Mom found a good doctor in Orlando, but I would rather see the one in Atlanta.

I've learned at least one thing from this experience- for about 30 seconds after I drink Robitussin I can roll my tongue into 3 hoops! :lookaroun :slurp:

A two hour commute to see an expert will be worth it for your peace of mind. I commuted back and forth to Atlanta (on Valujet, no less!) for my son's surgeries. The doctor who wrote the "bible" on pediatric hand surgery has a practice there, and we were able to see him and have him perform the surgery. He has retired, so we will have a local pediatic orthopedic surgeon (who went up and studied with him) do the final surgery.

Let me know if I can do anything to help.

The latest update to my tonsil saga.....

Today I finally made it to the specialist. I found out something interesting- my tonsilitis can be attributed to, of all things, acid reflux! (Ashlee Simpson came up as a topic of our discussion: I'm now a believer that acid reflux really can hurt your voice!) This was confirmed when she put a camera in my throat and found that my vocal chords were red and swollen from the acid. Apparently acid reflux is common in skinny singers because of compression of the stomach by the diaphragm. This was found to cause damage to the voice box, throat and tonsils. Rather than removing my tonsils I'm now on a regimen of antibiotics (to reduce inflamation in my throat), steroids (to reduce the swelling in my tonsils from years of damage), and medication for acid reflux. I was also given a long list of ways to take better care of my voice. :dazzle:

I return in six weeks to see if it all works.

A before picture of my throat....
Ouch! Red and swollen! :(
