The Park That Needs A Make Over..Any Thoughts On What Could Be Done?

Disney's Hollywood Studios needs a MAJOR UPGRADING

Epcot needs to reimagine Future World into Discoveryland (it would fit better), Instead of it being about the future, make it like a discovery type of land.
It would fix that part of the park IMO

Animal Kingdom is getting Avatar, so I cannot say much other than get that park some nighttime entertainment.

Magic Kingdom to me is the only really full day park. Could use a couple new attractions and brand new entertainment, but still a full day park.

All the non-MK parks have problems that need to be addressed.

Epcot is the most problematic. As many have pointed out, its optimistic spirit has crumbled a bit since its EPCOT Center origins, and at this point, any real thematic cohesiveness in Future World is on life support. Many attractions are inferior to those that preceded them. The problem is that the park nonetheless easily provides a full day of things to do, many of which likely do pretty well on guest satisfaction surveys. In other words, I'm not sure its problems are really on Disney's radar of things to address in the long run, since it at least functions as a full day theme park.

DHS's problems are completely different. The quality of its existing attractions is very strong - the problem is that there isn't enough of them, earning it the reputation by many as a half-day theme park. It also has a serious deficiency of family rides, leading to extreme pressure on one of the few it has, Toy Story Midway Mania. The easy solution, of course, would be to add some high-quality and high-capacity family rides in the vein of TSMM, which would both fill out a day there and spread out the family crowds more evenly. A Muppet Studios expansion, some Indiana Jones or Star Wars attractions for the Lucas area there, some more Pixar attractions, or even a high quality Great Movie Ride renovation to make it more interesting to kids, would all be effective for this. Why Disney hasn't done this yet is beyond me. The one problem is that the park has a hodgepodge layout and unconventional thematic framework that would make expansion a bit difficult.

AK has problems similar to DHS's in that it lacks a full day of things to do for many people, but is fortunate in that its theme is much more established, making for a clearer direction of how to expand. It also has a much more organized layout, as well as clearer and more accessible plots for expansion. And with Avatar on the horizon, hopefully its half-day problems are on their way to being solved.

All the non-MK problems that need to be addressed.

Or, could it be, that everyone is trying to make the non-MK parks into the MK?

Of course, yes, the other parks all have issues and I agree with many of them. But we seem to be of the thought that all Disney parks are created equal*, all are meant to fill the same needs of the MK, etc. Which it's not always the case, of course.

Not a disagreement with you, but just another way to look at it.

*Yes, before someone interjects, they all have equal prices, but that's a marketing and logistics item, I'm referring to the quantity/quality/selection of the attractions.

Gahh, that was a typo. I changed it to "All the non-MK parks have problems that need to be addressed".

You're right though, that the resort has been skewing toward making each park more like the MK, especially Epcot.

My first thought was Studios. I really enjoyed it's equivalent in Paris when I visited that. It was tighter, less things that I felt I had to skip, just felt... newer. A fresh coat of paint goes a long way sometimes.

But, at the World... while Studios needs some help, I think Epcot needs it more. It was my favourite park, but on my last trip it was just a very ho-hum experience. Unless something changes, the next time I go I would skipping Nemo, Ellen, Imagination, probably Test Track (just not worth the wait). Some of these are things that have changed, but not for the better.

Since they asked about new buildings at the park and not just changes inside of existing buildings.

Living Seas (didn't open with the park)
Test Track
Mission Space
Soarin
Italy
Mexico
Japan
World Showcase Pavillion (special events only)

These are the only newer buildings (completely removed the old) that I can think of.

Looking at other changes to existing buildings would be many more changes to the park.

Title led me to believe this would be a post about Hollywood Studios.
Hit the nail on the head right there, EPCOT doesn't need to change it's great as it is, although I wouldn't miss anything currently in the Imagination pavillion and a new country/new attraction within a country wouldn't go a miss..
