Trip Report The (second) ONE with enhanced cleaning and (a little less) Physical Distancing. Sept 2020

How is everyone doing out there???

A little background on this trip. This trip was origionally booked as a Food and Wine/Birthday girls getaway with two of my friends. We booked The Poly at 7 months Thursday through Sunday. (One friend’s bday was Thurs, the other was Sunday! Sooooo perfect!!!)
Buuuuut, they are both teachers and were not allowed to go. (Read that again. Not Allowed☹️)
I had the reservation and I wanted to go. My friend, R and I had a trip in April we had canceled. We had rescheduled for October to do a Halloween party (Nope!) and a DVC moonlight madness (Nope again). Then, she lost her job😞 so she came back to work with me. Her Mom, Gpa and Uncle own the business.
“Hey R, want to go to Disney in September instead?”
“Yeah!”
“Should we add a night? I still have 18 points I can use.”
“Yeah”
“Do you think we can get the extra day off?”
She looks at me. I look at her. 😂😂😂
I mean, her Mom makes the schedule.

She booked her flight, bought her park tickets, made her park reservations and we were set.

Tuesday night, September 15th I caught the sunset and headed to bed for an early start the next morning.

Wednesday, September 16 came early. R’s Gma was flying back to Ft Lauderdale an hour before our flight. So we all went together to help her out.

We were not sitting together because our flights were booked seperately. I asked to move us together but I asked on the late side and it was a no go. It was fine. We watched movies. I love Jet Blue TV’s!

Yay! The sign said 45 minute wait. The woman who checked us in pointed out the sign and said it “could” take 45 minutes.
EA7403DA-8F58-4B46-912D-ED39F571F321.jpeg

Overheard on the ME: “Mom, I dont want to go to the Magic Kingdom!”
“Where do you want to go?”
“Legoland!!”
Haha😂
Lets check the weather...

Notice my phone is only at 44%🤦🏼‍♀️

Back of the bus. Not a 45 minute wait but about 20.
D633874A-1BD9-4877-93E2-1CE9628007CF.jpeg

Too far in the back of the bus to get THE SIGN. How about the side of the road? Almost as good???

For the record, we went to Wilderness Lodge, BLT, the Contemporary and then The Polynesian.

We finally made it and were ready to let the fun begin!!

YAY...another Darstarr TR!!!

I'm a little late to the party but I'm all caught up now. They certainly made you go to enough resorts before dropping you off at the Poly! It seems like they are very disorganized at the guest services desk at Poly and you would think that your luggage assistance would be inside the lobby! Love that you have your traditional beer routine at Epcot! So happy to be reading another one of your TR's.

So happy you are here! The organization at the Poly....I can’t think of any other resort that splits up valet and bell services like that.
Anyone else think of one? What other resorts have valet parking? Jambo? Wilderness Lodge? I dont even know, so yeah, it was confusing!

We headed out in search of more food and fun and whatnot and were met by:
Some whatnot🤣

The most beautiful of the three...

We headed into the World Showplace pavilion next to England. It was large, dark and cool. First stop was the mac n cheese booth. We got the lobster and the buffalo chicken mac n cheeses.

And R loves Charcuterie so we got one of those as well. And I think she got the 3 Daughters Raspberry Lemonade hard cider also.

Some pictures of the space. It was pretty cool but empty. Perhaps people didn't realize it was there? (Even though there were two CM’s urging people to come in!-“AC and more booths” was their battle cry.)

Neither mac n cheese really did it for me. I feel like they held back with the buffalo chicken mac n cheese. They should have just gone for it! Going for it = Blue cheese and spicy and “Oh my gosh I need a beer!”

The Charcuterie plate, as you can see, was pretty pathetic looking. The cider was ok, as far as cider goes (😉 @figmentfan423)

We both wanted a Liquid Nitro Chocolate Cake Pop and I was thinking champagne.
We decided we would split an m and m cake pop so I got on line while she finished her charcuterie.

I decided to pass on the overpriced champagne that I have at home in my fridge.

The freezing of the cake pop.

Loved this and totally would have bought it if I had the ability to stroll and eat and drink. But, since all eating/drinking is stationary....I did not need it.

Texted my BIL this pix. “Do you like this?”
3 hours later (about 2 hours and 50 minutes too late) he confirmed he did. Would have made a good bday gift too. Rats!

This is an important announcement: R can shop!!! I am not a huge shopper at wdw. I browse a little here and there. Not this trip. We shopped. Like for real.

