Seems to be a pattern for Disney CEOs in their later years - term limits anyone?Poor man has lost his legacy. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
Poor man has lost his legacy.
Is that what Walt is squatting over?No he hasn't.
It's just been moved to another place in EPCOT.
My first reaction was this was a pixie duster statement but upon thinking about it a bit you may be correct.I think Iger’s been making a lot of great decisions since he returned to the company. Disney is a slow moving ship like any other media company though and it takes time for decisions to show results.
What decisions has Iger made since his return that you disagree with?
I think they already announced they’re going to be making changes to Genie+ to make it more like a paid FastPass+. I don’t like having to pay for it but being able to buy it in advance and make Lightning Lanes in advance would take a lot of pain out of it for me. As someone who is not a morning person, I hated having to wake up early just to spend money and book a Lightning Lane as fast as I could. As a parks fan I still wish he’d get rid of G+, bring back ME, etc but I think he’s purely focused on making D+ profitable and stopping the losses.
Time to retire again, his net worth is down to $350M.Didn't see this one posted here yet:
Bob Iger Found Disney in 'Worse Shape' Than He Expected, Now 'Overwhelmed and Exhausted' (Bloomberg)
Mounting troubles across Disney's businesses have proven a bigger challenge that the CEO expected when he returnedwww.thewrap.com
Loved the part about how he spent much of his summer on his private yacht.

This is exactly right. It's like he's surprised by the mess he caused. Chapek just had no political acumen but I'm not sure most of the stuff he gets blamed for was actually his fault and not Iger's. Also Iger was the guy who picked him so Chapek is his fault as well. What makes me laugh that he's making it sound like he was naive to all the troubles? That's the reason why he bolted and put Chapek in charge in the first place.
"Alan Horn, the studio mastermind who led Disney's years of unparalleled success." Ha! Horn is an arsonist who's also a firefighter. Look what he did to Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne at New Line.

Yes, and he kept his main office. The man never left, and he was constantly whispering in the ears of the board that he should come back.He was also still on the Board during Chapek's time as CEO -- it's not like he was completely divorced from the company with absolutely no insight into anything that was happening.
Iger was having another bigger mega yacht built in 2023. Maybe not satisfied with his current one.Didn't see this one posted here yet:

Also, Horn led Disney Studio whose majority of films had a net loss in theaters. The few successful blockbusters were able to make Disney Studio net zero theatrically."Alan Horn, the studio mastermind who led Disney's years of unparalleled success." Ha! Ah, the good old days....Also, Horn led Disney Studio whose majority of films had a net loss in theaters. The few successful blockbusters were able to make Disney Studio net zero theatrically.
All while Marvel, Pixar, LucasFilm, and Disney Animation were very net positive.
We need to see how the entertainment quality improves. That's Disney's biggest problem right now.My first reaction was this was a pixie duster statement but upon thinking about it a bit you may be correct.
He’s cut labor costs, announced investments in the parks, cut overhead at D+, he’s looking into unloading assets like ABC that aren’t the future of the company, he outmaneuvered Florida and set the parks up for self governance for the next couple decades, he’s trying to mend the relationship with Florida… from a business perspective he’s made a lot of good moves.
As a parks fan I still wish he’d get rid of G+, bring back ME, etc but I think he’s purely focused on making D+ profitable and stopping the losses.
I don’t agree with everything he’s done but you are correct, change is slow at Disney, and it’s only been a year.
