Strollers are definitely a necessity at MK if you have kids. It bothers me when people complain about strollers, kids running around, etc at Disney. MK for the most part was created for kids, so adult visitors should realize that and just relax. I do, however, believe that those with kids/strollers should be courteous to those around them. For instance, we bring our own stroller on the buses, but I always make a point to head to the back of the bus and stay out of others' way. I don't like being run into or blocked by a stroller either, but you have to allow them at Disney because of all of the kids.

Getting rid of strollers won't happen but it would be nice if there were other areas to drop them off. Why not have a stroller drop off at all the larger stroller parking areas? Its all the people standing in line for the disney doller that really seem to jam things up.

We never rush out of the park. Seeing the crowd thin and watching everything begin to shut down is really relaxing to me.

I talked smack about people with strollers before I had a baby. I am quicker and can move through a crowd faster than most. The bottom line is the strollers aren't the problems the person pushing them is the slow one. I move fast and hold up nobody.I pick the stroller up and over curbs, down stairs, through anything.I'm also a big guy and that stroller and baby combined can't weigh 50 lbs. When some little lady starts trying to push a stroller up over a curb and it takes her 2 minutes, that'll hold you up.

I could not agree more. The reason most people go to WDW is for their children. The only time I think strollers are an issue is on the Monorail & Boats because they are allowed to stay open & do take up a bit of space. Also, on the bus like you mentioned. And truthfully the problem is not the stroller as much as the number off people they try to cram in these things.

I think it is safe to assume that you don’t have kids. For those of us who do have kids WDW would be impossible without strollers. I doubt it would be very pleasant for anyone else either. Pick one, exhausted five year old screaming their head off or exhausted five year old passed out in a stroller. The choice is pretty obvious.
I think a MK curfew should be implemented. Little Billy and Sally really shouldn't be up that late. It disrupts their biological clocks and causes all manner of cranky behavior and possible hallucinations! The lights from the fireworks are extremely bright and the sounds are often deafening. How can those poor children be expected to live normal lives after being exposed to such trauma? Children working in the Disney sweat shops have better conditions. It's child abuse I tell ya! Whose with me?

All that I have to say about the stroller issue is...don't stop in the middle of a crowed walkway to look at your map. That seems to be my biggest problem with them. That and don't let your 8 year old push around his/her younger sibling. Other than that, I'm all for the stroller.

Every year I go to Disney it is tradition to go to the Magic Kingdom on the last night and watch the fireworks (Fantasy in the Sky and Wishes), then we take the ceremonial walk through the castle and into the jam-packed Main Street USA. It normally takes about 20 minutes to walk down the street in the crowd because of one thing....the outstanding number of strollers. I believe Disney should either remove the rental of strollers for good or at least cut down on the number of them in circulation. They conjest everything and sometimes you look into one and you see a kid that has to be at least 10 years old!! Does anyone agree that the stroller situation needs to be taken into consideration?(Tip:You can avoid some of the crowd if you take the secret way through park gates!!)

Yea... and then lets make the blacks, and jews not allowed in the middle of the street. YOURE CRAZY! It a public place, and further more a place for familys. Should they maybe be more considerate...yes. Even have a strollers only walkway...sure. But you cant tell a mom she cant use a stroller. And no I dont have kids, Im just a gay man, used to other forms of discrimination at the world. :)

I would love to have a line were people in strollers could not go. I think it would be great in a mall as well. But the logistics wont work.

i don't think you understand how much parents need the strolers. :veryconfu

Yes, without strollers how could you plow your way through crowds and run over people's toes and hit them in the back of the ankles and make them get out of your way?:)

There is a very simple way to fix the stroller problem....parkwide peoplemover system....a station at each land......we can wish.

Not going to happen. Ever. It's all due to the themeing. Notice how you don't see the WDW Railroad going through Tomorrowland? You could never have a magnetically propelled train running through AL or FL, especially one that crosses "land-lines". It would kill the themeing. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Wow. That's actually a really good idea. There's nothing worse than having someone repeatedly ram a stroller onto your heals. Someone did that to me even when I was a kid!

