I’m only believing Iger…who celebrated himself in the last decade for how he built Disney from the ground up from nothing (paraphrased)…

If he was so great…why is it in rough shape as it is?

But even if chapek was an undercover genius (something no one would entertain him being)…the fact all these bad people were there and allowed to stick really goes back to the yacht, doesn’t it?

Sure, scripts were out there in various states but the final go ahead to start production were largely under the DMED structure. Trying to use when scripts are written would be difficult with as long as that can take and as many rewrites/changes they go through.

As for the rest, Iger certainly is full of himself, but that is a common CEO trait in my experience. He also, in the grand Disney tradition established by Eisner, drove off anyone he thought would be competent enough to replace him as CEO, hence why we got Chapek. So sure, he is responsible for that. You won't get any argument from me there. The thing is I see the changes he has made since returning as improvements. You see them as more of the same, fair enough. We'll see where it ends up.

Either way, I don't think he is going to be around too many more years as the changes either work, the ship gets headed in the right direction and he gets to ride off a hero in his own mind again or he gets driven off because the changes don't work or are too slow to develop and the board is forced to make a change. Either way, I believe those changes need some time to start making an impact. Personally, I feel D23 next year is a reasonable time frame. Assuming the actors strike ends anytime soon movies should be releasing and there should be a solid plan in place for the parks.

Quick side note. I appreciate the civil discussion with everyone this morning. The games today started off pretty slow so nice to have an interesting conversation while waiting for things to pick up.

That should make you healthier and conditioned. Not more tired.
Just think of his underpaid personal trainer who has to get up earlier than he does and smell the guy.

Listen to his answers, and look at his actions.

Sequels for the foreseeable future. Original IP is mothballed.

MCU and Star Wars functionally paused until they figure things out.

D+ originals memory-holed.

“Quiet the noise” on the culture wars.

DVCs get built. Cruise ships get built. Attractions get paused.

Linear doesn’t have much of a future with the company. Leak after leak suggests they’re being actively shopped.

The future of Disney is increasingly a very streamlined media presence - built around ESPN/D+/Hulu with a theatrical window as it benefits the company and its productions - and a parks/experiences division that’s heavily focused on cruise ships and reintegrating existing IP into the parks.

Are you referring to Cars Land when saying it hasn't been touched since 2010? They did swap the Flying Tires for Rollickin Roadsters a few years back.

I like it…I’ve been a few times.

But what would be “good change”? An expansion…something their competitors are doing more and more.

I don’t get the idea “give ‘em more of what they want…” I’d bad business.
Cutting hours and maintenance…is bad business

But that’s what bad management does.