The number one item on my list to eat this trip was the Goat Cheese and Onion Tart from the France booth. I have been dreaming of it ever since last September. It is, as my MIL and @PineapplePrincess would say, out of this world delicious. R wanted the Brioche cake with raspberry coulis and the La Vie en Rose slushy so we got on line.
C41061CD-13E9-4C37-B06F-E2280081FC55.jpeg

Except can anyone see what is not on the menu??? No Goat cheese tart😞 (“Oh, that was removed two weeks ago for the escargot.”)

R got in line and I thought I would “get over it” with @DisneyGigi ’s fave, Grand Marnier slushy.

He was all alone. He seemed to be French (read that as he was rude😉).
I got the Grand Marnier slushy and the Citrone slushy. I do have two hands after all.

Let me back up a Oui bit 😉.
On our walk to France I pondered out loud, “why hasn’t our instacart order been delivered?”
So I opened the app to see what was up. What was up was, I had put the 17th as the delivery date instead of the 16th🤦🏼‍♀️ I changed it to be delivered within the next two hours.

Sitting in France, overlooking the riff raff river eating drinking our festival snacks we overheard a Mother yelling at her daughter about an assignment she didnt turn in. I was laughing because it sounds like me. In fact, one day, last year, I said to AJ, “I am really tired of getting these missing assignment notifications.”
AJ: “Turn off notifications.”
Me: 😡

Anyhow, I then get a text from my instacart delivery person, Jessica. Turns out she is a Cali Grill Server who has been furloughed. She gushes over the Poly and we text back and forth for a bit and then I went to the instacart app and increased her tip. Any Cali Grill regulars know Jessica??

R loves France. The real one.
We ventured into the pavilion to use the ladies room. And she shopped. She got the France ears and something else but I didnt write it down so 🤷‍♀️

Rides:
“R, what are your must do’s?”
“Frozen and Soarin’”

Continuing on we find ourselves face to face with this:

924DB725-36F2-4A3A-BA40-CC02E0C00F98.jpeg

Me: “we have to get the cheese bread! Everyone ( @ajrwdwgirl ) I know raves about it!”
E3BC7395-2C2C-48D9-A70D-3D3C470321E2.jpeg

R: “Needs a side of marinara.”
Me: “Yeah, pretty bland. Maybe I have the Rona and can’t taste.”
Anyhow.....I wanted to like it but.....

Look at that beautiful palm tree!

Another PoL (proof of life) for R’s Mom. See her new ears???
C0DE87ED-7E1A-44AB-B9C8-077E37DEA3B5.jpeg

My second most anticipated dish, after the Goat cheese tart that did not happen, was the Hummus fries from Morocco. I had shared one last year with four of us. I was excited there were only two of us this year!
1BA35746-DC4E-4C77-A70A-930E0FF0D7F8.jpeg

6D056B0F-06A3-46D0-8766-AF7582172491.jpeg

And a Casa beer which I always like. But, you may be asking, why are the toppings on the side? R is allergic to onions and peppers. Not pepper the spice. And oddly not onion powder. Hummus is not usually made with onions or peppers. (Chick peas, tahini paste, lemon juice, garlic, salt and olive oil are the traditional ingredients.) Buuuut, we broke a “fry” apart and R decided she better not, just to be safe. So I dumped the good stuff on top and chowed down.
On her list was the Sushi flowerpot from Japan so she went to get that since we had a nice table. I really wanted a Kirin draft from Japan but we were hydrating so I thought maybe not. I do love Kirin on tap though. I worked at a fish market/restaurant back in Cali when I was home from college and we had Kirin on tap. I have never seen it on tap anywhere else besides Epcot.

*Note
We did eventually figure out that every eatery has an allergy book.

We continued on to Germany. We were too full to eat or drink anything but the restroom sounded good.

*insider tip: mask getting to you? Once you are locked in your stall pull it down for a mini mask break.

We walked to the restroom via the trains.
I might have been a smidge tipsy, but it was a happy tipsy! I was making myself laugh. Sometimes I amuse myself...we had just left Japan and can you see the lizard on the top right of the house?
B9535960-D7BE-4199-804F-6F7F880F8B69.jpeg

What about here on the rock?
FF837214-DB71-4BDB-8B4F-1F6879230B13.jpeg

Well, I was thinking, this little lizard was huge in the tiny village. Like Godzilla.
R didnt get it 😒

Then I continued, as we passed these four I said really loudly, “What?! I cant hear you, it’s so loud here!”
B9ADE7E0-7C13-4481-ABB7-AFCD0A307296.jpeg

The guy in the green shirt gave me a dirty look. The older guy in the navy hat got it and laughed (courtesy laugh? Perhaps) I hope he explained the joke to the young whipper snappers after I left😂