How about when people walk right in front of your stroller and then just STOP and then give you a dirty look because you bumped into them? I have more people walking right in front of me and all I hear about is crazy stroller drivers! It is very annoying! :fork: Not to mention that after the fireworks when everyone is trying to cram out, I would lose my kids in all the mobs of people pushing and shoving their way out if they were not in their strollers! How about if they let all the strollers out first and make all the non-stroller people wait? After all, all those little kids need to get their rest, right? :p

If Disney didn't rent them then people would just bring there own from home. Or some enterprising company would start to rent them by the week as they now do the ECV's.

If you don't want to worry about the strollers I suggest taking a walk through Fantasyland, Liberty Square, Adventureland and then down Main Street U.S.A., that should take about 20 minutes and Main Street should be cleared out by then.

Back on thread topic

If I must stop in a pathway with or without a stroller, I make it a point to look around me before I stop in the middle of a pathway or doorway to make sure no one is close on my heels.
Usually, we pull over to the side, out of the way, even using something as a block that people would be going around anyway like a planter, lamp post, or trashcan as a courtesy to those who want to move along. It's a little extra effort many people probably don't notice or appreciate, but it means we don't get run into. Our kids are walking on their own these days, but even if one has to stop and tie a shoe, we teach them this so nobody gets hurt.
Gee, can we get an emoticon that pats us on the back? :D

What would you suggest parents with sleepy children do then? Strollers are essential for parents and parents and children are essential to WDW. 20 minutes not a long time for such a big event to empty out. This weekend I went to a baseball game and it took 1 hour and 45 minutes to leave the property. WDW has crowd control/queueing down pat. There is no better system on earth.

Why not do what we do. Have some Ice Cream, Take a seat and wait while the park emptys, it's only a half hour or so and it's so nice leaving with less people in the park and the monorail or ferry. Sit back, relax and enjoy life.

Good Idea. We usually get a snack at Casey's while we wait for the crowds. I think that's why Casey's, Ice cream shop, and the Bakery are all open 40 minutes after the rest of the park, for people like us. :) We were one of the last people in the park once and we got a security guard to take our picture in front of the castle with nobody around.

You'll really hate me, then, I bring a stroller in just to carry my stuff. My daughter has long outgrow the stroller. I comes in handy to intimidate those idiots who block entrances and walkways and to break up the gangs who insist on taking up a whole walkway walking only one direction and blocking those want to go the other way.

Here here, good point.

I am now at a point in my life that I have somebody to push around in a stroller, and it is a lot different then running around a park on your own. I love to move fast, and I don't like people slowing me up because they have to move slowly. I am just naturally a faster moving person, but at the same time I am courteous to those around me. I don't shove into people or knock them out of the way. I take extra wide turns, and avoid slower people as much as possible now that I have a stroller.

In my opinion these anti-stroller comments are ridiculous. Sure you are going to get bumped or heel-smashed (I have), but it happens. Should we all complain about people who bump into you with their bodies? Should they not be allowed in the parks? I mean I have had my two year old walking around in a area of the park that was quiet for a second and then all of a sudden in come a bunch of running kids knocking him down.

In my experience half of the people that get bumped by a stroller are the same people who try to cut ahead of a stroller because they see it as a weaker vestige....or they are the people holding hands ten people across pulling themselves in peoples ways.......or they are the people walking in front of you that just stop all of a sudden in the middle of a walkway. I mean think about it if you are on a freeway and you stop all of a sudden what happens? You get rear-ended, sure it hurts, but guess what, it is going to happen.

It is hard to manuever a stroller, and a lot of rude people and kids understand this, so they try to take advantage of this fact, and more than likely they get smashed. Other people are just unlucky in this matter, but if there weren't strollers there would be something else to complain about.

Things happen......deal with it.....

I sugest leaving the park earlier and taking the kids to bed, pushing round all night in a stroller is no fun for kids. If they are sleepy then they are worn out even me with no kids knows that.
