Is anybody else super excited about this movie?

I think M. Night Shyamalan is probably the most talented director in the movie biz right now. I hope it turns out to be a big money maker for Disney!:)

Well, none of shyamalan's movie's are ever VERY scary. Instead, they evoke a certain aura of suspense that reminds me a lot of Hitchcock.

"The Village" takes place in the 1830's. It involves a very small town that is surrounded by a forest that is supposedly inhabited by "mystical" creatures. In the movie, a character begins to question the the secluded nature of the town and inadvertently threatens the truce that exists between the townspeople and the "creatures."

It's an interesting concept...and if Shyamalan continues his current trend, "The Village" is going to have a surprise ending.:D

Its pretty simple. Just think.

These.. Creatures...

*POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT*

Are you referring to the (fake) script that has been circulating the internet in which the surprise turns out to be that the movie doesn't take place in the 1830's but really takes place in the present? Also, that the "creatures" are really just the elders of the village trying to keep the public sheltered from the modern world?

I truly do not think that this is Shyamalan's style....it seems a little too contrived. I hope that it doesn't turn out like this!

I saw the preview online at comingsoon.net. I didn't see it at the theater. You're right about his movies though, they aren't very scary (altho I did find Signs to be definately the creepiest). I can't wait for the Village though.

im not so sure i want to go see this in the theater... the 6th sense was pretty cool in the theater but i saw Signs in my own home and was so scared I couldnt walk by a window at night for a real long time! It was so scary! Especially the way the aliens would slink around <<shudders>>.

The concept that the movie actually takes place in the present is an interesting one...it intrigued me enough to think about going to see it lol

I am VERY excited about htis movie, but I hope it's more Sixth Sense and less Signs. I kinda thought Signs was silly. :lookaroun The other one, which I can't recall the name of at the moment, I never saw. With Bruce Willis?

I am VERY excited about this movie. I don't know why, but it seems to be calling to me. I really want to go see it when it comes out.

I was already under the impression that the people were in the present. Because the preview said secluded, I thought it meant it was away from the outside (present) world.

M. Night Shyamalan did a great job with Signs and the 6th Sense. I will go see his movies, even though their scary, because they have a clear ending. I don't like being left hanging in the air.

The Village should be a good thriller. Disney's box office year is counting on it.

Can't wait for this one - I've been seeing previews on TV and it looks very good. Haven't heard too much about the story line though - I like to go into a movie with no preconceived ideas and just let the movie entertain me.

Me, too. I don't want to know too much before going in so that I'm surprised by everything that happens.

I'm surprised by how many good actors this have. Jaquin (sp?) Phoenix, Adrian Brody, william Hurt, Sigourney Weaver - talk about an all star cast. Plus I read that the girl is Ron Howard's daughter.

i got the impression that it took place in the present too but thats because I thought the boy was wearing modern clothes...They flash things very quickly and maybe i wasnt paying much attention, but thats what i thought

This was my first impression from the previews... The boy was not from around there, the villiage was some sort of amish-like town and the creatures are...a mystery. Turns out Im not usually right about previews though lol ;)
