Yeah, Disneyland hotel in Cali has this kind of stuff in the suites

Disneyland Hotel's are still fireworks. These ones are "moving." I guess some people may seem tham as essentially the same, but to me, this difference in design makes them worlds apart.

Finally watched this and it doesn't look that special honestly.

Yeah, this new ride, I don't love it. I don't feel that it's better than the original version in any significant way. It's shorter (right?), has lots of the same robot-looking things, I don't know, it just doesn't do it for me. Might as well have brought over THE buzz ride from WDW.

I do appreciate that it uses the same omnimover style, has the same type of guns, and has the cardboard cutout type of look to it. Usually I like things to be original, but when you're bringing over a shooting ride with a Buzz name, I think it's good to stick to the same style. Early rumors had this using a TSMM system, which would've been kind of weird and would've just bothered by me. Hard to explain.

But my biggest, biggest problem is no buzz animatronic in the queue. WHAT THE HECK?? It's a must. Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin has it. Toy Story Midway Mania has one of Mr. Potato Head. But none for this ride? Terrible.

I think it would've been neat if this was an entirely different ride based on another character/part of Toy Story. Or if it were told through Zurg's perspective. But that would mean riders would be on the evil side fighting good, which is probably a no no for Disney.

Overall, not as unhappy as I could've been, but not impressed either.

I know what you are saying about that one headboard.. but they've done this and the magic mirror effects in some of the various different rooms they've done over the last 5-7 years. I just don't have the motivation to look up which ones it was, if it was the dream suites, or others. They've created so many different specialty rooms I can't keep track of them anymore :D

I asked a mandarin speaker to listen to the well-known pirates video and try to add a bit of explanation. Here's what I got back from this incredibly helpful person:

"The main narrator is Jack Sparrow, and so when he enters he remarks to the ridegoers that treasure must be the reason they came back, and why they want to be a pirate like me!

As they pass by the skeletons, he remarks, "so, do you still want all that gold and treasure?" Well you came to the right place. Let's go and plunder the greatest treasure - Davy Jones's Locker!"

That's when Jack Sparrow materializes (1:38). "Jack Sparrow at your service.. Let's go plunder the locker!"

The pirates in the underwater stocks (3:45) are kinda hard to hear because people are talking... but basically one says "oh yeah, the locker is here!" The one with the deeper voice tells him to shut up, and he stammers "no, no, the locker's not here!"

Davy Jones asks "who is plundering my locker?" To which the offscreen minion replies, "Captain Jack Sparrow!" He says "You all go tell Jack Sparrow... if he wants my locker he's going to havce fight me... prepare for battle" etc etc.

During the battle Sparrow says that "if you want your locker back, come and get it if you can". Then lots of commands to fire, of course.

Once people get out (7:40) Sparrow suggests dividing the spoils, but a voice says that it's all treasures in his dream... Couldn't catch the last part.

Intense stuff."

Something is off about that script. Especially considering the locker is completely different in the movies.

Impressions based solely on the videos:

Increasingly, each generation of new Disney fans thinks of Disney as Disney-The-Media-Giant, not Disney-the-person, and this is the first castle park that, for me, really embodies that viewpoint. This is, through and through, Disney-The-Media-Giant Land. I'm not saying that's terrible, it's just a different vibe.

Pirates, of course, looks astonishing and wonderful. DL's is still my favorite version, but this is a terrific reinvention/new chapter in the ride's lineage.

The castle is my least favorite of all the Disney parks. I'm sure it's amazing in person, but it looks less like a whimsical, magical, impossible place and more like Bob Iger's new summer home.

The Spinning Pooh Pots: I feel so sorry for the ride ops. All kazoos, all the time.

Voyage to Crystal Grotto: Big, dumb ride. Starts with the best scene and ends with a really pretty ad for Disney home video. They should turn the boats around and run it in the other direction.

The Helena Bonham Carter shrine in the middle of everything looks very weird.

Really like the Pan ride, except for the Return to Never Land music. The skull-rock splashdown is something they could maybe add at DL's version, which would be awesome.

The Tomorrowland area looks really empty and sterile. I loved how Darth Vader looked like he was ignoring the crowd behind him intentionally and the Storm Troopers looked embarrassed by Darth's bad manners. Tron looks great. The jetpack spinner--If that's the best version of that concept they could come up with, they should have abandoned the idea.

The Frozen Show: the performers deserve better than being second fiddle to video clips. Is this what the U.S. singalong was like?

The Snow White Castle Staircase Climb looked like a great workout.

Like everyone, I can't wait to see a ride-through of the rapids. It will be nice to see a major attraction that's not IP based.

I found the Crystal Grotto ride to be very cute and fun seeming :)

I think they look great IMO this beat out forbidden journey as far as dark rides go.

Have you visited the park? Just a totally honest question. I don't know whether you're saying that based on the videos, or if you've been on the ride itself.

We haven't directly heard, on here, from anyone who's been on the ride. At least I don't think we have. So that's why I'm wondering.

I was probably too harsh there. I do think it would work better in reverse, though.

The final part of the ride looks kind of lame. The ride is called Voyage to the Crystal Grotto, so I think a finale under the castle (in the "crystal grotto") would've been great if it were a bit more exciting than what's there.

Okay so am I the only one who thinks that this park is coming together really nicely and has some REALLY good attractions that need to find their way to the US? (I'm looking at Tron, the Jetpacks, Pirates, Roaring Rapids, and Camp Discovery)
