Our travels take us to the desert of Las Vegas, where The Walt Disney Company hopes to establish themselves in a new location to help stimulate a bustling tourist and budding theme park destination.

After Disney's purchase of the AdventureDome in Las Vegas, redesign the area in your house's image
park-map_orig.png

Tips and Tricks
This is a relatively smaller half-day park, but the intention is to build it up into a Disney experience that will become a 'destination' on the Las Vegas strip.
There's several walking tours available on YouTube to explore and get a sense of the area
You can completely demolish everything and start from scratch, or attempt to modify what already exists. The choice is yours.

Project Managers:
House Akuades: @Tegan pilots a chicken
House Heimlichen: @Mr. Sullivan
House Tintirrino: @Disney Dad 3000

This Book is due on Tuesday July 16th at 11:59PM PST (Disneyland Time)

To clarify for teams perhaps struggling to fit all their ideas into a small plot of land:

Since one team mentioned it in the brainstorming - you're allow demolition of the AdventureDome structure as well as utilization of some of the adjacent parking lot area for expansion (with the inclusion of a decked parking structure to free up more space)

You don't have to do this and doing so will not favor your project one way or another - it's simply to help ease brainstorming if you so choose!

The Mouse Moves to Vegas

For Immediate Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Mouse is coming to Vegas! Following their main competitor, the Walt Disney Company has entered into one of American’s biggest tourist hotspots with its purchase of the Adventuredome adjacent to the Circus Circus hotel. Opening in 1993, Adventuresome has been a staple on the Vegas strip for decades as the city has undergone multiple transformations seeking to ever expand its audience and traveler base. The entry of Disney, the global leader in family friendly entertainment, represents just the latest move as the area has sought to attract more families alongside its traditional casino driven businesses. The House of the Mouse will now join the NFL, NHL, Meow Wolf, and Universal as the latest newcomers to the gaming Mecca.

Whether intentional or not; Disney chose an appropriate theme for items foray into Sin City; villains. Disney Villain’s Big Top is described by the company as one of its first boutique experiences; smaller than its other domestic parks but heavily themed with unique experiences found nowhere else in the world. The company’s catalog of baddies have long been fan favorites and speculation of them getting their own dedicated park has been around for decades.

“We’re extremely excited about this new experience to offer that we feel blends Las Vegas’ tradition of larger than life attractions with Disney’s unique touch of magic and storytelling”. Said seemingly eternal Disney CEO Bob Iger. “Our deep catalog of icon villains gave us a wealth of stories to tell and experiences to share and we believe this is the next step for our parks domestically.” During our interview Iger was asked if now that Disney has completed this park they’d have the resources to fix the Yeti animatronic at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Iger starred silently at the interviewer before beginning to laugh maniacally and mysteriously disappearing in a cloud of dollar bills.

Offering over a dozen rides and attractions within the elaborately rethemed dome, the Disney Villains Big Top promises to thrill, delight, and spook visitors to Vegas for years to come when it opens later this year. The park also will offer a host of unique dining, entertainment, and shopping options all promoting the villains line. Excitement is already high in anticipation of the park’s opening with reservations at nearby hotels reaching post-COVID highs for the time of year. When asked about how a Disney vacation would be different in Vegas one fan whose planning to attend on opening day said “I’m use to paying $15 for a bottle of coke so it won’t feel too different.”

Thank you everyone for their contributions this round and for making this another incredible close decision!

@MickeyWaffleCo. has decided to step away from the game, so there will be no Orient Express this time. We thank him for his musical contributions to the previous book as well as enthusiasm throughout the game, and all the best going forward.

I will try to get the reviews out sometime this morning and the next prompt as well. Thanks for everything and good luck in Book IV!

HOUSE AKUADES:
I’m going to be brutally honest here, I originally didn’t care much for this team’s interpretation of the prompt, but once they put it together, it was pretty clear that there was something cool about the Villain Big Top that was going on!

THE AREA:

@ThemeParkPriest, the backstory is so cool! I love how you included the Horned King, as The Black Cauldron is my favorite of Disney’s darker stories!

Whoever was in charge of aesthetics did well! It sounds like the perfect mix of creepy and fun and I love it!

@OSUPhantom, the Doctor Facilier ride was amazing! I especially enjoyed the mix of Victorian and New Orleans aesthetics!

@ThemeParkPriest, the Oogie Boogie ride is a great one with a neon casino aesthetic that many people would love!

Whoever did Battle For The Big Top made a pretty good coaster!

@WaltWiz1901, you made such an amazing Dark ride/coaster with Escape From The Forbidden Mountain as it is immersive!

@OSUPhantom, Ursula’s Maelstrom was a cool ride about a cool sea witch that me and my brother LOVE!

Whoever made Attack Of The Hydra made a simple, yet very interesting attraction based on the Hydra of Greek mythology!

@TheOriginalTiki, the Pink Elephant mini-golf was a pretty cool experience that I think few people would ever forget!

Whoever made House Of Villains: D-List has made an iconic show, although y’all do mistreat my boy The Horned King!

The shops are cool too!

Well as you can see our teams presentation was a bit, well, broken to say the least.
That doesn’t deter me from reviewing the project though!

HOUSE HEIMLICHEN:

Bayou Noir is such a great concept and I love it as a New Orleans Fan!

THE AREA:

@Pi on my Cake and @Mr. Sullivan, I love the map, park overview, and presentation!

@Outbound, the Rougarou Run is probably the coolest attraction I’ve ever seen here! You took one simple idea from me and ran with it, turning it into the bayou equivalent of Expedition Everest or, perhaps more appropriately, Team NuCitra's Curse Of The Wendigo from SYWTBAI 18.

