I saw something on MSN how "The Village" is a more powerful commentary on post 9/11 America than Moore's film (Isolationism). Interesting read. I still plan on seeing the movie, I just can't decide if it is "BIG Screen" worthy.

Saw the film today and can see where some might get the post 9/11 comparison, but that is if they're really looking for it. I can't really comment why with out giving away the "twist" of the movie.

But I must say, the ending was, well, surprising....

It is definitely worth seeing. :)

For me, I kind of saw it coming, but agree completely that it is worth watching. Especially on the big screen.
I give the movie 2 thumbs up !!!

Box Office Mojo is reporting it took in a estimated $50 million over the weekend. Not bad at all, but I know that some were predicting a couple million more. At least that's more than what Home on the Range made during its entire run, along with a couple other movies. The only other films to make more money were Hidalgo and Miracle. Now we just have to see how it'll fare into the coming weeks, as we have Collateral opening this Friday, The Princess Diaries 2 opening next Wednesday, and then Alien vs. Predator next Friday. All three films will definitely cause some damage at the box office.

Me, I went into this movie with high expectations, wanting to see something like Signs and The Sixth Sense...But I was left a little bit dissapointed (and wanting more at the end than what I got). And I wasn't the only one...many people were expressing dissapointment as well.

That being said, as a movie The Village, is interesting and somewhat original, however very contrived, or so it seemed to me. Nice themes, beautifully shot and nice soundtrack...the acting wasn't too bad either.

For those who haven't seen this film, when you go see it don't go in expecting to see anything like Signs or The Sixth Sense...or you will be dissapointed.

Interesting is the word I'd use to describe this film...I hope I'm wrong...but I think this film will have a strong opening at the box office and then drop off the radar...but go see this film for yourself...

Just my opinion. :)

50 Million opening- very good.

Should make around 200 Million. Nothing I see coing out will do much damage.Lets hope PD2 helps disney out too.

Also this year is a blockbuster summer breaking laster record but it seems that it is all around this year (last year Disney had the spot light), because it seems no one has hit a Billion yet. and summer almost over.
