I think Iger’s been making a lot of great decisions since he returned to the company. Disney is a slow moving ship like any other media company though and it takes time for decisions to show results.

What decisions has Iger made since his return that you disagree with?

My first reaction was this was a pixie duster statement but upon thinking about it a bit you may be correct.

He’s cut labor costs, announced investments in the parks, cut overhead at D+, he’s looking into unloading assets like ABC that aren’t the future of the company, he outmaneuvered Florida and set the parks up for self governance for the next couple decades, he’s trying to mend the relationship with Florida… from a business perspective he’s made a lot of good moves.

As a parks fan I still wish he’d get rid of G+, bring back ME, etc but I think he’s purely focused on making D+ profitable and stopping the losses.

I don’t agree with everything he’s done but you are correct, change is slow at Disney, and it’s only been a year.

I think they already announced they’re going to be making changes to Genie+ to make it more like a paid FastPass+. I don’t like having to pay for it but being able to buy it in advance and make Lightning Lanes in advance would take a lot of pain out of it for me. As someone who is not a morning person, I hated having to wake up early just to spend money and book a Lightning Lane as fast as I could.

I miss Magical Express too. It wouldn’t be hard to bring it back. Just sign a new contract with Mears.

Didn't see this one posted here yet:

Loved the part about how he spent much of his summer on his private yacht. 🙄

What makes me laugh that he's making it sound like he was naive to all the troubles? That's the reason why he bolted and put Chapek in charge in the first place.

This is exactly right. It's like he's surprised by the mess he caused. Chapek just had no political acumen but I'm not sure most of the stuff he gets blamed for was actually his fault and not Iger's. Also Iger was the guy who picked him so Chapek is his fault as well.

He was also still on the Board during Chapek's time as CEO -- it's not like he was completely divorced from the company with absolutely no insight into anything that was happening.

Yes, and he kept his main office. The man never left, and he was constantly whispering in the ears of the board that he should come back.

"Alan Horn, the studio mastermind who led Disney's years of unparalleled success." Ha! Horn is an arsonist who's also a firefighter. Look what he did to Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne at New Line.
Also, Horn led Disney Studio whose majority of films had a net loss in theaters. The few successful blockbusters were able to make Disney Studio net zero theatrically.

All while Marvel, Pixar, LucasFilm, and Disney Animation were very net positive.

We need to see how the entertainment quality improves. That's Disney's biggest problem right now.

I heard worrying news that Deadpool 3 is only halfway through filming & that's with the actors strike still going on. The movie is still set for its May release. If they don't delay that movie then it's going to be yet another box office disaster for Disney. People aren't paying for crappy movies anymore, that's streaming fodder now.

They need to get serious about quality & that's probably going to mean a lot of delays. No more lazy movies like Ant-Man 3 or Thor 4.
