The snow is falling!

Looks like I'll be using the treadmill for the next few days. The snow is falling hard here on Long Island, and there may be 18" by the time all is said and done! It's pretty, but boy do I hate shovelling. I try to tell myself it's good cross-training, but I never quite seem to convince myself to enjoy the workout!

I'd try and get some training runs out in the cold. The 2010 marathon weekend had the half running in sleet and around -12 celsius in the wind for the full. Lovely icy death traps at the water stations :D

I'm not a runner but please be careful if you go out to run.

It's snowing here in Boston too. We are sitting here with the wood stove burning and planning our next trip. The good news is the Patriots won today.

on a side note of the long island snow. it took me 5 hours to get from Hicksville to Jamaica tonight on the lirr, and another 2 hours to get to my job in the city. I walked 8 blocks in the snow and drifts. running is out of the question. i was in the middle of the street in snow up to my knees.

enjoy your treadmill until people get a chance to clear the roads and sidewalks.

While I would much rather be in my office (bigger monitors, real keyboard, better printers, bigger workspace, etc) it is on days like this that I realize just how nice it is to be able to work remotely.

Stay safe getting back home. Last I looked, the trains are still on a Sunday schedule.

It was fun running in a "Birmingham Version" of snow. :D I will say that after 1:40:00 of running with snow flakes hitting my in my eyes over and over, I was done mentally.

The last 3.5 miles was brutal. I just wanted to be done.

About 10" of snow in the Philly suburbs, but you'd think we got 4' by the way people are reacting. What a disgrace an NFL game had to be canceled. I saw the forecast is for temperatures in the 50's this weekend, but I'm more interested in the Orlando weather for the following week. Do I need to pack a hat and gloves.

Yep, 18 inches here when all was said and done. Against my better judgment, I allowed my 11 year old son to convince me that he wanted to shovel for money and so I turned down the two guys who rang our doorbell with shovels at 8am. Well, my son had the best of intentions, and gave it his all, but I still wound up having to do much more than I wanted to myself, and the job was not complete until 11:45am. Sigh. When I got inside, I was so drenched in sweat that I decided to just change my clothes and jump on the treadmill. At least my office closed today since the plows did not clear our street until 11am. Can't say the same for the hubby - he's a dentist and had to slam his SUV through the unplowed snow early this morning to handle an emergency.

So I've been doing all my runs on the treadmill for the last 10 days for fear of slipping on ice and injuring myeslf, but I was planning on finally doing a longer run outdoors this weekend, and now I hear there's more snow coming on Friday night! Ugh. I hate long runs on the treadmill. Maybe I can figure out a way to squeeze it in tomorrow instead while the kids are at extracurricular activities. Sigh. Enough with the snow already!
