I DO wish the Disney Channel would have more Mickey though and bring back some of the awesome old shows Duck Tales, Tale Spin, Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck.

Yesss, please bring back Duck Tales and Rescue Rangers. When ever I see my sister watching Disney channel these days all I ever see on it is endless amounts of "Hilliary Duff programs" and "Thats So Raven".

I remember when I used to get up early on Saturday mornings to watch Ducktails and Rescue Rangers, for some reason I all ways remember the episode with Fatcat in Canterbury Castle, lol.

Plus, does anybody remember the old Mickey Mouse show they used to have in, I think it was Toontown (I was young when I saw it, 1990 I think), and Mickey and friends had to blow the safe open because scrooge Mcduck had locked him-self inside, lol good times.

I actually just got my latest issue of "Child" magazine in the mail today and on the page talking about entertainment and new shows and movies for kids was the following:

"Next month, the new 3-D animated series Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (ages 2 to 5) premieres on the Disney Channel. With a similar name as the popular '50s variety show, this song-filled program teaches kids about shapes, numbers, and more-with a little help from the timeless mouse and his friends."

It may not be a feature film, but it is new exposure for our fave mouse with the youngest set.

My son, by the way, is 2 1/2 and absolutely knows who Mickey is and ADORES him. His 2nd birthday was a Mickey themed one and he has decided that when we update his bedroom and put him in a full sized bed instead of the toddler bed, he wants a Mickey room. House of Mouse is one of his favorite shows!

My son knows Mickey and Co. real well. When he was a kid and when every other kid was watching Barney, I had my son watching Mickey, and Disney. We have almost all the movies on VHS from back then. That is what his videos consisted of. Just Disney (inc. Mickey) and animal videos.

there may also be the chance that mickey may go 3D cos in one of the christmas DVDs the disney characters are in Pixar style 3D and so this may be the way that Disney are heading. especially since disney have acquired pixar again.


on a side note how fast did those nude pics go of that woman in animal Kingdom, it was only there fo about 10 minutes. well done for deleting it fast.

A follow up on my own post. You CAN get Duck Tales Volume One and Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers Volume One on DVD.

Anyone know the stage show I was talking about? Pictures? Videos?

OF COURSe i remember this show. Because it was my favorite too. I am sure i have pictures somewhere and a video of it (cuz i remember looking at it recently). But they are at home (im at college) and they are not digital (which means it requires lots of work to get it on the web). So all we have are our memories.

I see no issue with him going away. Even in the 1970s when I was growing up, he was not used in a lot of things yet I fully knew who he was. He is probably the most recongnizable character in the world.

He was always meant for shorts for the most part, not full length. If Pixar did a movie with him, it would not be as huge as the existing Pixar movies. He is already a character actor if you will playing in many different roles. I don't see a full length movie being himself working (at least not in the success of the other Pixar films). The Three Musketeers is great but it is not a blockbuster.

Anyway, here is a good test since Toy Story was the picture mentioned in the begining of this. Go show 25 people ages 3 and up a picture of Mickey Mouse and a picture of Buzz Lightyear. I would bet just about all 25 (if not all) will know Mickey's name but not all or even close will know Buzz's name. I am not talking about asking fellow Disney nuts, just general population.

I think mickey is safe and my children 8 and 5 have classic disney , watch house of mouse on disney channel, have once upon a xmas and twice upon a christmas and tons of other disney tapes featuring mickey.

I am a gamer but that is just sad, sorry. At least it is a game that is ok for all ages I guess.

But I still say, go and poll 25 people on Mickey vs. Buzz and more will know Mickey. In fact, I bet if you poll 25 people Mickey vs. Super Mario more will know Mickey, more would know Buzz.

Granted this poll was based on cartoon characters so I don't think Super Mario would be in it but this was taken from a peanuts site:

My 5 year old (who is all about the princesses) has recently made a transition to ALLLLL Minnie. She absolutely Loves Mickey and Minnie and the only movie she has seen with the Mickster is Philharmagic.

I think the shorts idea before movies would be a great idea. They wouldn't have to be new either. I think they could really show the old color shorts before new movies. Most people now-a-days have never seen these shorts or could be refreshed with these cartoons.

It would be cheaper than creating new cartoons, and people would still be entertained.

They need to add a classic Disney network to cable, sort of what Boomerang is to Cartoon Network for all the old school stuff. New House of Mouse episodes would be nice,too, but I doubt that'll happen.

I think a Classic Disney channel would be great! They could show a lot of the "classic" cartoons and also all the old live action shows too, like Davey Crockett, Zorro and all the nature series.

Start with Vault Disney, then Mousterpiece Theater, Good Morning Mickey, and WHY have they not brought back the early 90's MMC with all the superstars in it as kids. That would be eaten up -- even if it is dated. Kids would get a kick out of it -- and at least we could skip the 3am re-airings of lizzy, raven and put on something that i would actually watch.
