The Status of Imagination

There is actually new technology in 3D which Disney hasn't used yet. A new digital camera with the 2 lenses closer together (think the distance between your eyes) that can focus nearly exactly like the human eye. The result is a much clearer image that's more realistic. Much easier than making your eyes and brain focusing on the close-up Tinkerbell, butterfly or bouncing cartoon character effect. So with that, I'd love to see an entirely new 3D movie filmed for this spot using that technology. I'm talking about axing HISTA and coming up with a new feature though.

Isn't called "Real-D" or something similar?

As for the state of imagination... well i'll just say that this pavillion has gone the same way as wom/horizons for me. :fork:

Ehhh...a little too extreme for my tastes. Figment IS back, after all. And the attraction is a modestly good one...

...if you don't compare it to the old JII.:eek::lol:

The original Journey sticks out in my memory more than any EPCOT Center attraction. That is saying a lot considering I was very young when I rode it and did not care for anything EPCOT Center.

It triggered something in my brain that forced me to take notice.

I personally really dislike the latest version. After watching a video of JIYI, there are actually a few parts of that one that were better than the current one. Overall, that one was the worst, but still...

Expanding the track and bringing back Dreamfinder would be a huge step in the right direction. Really hope it happens...

Here, too. With Horizons...and SSE...And Illumi...and....and...:eek::D
I believe it is actually. They wouldn't be able to simply upgrade a current film either because it's a whole new camera. That's why I'm hoping for a new film with this technology.

If the thature survives, remember.:lookaroun:D

Whatever they do, I hope they bring the theme of the ride back to "imagination", as opposed to the sight/sound/senses theme now, which would have been better off in WoL...

The ride needs to go back and focus on different aspects of the creative mind, and the original ride did that perfectly with art, literature, film, science, etc. And wrapped it all up in a completely original theme.

Every once and a while I will show a ride-through of the original ride to someone that has only been to Epcot recently or in the past few years, and the reaction is always "Where was that ride at? That looks amazing!"

Agree 100% the theme now does not fully deal with all of "Imagination".

I do like the imagination institute theming though (especially the bgm)

Since the current version of the ride tried to tie in the ride to the 3-D movie (terribly misguided idea, btw), than perhaps the next movie should try to tie the movie into a new ride? Have BOTH feature Dreamfinder and Figment. Maybe the ride could show guests, like the original, how imagination has inspired the arts, while the movie reuses the idea of showing guests the senses - which could arguably do it better than a ride could, because of the 3D.
