I'm still waiting for Toy Story 21, Lion King 7 and Cars 5

No... direct on video will continue... too much money involved...

When I'm reading the paper, I quickly lose interest in the article when I get to the end (or what I thought was the end) only to be greeted with "continued on A2". Similarly, when reading an article such as this, and I come to the bottom, only to find that there are two more pages, I suddenly no longer desire to read on. Call me lazy, but if they can't tell their story in one page, then I'm no longer interested. :lookaroun

Online, I agree with you. I don't know why they do that.

But the actual paper you hold in your hands can only fit so much ink on the page. :p

The sequels will be finished after Little Mermaid III as the article states. Keep in mind, this site is not Jim Hill and they don't report something or write about something unless it's a fact. Most of the people who read these articles are very interested in pursuing a career in animation and I just thought that it would be interesting to let you guys know that the sequel trend is coming to an end.

Lasseter doesn't like sequels, never has, which is why they've decided to do away with the sequels. This apparently does not include spin-offs...which are not sequels, they are original stories involving already established characters.

and no need to worry about any animators losing work over this, they won't. All of the sequels have been outsourced to any of a number of studios that used to exist....Canada, China, Austrailia were all cheapquel studios that Disney used for these films, zero of the feature animation guys were involved unless they absolutely chose to involve themselves (Andreas Deja working on Bambi II for example). Cinderella III came mostly from the now closed Austrailia studio, they did some of the best quality sequel animation and it's unfortunate that Disney closed that studio. The only work done here in the states was story work and storyboarding which occurred at the DTV studio, that was then shipped overseas to be animated.

The films are a huge source on income...no doubt there, but with new management comes new thought processes and the new managment always disagreed with Disneys stance on sequels. Disneys sequels were made to strictly make the company fast money while (in most occasions) making the artform look bad, the Pixar sequels are ones that are intended to look good and not compromise the originals like the most of Disney sequels did (Check out Tarzan and Jane for a good example of that....ugh...)

DisneyToon Studios head Sharon Morrill has no mixed feelings over the end of an era. "I knew from early on when I first started that we weren't going to be doing 4s and 5s," says Morill. "I think we had a great run, but we have to be fresh and innovative, otherwise we would've gotten stale."

When I first read the article, this stood out to me....but maybe it was just me.
