The "Secret" Path in Animal Kingdom

Has anyone ever heard of "The secret path?"

I was reading a disney-guide (Walt Disney World for Couples) and it talks about "the secret path"

the description is:

"This is a short buy un-disneylike trail embodies this park's romance of discovery....its not on any map and there are no signs to tell you where it is located.

Hint: Its unpaved and youll know youve found it if you have to ford a small stream on stones to make the journey."

Has anyone found this or have pictures of it or know anything about it! i would love to try to find it on my next trip (end of 2002)

I just went today and walked all over the park and never saw it! Where is it and where does it lead?

I've been on the path many times, BUT the last time I was there (early March) I couldn't find it!!! It had been completely blocked (I could see where it had been, there was a planter or something in the way)...I'm positive I was in the right place.

Your right The Mom, it was blocked the last time I went down too....I think they may be paving it or something because it does not look like they are closing it.

The Secret Path in AK is a little-known, unpaved trail that exists along the walkway between Asia and Africa. This path leads to a bubbling brook flowing past stones set in it allowing wanderers to cross it.

To find the path look for the seating area on the side of the path away from the river. As you walk through the seating area look closely at the brush to the right (as you walk towards Africa), you should see a dirt path leading into the jungle. Follow the path to be rewarded with a beautiful, hide-away.

It was open in January when I was there last, but may not be now.

So much for these paths remaining a secret. There's actually another secret path, but it isn't as glamorous as the main one, and I won't mention anything else to protect it's secrecy.

I know of a few "special paths" too...but disney security doesn't like you going on them....you tend to get kicked out of the parks in a hurry if you use them.
