I hope James Gorman chooses the outsider, because I don't think all four of the internal candidates are good enough. Especially Dana Walden and Josh D'Amaro.

There is no candidate in my opinion that is going to have all boxes checked on what is needed to run a huge company like Disney. There isn't a candidate, neither internal nor external, that has both Parks and Studios experience. So they need to stop looking for a single person, and go with the co-CEO role, where someone from Parks runs the operations side, and someone from Studios runs the entertainment side. Its worked for many companies, and even worked for Disney in the past.

This is where you can utilize both Josh and Dana for their respective experiences in those roles.

So stop looking for a single person, and go with the co-CEOs.

Comcast CEO has no clue how to run parks and resorts so he has execs run Universal parks and resorts.
Roberts has no clue how to run a studio either, he is a pure telco infrastructure guy as that is his experience, and leaves everything else to the heads of the various divisions.

This idea that the next CEO needs to be a single person that has experience and understands every part of every business Disney is in is silly, no such person exists. This why I'm in favor of a co-CEO strategy.

Okay, take a chill pill man! But I’m not counting on Dana and Josh.

I was gonna say the same to you. lol

But seriously there is nothing wrong with either of them, both appear to have their good points and valid experiences, otherwise they wouldn't be in their respective jobs. So I think they do offer enough experience to be able to perform well in a co-CEO role.

But, Dana Walden is too political. And Disney can’t afford to have another political person to be CEO of Disney. As for Josh D’Amaro, well, he’s a parks guy and everybody here in this forum hates him. Just saying.

First of all, I'm sorry but Dana is not too political in my opinion. So I'm not sure why you feel that way, but nonetheless any CEO no matter the company, especially a multi-national media conglomerate like Disney will be asked to wade in on political matters from time-to-time in the future, that is just the way of the world now.

As for Josh, well these forums don't pick the next CEO (and thank god for that).

And lastly, having them be co-CEO allows them to use their respective experiences (Josh in Park and operations and Dana on the entertainment side) to navigate the complex waters of a company like Disney. Its too large of a job for a single person in my opinion.

This may not be a guaranteed, but I would love to see Reggie Fils-Aimé as the new CEO of Disney. He’s the former CEO of Nintendo.

Despite the EA CEO rumor, and now this suggestion of the Nintendo guy, I don't think an executive from a gaming company is right to take over Disney.

I'm still a fan of the co-CEO being used where you have an executive from the entertainment side and an executive from the operations/parks side filling the roles.

Again, it's just a suggestion. I'm not guaranteed that he'll be chosen.
