Trip Report The Story Comes ALIVE! *COMPLETED*

Hello again, my friends.

For nearly a decade it has been such a joy for me to write about 50 (yes, 50!) different trips that I have taken to WDW - including one that was virtual. ;)

The reason? You, the reader.

I don’t do trip reports for my own documentation. I have journals for that. I write because I love interacting with y’all. Your encouragement, humor, curiosity and even snark (*ahem* @amjt660) assure me that I am not alone in my crazy affection for Disney parks. A big thanks to each of you!

I am very fortunate to be a frequent visitor to WDW (despite what @Mr Ferret 88 believes, I do not live there!) and am entering a season of monthly visits. Trip reporting is time consuming (as those of you who’ve written can attest) but I’m not ready to completely give it up - yet.

What I’d like to do is keep this as an ongoing TR for the rest of 2023. It will be highlights and moments, with live posting as the goal. My story coming alive, so to speak.

First up is spring break with my favorite girl.

Followed closely by a getaway with my favorite guy.

There will be Magician meets. New experiences. And (as always) the unexpected.

I hope you’ll join the fun!

Tonight I introduced Em to Sebastian’s Bistro.

Woody and I had eaten here in February for the first time and really enjoyed the Caribbean/tropical food, served family-style.

There’s a frozen POG smoothie on the drink menu that I was anxious to try. The restaurant was “out” of POG juice on my first visit.

Em ordered one too. Both of us loved it.

We did not love the paper straws which fell apart mid-drink. Our server brought us replacements.

The pull-apart rolls with caramelized onion jam got two thumbs up!

We were mixed on the salad.

The proteins were very flavorful.

We decided we just might kill for the cilantro rice and beans. (But not the broccolini! :hilarious:)

The bread pudding was a yummy ending to the meal.

“How did you hear about this place?” Em asked me, shortly after we sat down.

@Loco_driver raves about the food in his trip reports,” I told her.

I bet he eats at Sebastian’s on every vacation.

It’s a bet I would win.

Our travels continued with a ride on the Skyliner. We popped into DHS to make a purchase and have an AP issue sorted out at Guest Relations.

Then it was another bus, where we were all “entertained” by a young man who loudly sang numerous songs from Disney movies.

The comment the man next to Em made about the teen is unprintable.

Could he actually sing? I'm definitely guilty of singing along with the music while I'm waiting in lines, like at the boat docks, etc. But sometimes I don't even realize I'm singing....it's such a habit for me.

He didn’t have a bad voice but he was clearly doing it for attention, on a completely packed bus with ambient noise from others’ conversations.

There was no music on the bus.

Ah, ok, then it's kind of in bad taste. For me, it's just like singing along in the car with the radio. You don't really notice you are doing it until you notice someone has noticed....like you pull up to a light and the person in the car next to you is staring at you. It's embarrassing to get caught!! But I tend to do it wherever I am. If there's music playing and I know the song, I'm probably singing along. I apologize in advance to anyone who might encounter me at Disney in the future! I promise I'm not trying to be rude!!

Our evening was full of travels.

First was a boat ride where we discovered a tiny rubber duck. On its bottom was an Instagram link (which Em looked up) which encouraged guests to hide the duck again for someone else to find.

Next we boarded a bus. The “seasoned” driver was telling jokes and making puns as he continued to wait for more people to arrive. At one point he reached into his backpack and pulled out a huge roll of stickers, promptly giving each party at least a dozen. Em had already folded ours before I took this picture.

But wait, there’s more.

Next each party received two transportation wooden nickels. According to the Disney Moms panel, these are rare and very few people know about them.

How rare?

One is listed on eBay for a whopping $5.
Gus got a wooden nickel from a bus driver in April!

For those who were panicking that the tomato trees are gone (not you guys, posters in other forums) - evidence they are not.

Wednesday, con’t

The Annual Passholder Lounge - a (very) limited time offering from May 31 - June 30, 2023 - opened this morning. While not the first AP guests, Em and I beat most of the vloggers. :hilarious:

The lounge is outside Sunshine Seasons in The Land, in a tucked-away corner, by the exit doors for Awesome Planet.

Nothing but the finest for WDW APers.

Photo op.

“Come in and enjoy snacks and drinks,” we were beckoned.

Snacks were in a tub. Everyone’s favorite crunchy cookie flavored M&Ms and honey roasted salted peanuts from Xandor.

Drinks being two water coolers.

But hey, the tables were shrink wrapped with adorable characters. (“They did all this last night!” an excited CM shared with me. I did not quite share her enthusiasm.)

And the icing on the cake - a charging station!

We did not remain in the “air-conditioned comfort” (I am not making this up - this is a promoted “feature” of the lounge) very long, since our boarding group was called.

On the way to GotG we stood in a line to pick up the new Passholder magnet.

“I remember when they used to mail magnets to us. How ridiculous that we have to stand in line to get one!” Em complained.

Not only that, we had to show our AP cards and our driver’s licenses. As if we were obtaining something of real value.

Disney is trying to placate us with a Figment magnet when they should be fixing (and updating) the ride!
