Searched the forums, surprised I didn't find anything like this, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

But here it is:

Walt Disney World vs. Disneyland.

And........

DEBATE!

hm, only been to WDW, and I'm not really killing myself to go to Disneyland anytime soon...since i'm in VA, I wouldn't go to CA just for Disneyland, but I'd stop there if I was in the neighborhood. As a Disney freak, I am curious for the experience.

Disney himself knew that in Florida, there is the blessing of size and room to grow. As I said in another post, Disneyland could fit into the parking lot of Magic Kingdom. There are more parks, more themes, and more attractions. It will always be so sentimental to me...my first and only Disney park experience so far.

That being said, I will not deny the fact that Disneyland was the first, and there is much history there. I'm sure it's got the same special feeling that you only get while at Disney.

Even if you've only been to one and not the other, it's kinda easy to figure out.

Disneyland = 2 parks, a couple of resorts

WDW= 4 parks, 2 water parks, 5 golf courses (I think), Pleasure Island and Downtown Disney, Disney WWOS, a plethera of resorts, etc.

I've been to both but there still is a nastalgia about Disneyland that I love. But I would take WDW anyday!

Except being able to see gas station and fast food service signs over the trees.

I would have to say Disney World by far. Disneyland was fun, but I don't think it's near as impressive as WDW. Not only does WDW have more theme parks, resorts, water parks, land, etc., but I personally think it has better rides and better themeing. I even think that the rides that the parks share - like Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Big Thunder Mountain, etc. - are better at WDW (except for Pirates). I would describe Disneyland as a charming park but I would describe WDW as grand and fantastic in comparison. Everything just seems bigger and better at WDW and even the castles show that.

wow are you serious? That sounds so tacky! No wonder Walt bought all that land in Orlando!

Dispite this fact, I still really really want to go to DL!!

Even tho I havent been to Disneyland, My sister says it was stupid, she said that it's more of a rollercoaster park, not that WDW insnt, but, that just doesnt seem like Walk, ne one w/ me? So I would probably like WDW better!(and i'm not a roller coaster fan,(well more of drops))

As a whole? WDW hands down, no contest. Even with all its "faults", its still more impressive than DLR. Yes, even its "half a day park" (AK) its still better than DCA. And when EE is done... fugettah bout it!

However.... Disneyland vs. Magic Kingdom... is a whole different debate!!

I've been to both. and I honestly feel that you can't really compare the two. (keep inmind i've never been to DCA though) WDW is massive. And there's so much to do there that you'd need to spend a year on property to do it all.

Disneyland is much more intimate. it's smaller, but it has so much charm that I would love to go back one day. I don't see myself spending more than maybe two days at a time there. But it is THE most charming theme park ever. (even more so than WDW's magic Kingdom in some parts)

So while I don't think either one is BETTER than the other, I can say that I'd rather take a week and go to WDW. just because I've been there so many times that I love it.

That's EXACTLY why they baught more land when they planned the "florida project" all those years ago.

This is not an ultimate question. There is no question. WDW is so far superior to DL it is laughable. I am an annual passholder on both coasts, DL is simply a fix, because it is close to us until we can get to the real action. I agree that if you are in the neighborhood, you should see DL and DCA. But as a destination vacation? No Way.

Disneyland was the prototype for WDW. Walt made a lot of mistakes in creating Disneyland and he corrected most of them with the creation of WDW. Disneyland was nice at one time but the awful urban sprawl of Anaheim has ruined the place forever. I have no desire to visit that place again.

That sums up what I was going to say. I have never been to Disneyland but I honestly don't have any desire to either. Everything I need to have a blast is right in WDW! If someday I just happen to be in California in the vicinity of Disneyland I'll visit, sure, but I'd never make a trip just to visit it.

Some people like DL and some liek WDW. They are both Disney so they are both great in my book.

I pick at DL alot but I would really like to go. I live closest to WDW so I have only been there.

I am a fan of both parks - even though I have only been to DL once, way back in '92 (and WDW about 20 times). Obviously WDW has many more resorts etc but if you compare the MK to DL, I think they each offer something over the other...

Like I say, it's been a while but if I remember correctly:

POTC in DL is longer(?) with 2 drops
HM in WDW has IMO far superior external theming...but the stretching room in DL is more effective as you actually go down..
Space Mountain in WDW, bigger, better, faster(?)

I remember seeing Fantasmic in DL in '92 and there was something magical about standing in the park.. even though I'm sure it's smaller than the MGM version..

Apples and Oranges. Just look at the majority of guests. Disneyland pretty mycu thrives off of the locals who go to it as a classic landmark, whereas WDW couldnt get along with locals only.

NO WDW VS DLR THREADS...

In the end, these kind of threads bring out the worst in people...

They all end up in people bashing other people...

So Please close this thread...

The reason of that is, all those threads were closed because of fights, it happens all the time...
