The sounds that make you realize "Yep, I'm back!"

In the reply above, HunnyPot beat me to the punch. When I hear that train whistle and the music on Main Street, I get a spring in my step, just knowing that "Yep, I'm back!" Now the tough part is having to wait until NEXT October to hear those sounds again. October is our usual month to visit, but we went out to DLR in June this year, so I have over 400 days to go. Horrors!

My favourite sound - the noise of the turnstile as you enter the parks

Close your eyes and scroll with your mouse wheel. Am I crazy, or does it sound similar?

Ditto to all the above!

I love the Main Street music: "I'm walking right down the middle of Main Street USA. It's the heartbeat of America the heartbeat of a holiday."

Epcot music

Fo me it is definitely the music playing in Epcot as we are leaving the World Showcase after Illuminations when the park is getting ready to close. Usually it is a breezy night and we are strolling around the world showcase and I tell my husband, "listen" we are here, we are on vacation at WDW.

If I get there in time to visit Epcot in the evening then it's the entrance music as it starts to reach my ears.

For Animal Kingdom - same thing with the entrance music there.

Magic Kingdom - "Please stand clear of the doors". And I don't feel like I've been until I hear the Dapper Dans.

"Please stand clear of the doors....."

music on Main Street, USA...really, there are so many sounds at the Magic Kingdom :)

Jamie warming up his bagpipes, just as Off Kilter is getting ready to come onstage

The dancing fountains music at Epcot.

The first sound, "Welcome Home," from the bellmen at the Wilderness Lodge.

Then you hear the train in the distance, and the horn on the launch approaching the dock. And the music as you enter the lobby.

The Town Square loop at the Magic Kingdom. (I've been known to skip down Main Street USA during my first visit of a vacation. Pretty bad for a happily married man with wife and two teenage sons trying to fall behind!!) ((Actually I didn't take but a skip or two!))

Entrance Medley at Epcot. Hooray for Hollywood at Disney-MGM. and the quirky, quiet background entrance loop at AK.

And when the Main Street Electrical Parade returned in 1999, I positively bounced for quite a while!

Some of the things that signify we're on vacation are:

"Welcome Home" at check in

The smells of popcorn and cinnamin buns on Main Street

The monorail speech

The Disney Resort signs

The Boardwalk lights at night

Hearing the boats tooting on the water

So many more.... 44 MORE DAYS!!!!! :sohappy:

The complete atmosphere of Main Street USA. Magic Kingdom is always the first park I go to, and I love the ambiance on Main Street! The music, the smells, the chatter of the people, the Mayor and the Main Street residents out visiting with guests to their town... *sigh*...

For me it used to be tuning into the WDW radio station (for those that don't remember it, it was an information station about WDW that you could pick up as you got nearer to WDW in your car).
Does anyone have any recordings of that radio station?
