The Ultimate Buffet...

Oh dear @real mad hatter -- never done a character meal or a buffet at WDW.

Part of me wants to send you to dinner over at Boma...just so many options that go well beyond the standard buffet offerings + it's a nice excuse to head over to AKL.

Then part of me wants you at a character breakfast...but which one?

1900 Park Fare is my fave and the Mad Hatter is typically in the lineup. Still, unless you don't mind an 8am meal (i.e. can't usually make rope drop with this one) or are good with "brunch" - i.e. get one of the seatings right around 11am and make it a lazy gluttonous lunchish breakfast outside of the park...it may not be the best timing option. Of course, there's the whole pre-park opening experience and as I've said before- I think MK wins this hands down...but Crystal Palace or CRT? CP is cheaper and a traditional buffet while CRT gets you inside the castle . And since the CRT breakfast revamp- both have really good food. Of course, this doesn't get you in with the big cheese and there is something special about a Mickey meal. We are big fans of Chef Mickey's breakfast- especially the 7am seating...since you can hit any park with this.

I think you're just going to have to add more meals ;)

Forgot about Cape May. Eaten there twice, both times were very good. Hard to go wrong with freshly steamed crab legs! Nice dessert selection, too. I liked the fact that the desserts were "one bite" sized. They even brought my wife and I special desserts for our Anniversary!

Strawberry Shortcake and Boston Creme Cake

Anniversary Dessert. Chocolate goodness, and Mickey Sprinkles! :hungry:

Cannot wait to try Chef Mickey's and Akershus breakfast this trip. I tend to enjoy the breakfast buffets as I tend to like more of the offerings. Would like to try O'hana. A little afraid of BOMA although I would like to visit AKL.

Akershus Princess Breakfast was good. Very good one on one interaction with lots-o-princesses! My DD was very pleased with it. Don't be afraid of Boma. Just go... Zebra Domes, anyone???

I too love Boma's. We've eaten dinner here twice and breakfast once. I'd definitely chose dinner, although I really enjoyed their 'Jungle Juice' offered @ breakfast. I also really enjoyed the pre-park opening and eating @ CRT. I love walking down
Main Street before the park opens. It is such an awesome experience!!! And there's something special about eating in Cindy's Castle, even if I only have boys.
Good luck...but I'd do both :)

Ok folks..I've decided to add an extra ADR for my next trip, and I fancy a " Eat till you drop " Buffet..Now I've never done one before, but I have perused the buffet menus and here's my choice..Boma..The reason I fancy it is because of the huge variety available. But what would be your choice.?..And why.?:hungry:

There are so many buffets. So may options. For me personally - I like character meals and breakfast buffets. But, I don't feel that you are into doing the big character thing, especially at breakfast. I don't think you are looking for a bacon and egg and waffle kind of thing. So I'm going to go with dinner choices. And I think Boma is a GREAT choice for you! Its a buffet, no characters, and the food is awesome! And i'm a picky eater! PS - the pineapple upside down cheesecake will change your life!! I think it is better then the Zebra Dome!! (I hope I don't get flamed for that! :) )

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

Re - Zebra Domes - No flames from me. I hate them. They had an over-powering, unexpected boozey flavour.
Pineapple upside down anything, however, ROCKS!

Looking forward to a buffet but will give the character meal a miss..I reckon the meet & greet is more significant than the quality of the food ( only what I've read ) apart from that,my DS would have a fit if I booked a character meal,he already says I'am in the oldest boy band in the world.:(

If you have never been to Boma I would go there, it's wonderful! Food is amazing, room can be loud but being at the Lodge is an added bonus. Honestly we went I think 4 years ago and it was absolutely delicious.

We tried Boma last year for breakfast and loved it. I still love Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We went back to Biergarten last year and were underwhelmed. Although not a buffet, but all you care to enjoy ... Ohana!!! ;)

Boma is a good choice for the adventurous diner. I really enjoy it with it's wide variety of foods and flavors. I have always loved curries and there are definitely a few curry dishes available.

Biergarten is also a favorite of mine. Besides the good food you have the band playing and they also serve bier in a full Liter which is a two hander when it is full!:geek: Depending on the size of your party you could be sitting with strangers, but we have always met great people there to share our experiences and toast to a good meal with.

I have both Boma and now 1900 Park Fare on my dinner to do list. Never understood the appeal about 'Ohana really, so little offerings and for a no meat eater a pure waste of time.

For breakfast my vote goes to Tusker House and Crystal Palace, with a honorable mention to Cape May.

YEAH! Then you will love this. Go to cold stone creamery...get the cheese cake flavored ice cream and have them add in pineapple and graham cracker crust. Top with whip cream! AND...it tastes JUST like the upside down cheesecake! :)
