I don't mind characters in Epcot but I wish Disney would stop focusing on the latest and greatest IP franchise, and create more new, original characters instead!

Buzzy in Cranium Command, Figment in Imagination, SMRT-1 in CommuniCore, Bonnie Appetite in Kitchen Kabaret, etc -- those are kid-friendly but also evoke originality. Those can still be popular if done well - but a lot of these IP infusions are based on what the suits feel will be least risky to the bottom-line. Which from a business standpoint I can't blame them but from a creative standpoint Disney used to let their imagineers run wild.

This being said -- I don't mind Coco or Ratatouille, or Brave for that matter in World Showcase...THAT is the kind of IP infusion I like! Because those films delve into the culture of the nation and transition well to the showcase. Future World is less of a seamless transition because unless it's something small like Symbiosis to Lion King, it'll define the whole pavilion which previously had an interconnected storyline with the rest of the pavilions.

Unless Guardians is going to teach us about the universe of energy on a roller coaster I don't know how it's still connected to the original design:p

Yes!!!! I'm a big fan of using Disney properties. And I don't have an issue with bringing new stuff to the parks. But I do have a problem with nothing original being made

I’m with you on those two. On one hand, there are theme park worthy IPs that not only Disney seems to leave out, but are also represent its culture accurately despite being fictitious (e.g. Coco in Mexico and Mary Poppins in U.K.). On the other hand, you can’t be using franchises to draw in crowds; no matter how relevant.

It’s officially a new smash. It has (working title) next to the name.
That's great to hear, and a great turnaround from Nintendo! The current Smash is only what three years old?

Personally for me the highlight was Mario Tennis as it looks like it'll be fun, and correct me if I'm wrong, but is this the first time it will have online? If so I'm glad to see Nintendo really embracing online, and their onine games lineup is pretty solid.

My biggest what the fudge moment was that sushi game announcement, what even? :bored:

My biggest trigger were the Luigi's Mansion port going to 3DS, not the Switch. Along with the newest remake of Mario + Luigi going to the 3DS next year I honestly think they could've found a way to port it to the Switch, and just let the 3DS kinda die off at this point with Luigi's Mansion being their ast major game. That way there'll be more resources to go into the Switch.

Overall the direct wasn't that great IMO. With that said I do think that all these third parties coming to Switch along big names is great, and this year seems like it's going to be another huge one thanks to Smash.

One last thing I really wished that something would've been said about the Fire Emblem coming out this year. At leat a name or timeframe would've been nice, but alas that was not the case.

Speaking of Coco in the parks, I just ran across this in DisneySea’s Lost River Delta. @tcool123 would love it!

Glowing review of Mystic Manor still stands, @spacemt354, it’s exacty what Disney should be doing more of in every way. (So too is Sindbad’s Storybook Vooyage, which I’m doing next.)

Part of me thinks the mario and luigi 3 remake and luigi's mansion remake are the last major games for 3ds.
Here's why:
bowser's inside story was the last major mario game on ds (I think)
bowser's inside story was also the last mario and luigi game that used the original art style
luigi's mansion dark moon was one of the first 3ds games, so it makes sense to have bookends and have the original luigi's mansion be one of the last games for the 3ds.

I'm going to be honest out of all the remakes that were given trailers this week I think this is the one that I liked the most? I'm not sure just yet, but Christopher Robin and Mary Poppins both left me feeling a little empty, but I'm sure that the next trailer for each film will change my opinion on them. As for the Grinch I did actually launch in the opening with "Happy".

I don’t know; it feels like it’s going to be The Lorax of 2018, given its use of pop songs and how it chooses to portray The Grinch himself.

I just hate it seems studios have to remake everything. Granted, some stories are ripe for a fresh update after time. Many of them I'm up for at least checking out I suppose. This is one of those I'll have to avoid though. If it's not Boris Karlof, I just can't do it. Too much nostalgia for me and he was just too perfect telling that story.