@CookieMouse, the Firefly Coaster was interesting and it sounds fun.

@PerGron, @JokersWild, and @Lord Fozzinator, y'all did amazing on your Haunted Mansion and I am in love with it! I wish it were real!

@Pi on my Cake, the Scavenger Hunt experience is amazing, especially how you tied it into the real world history of Jean Lafitte!

Finally, we come to Moonlight Bazaar by House Tintirinno, which is probably one of the coolest things I've read in this site. I think @D Hulk's art really makes those Asian street look amazing! @Earlie the Pearlie's shows are just purely amazing, especially that Little Mermaid fountain show! @Architectural Guinea Pig's Spirits Away is a beautiful experience befitting Studio Ghibli's work! @Brer Panther's Trader Sam's is a beautiful piece of work, especially for a Vegas bar! @Earlie the Pearlie's Yeti Hunter’s Club is probably the coolest part about this, although I might be a bit biased towards it because I love Nepal and I made the Disco Dahi's visual aid! @Imagineer Brandon's Royal Dome really sounds like a cool experience themed to Iran! Overall, I LOVE the Moonlight Bazaar and wish that it becomes real!

Update: I'll be honest I'm a bit fatigued after work and don't want to skim the project reviews. Was happy to extend the project as teams needed but it didn't line up great with my schedule last night into today.

Since there is no additional elimination this round given MickeyWaffleCo. stepping down, I'd like to get some rest and review the projects later with a better headspace considering how close I think the rankings are going to be.

That said, I'll be happy to post Book IV now, which is the last Book of Act I (after which there will be an 'Orient Express' experience regardless and after which we will merge into two Houses for Act II).

For the last Book, considering House Tintirrino is now down to 6 players, here's the swap to shake things up for Book IV.

@TheOriginalTiki will be going to House Heimlichen
@Mr. Sullivan will be going to House Tintirrino

Thank you! Book IV and PMs will be posted shortly!

After perusing the streets of Las Vegas, the Houses came upon a familiar brand to Disney Parks - MGM
mgm-grand.jpg

"Wow, I'm missing Disney-MGM Studios about now" @AceAstro said "We really brought the nostalgia back to life there"

enhance-4-jpeg.290429

"It was quite the endeavor, I couldn't imagine designing a whole other park though at this time" @D Hulk stated.

Walking inside the MGM Grand, the some of the members of the Houses were stunned with who they saw at the blackjack table...a former Sorcerer's Apprentice Universe villain... Eisner of L.A.N.D
YD63XEV.jpeg

"So, Imagineers...you like to make fun of my creations...my stuff" Eisner stated

"Um, no, I actually like the Tractor ride" @Tegan pilots a chicken stated "Yeah and I like Dinoland U.S.A!"

"Wait...really?" the former villain began to robotically tear up. "That's so nice"

"Yeah any many of your concepts from the 90s that didn't see the light of day looked really cool" @NateD1226 explained

"Well, I was sent by The Horned King to disarm all of you, but you've given me hope..." Eisner stated
donald-duck-swimming-in-a-lot-of-money-prizm-conceptz.jpg

"Yeah, and I won big at the slots, millions! So...I can actually afford your over-budget concepts" @Disney Dad 3000 responded.

"Well... there is one idea I always wanted to do, we can re-write history in this universe right?" Eisner asked "If you like MGM, you'll love this..." and soon they were back in the 20th Century...

We arrive in the early 1990s. In this timeline, Disneyland Paris is a success and we are beginning to fast-track a 2nd park for the resort. Plans have already been established, the park's layout finalized, and you're brought in by Eisner to 'plus' it.

Your task is to design the first expansion to Disney-MGM Studios Europe
Plot #18 on the map below
bd7c74ca-659b-440c-a0c1-cfa71a91a15e.jpeg

Tips and Tricks
There's several videos on YouTube and articles throughout the web that detail what the plans for Disney-MGM Studios Europe would have been. The video below in my opinion is one of the best and actually the inspiration for the prompt.

Use research to your House's advantage in designing an expansion that 'fits' the park as built.
The plot in #18 isn't incredibly large, but use it however you'd like.

In the spirit of Vegas (not really because I’ll probably be doing this in other rounds), I spun a wheel to determine what project I’ll be reviewing. (It’ll probably be different teams each round)

It was yours, Team Tintirrino

Reviews
  • Really like the logo @Disney Dad 3000 (and by extension, the Asian bazaar theme) (btw I almost thought AGP or Hulk made the logo before checking the credits)
  • Description is nice sets the tone well
  • Really like the facade drawings by @D Hulk (and I actually know most of those places from being a geography nerd)
  • The Little Mermaid show feels very much like other water shows (which I believe are common in Vegas) with a Disney touch, nice job @Earlie the Pearlie (rip les poissons)
  • Really like the muppet show too (is the 4th image real?) (I wonder if you know about the sacred cats project from sywtbai)
  • The transportation ride feels authentic and like a good addition
  • Spirited Away show is also good (also like the gif even though I don’t know what it is) and it makes sense because Ghibli originates from asia (also reminds me of those dinner show things I’ve seen on youtube which is nice)
  • @Brer Panther I also like Trader Sam’s and it also seems unique compared to DL (though still kinda similar) but it’s popular so I don’t mind
  • Also really like the yeti lounge (not just because I like animal kingdom and Everest) but also because it fits well
  • Royal dome lounge is good too (I like the fact that each lounge is different, plus it makes sense why there’s multiple because Vegas and this resort are adult destinations) (I also almost thought that D Hulk made this when it was actually @Imagineer Brandon nice job)
  • Of course there‘s a rickroll, why wouldn’t there be (and yes I used google translate)
Nice job team good luck in Paris
