Why would it matter if Apple wasn't thrilled? Nothing stops them from sponsoring anything :) Heck, even Microsoft was rumored to sponsor SSE (or something in the Odyssey) for a bit.
I'm not sure when those rumors were, but if it was around 10 years ago then it would have been during a time when Disney and Apple weren't exactly best buds. Due to Eisner burning a lot of bridges with Pixar and Apple not long before he left.

I could be wrong, but I personally thing Apple would be more likely to have some issues with an EPCOT-Google/Android sponsorship than any of the above.

From the link posted by danlb above, looks like the festival was either canceled or was never going to happen in the first place...

Sort of off-topic, but I hated that they did this joke again. Same exact joke, word for word, 3 years in a row now. Same costume and I think it's the same actor as well. It's funny once, maybe even the second time, but it's getting old now.
I have not seen the joke, where can I see it?

The only way to see it is to go to the Bill & Ted show at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights.

The joke is basically a blue Avatar sex kitten comes out and they ask when her land will be opening, and she says 'coming to a theme park near you in 2075!', after which Bill & Ted say 'like anyone will give a **** by then!'.

You kind of have to be there I think.

Disagree with the last one. My first ride on Transformers, this was exactly my thoughts on the ride.
It didn't help that I had just come from riding the Mummy a few times, which I thought was an utterly fantastic ride.

I dunno. Transformers has a totally different pace than Spidey. It's a more visceral experience too.

I think the sets in Gringotts become more noticeable after a couple of spins on it. I certainly don't think it's "the same" as Despicable Me.

World Showcase could use some additions, but for the most part EPCOT needs to do far better at utilizing what it already has before even bothering to expand. At least in regards to Future World. Imagination is an abominable mess that people avoid like the plague, Wonders of Life is a sad empty shell gutted for convention space, Mission Space to me is little more than a glorified spinner, and Test Track still feels like you're driving through an empty warehouse (albeit now with some glow in the dark street signs). Ironically at the Seas, I see an increasing quantity of people who are outright avoiding the Nemo (by entering through what is intended as the exit) to see the real fish. Spaceship Earth suffers from a juvenile and bland narration and an empty never built descent (though the ride is at least was in the best condition of any EPCOT attraction earlier this month). And Innoventions is just a neglected embarrassment at this poing...

One thing I never understood is why so many people who claim Epcot has "lost its way", also want more attractions added, which is kind of in direct contrast to its original "way". I agree the park is under utilized, but there is still plenty to do, see, and learn.

Epcot is more than just "the park that needs a third theater for Soarin'

Oh I agree. I hate that WoL & Odyssey have become special events pavilions. I have a love/hate relationship with UoE. I love Jamie Lee Curtis & the 20 minute air conditioned nap, I hate everything else about it.

Epcot does need some love and some help way beyond a third theatre but by comparison it is nowhere remotely in the ballpark of the horrid shape of DAK/DHS.

It's only the second year, if I'm not mistaken. And they plan to do the joke every year until Avatar actually opens... and even maybe that year too.

I'm still trying to figure out why it matters if Apple has issues.

Does Microsoft still have the lame Home of the Future exhibit at Innoventions in Disneyland?

Sure there is...Thierry Coup loves him some screens, and he's calling the shots over there.
I hope the feedback (or can we call it backlash at this point?) and the criticisms about the overuse of screens will tell them to pull it back. At least that's what I hope. 3D screens are really becoming a niche appeal from my perspective, I just can't, and many people I know, can't take full day of screens. :hungover:

I'd much rather have an INDY or Mystic Manor dark ride experience.

To me it was less visceral and more jumbled. Count me as one of the old fogeys that couldn't tell what the heck was going on 98% of the time on Transformers.
It's a well done ride. The ride system is well done. Personally, that ride just didn't do it for me, and I probably wouldn't ride it again if I went to the park. I'd just do Mummy one more time and call it even.
But, I'm the dude with the Kitchen Kabaret obsession, so I'll admit my tastes might not be ones shared by a lot of folks.

I never said it matters, I don't think it does. I just made the comment that they might not be thrilled and their hypothetical protests may (or may not) factor into Disney's decision to go ahead with a Google/Android sponsored event/attraction. I'm not an Apple fan so I don't give a crap who sponsors what.

Agreed about Transformers. Left me cold.

Ah. Gotcha. Was confused because it came off like Apple has some sort of claim on Disney. They may not like it, yes, but Disney would gladly embrace anyone who would give them money.

I'm one who thinks Epcot lost its way, but the number of attractions is not what I want fixed about it. I want back what once was, and I don't mean I want all the old omnimovers regurgitated back out. I want the park that existed which had a very clear mission. Not just to entertain the masses, but to educate and inspire them as well. I could care less if they added attractions, took them away, etc. I want to feel that the park is more than just a shopping and dining destination hell bent on taking my money as efficiently as possible.

Sounds like it was true to the movies then.
I guess. I stopped at the first movie. Enjoyed it quite a bit, but never felt compelled to continue along with the saga.
Maybe my dislike for the attraction ties into that as well. No connection to the source material means no real interest which metal thing was punching me, or which metal thing was punching the thing punching me.

I miss my Transformers when Megatron and Soundwave could somehow shrink themselves as they tranformed. Towering robots one minute, handheld radio the next.
