The Park That Needs A Make Over..Any Thoughts On What Could Be Done?

You know, all the parks are so wonderful. We love going to all of them and have been going for 26 years now, BUT the one Park that doesn't seem to change at all Is EPCOT. The physical part hasn't reall y changed at all. Same buildings ( some new things added in them ) but its been the same since the begining. As an example Animal Kingdom adding everest, Magic Kingdom adding splash ( granted been awhile ago but still added while epcot hasnt added anything) Hollywood studios adding RRC...EPCOT just remains the same. AM I missing anything? Do you remember Epcot adding anything to its physical parts? Seems to me it just could use a little makeover after 20+ years...something to add a little buzz. Any thoughts on what they could do?

Horizons replaced by Mission: Space
World of Motion replaced by Test Track
Added Soarin' to The Land
Communicore replaced by Innoventions

Various iterations of other attractions.

Lots has changed over the years at EPCOT.

The above is by no means a comprehensive list.

Epcot has changed not too little, but too much.

Much of the old 'haute cuisine' excitement has been demolished and replaced by uninspired 'junk food' experiences. As a resultit can be a bit of a boring park nowadays.

Half the money Disney has spend to demolish timeless quality family E-tickets (Imagination!), could've bought all the new rides in WS we've been hoping for since forever.

Agreed.

Also, change for change sake is not generally good.

I don't think change was for the sake of change. One of the complaints that was out there before about EPCOT was that it was "too educational." I guess people don't like thinking while on vacation. The attractions are a bit more playful while keeping to the spirit of the park.

Someone tell that to the Smithsonian in DC then. They need to hurry up and close.

personally I would like to see more edutainment at EPCOT
there are some of us who would like to travel the world but cannot actually
afford to globe trot but thats just my opinion

Studios is the park that needs the biggest change. It's a park that doesn't have a cohesive theme. Many elements of the original studio theme have been ruined thanks to the stupid Hat. This park needs a DCA style reinvention that would include some rather drastic changes. I'm gonna post a thread about this in the Imagineer forum. Look for it.

Im talking about actually building new rides in new buildings not just replacing attraction in same building...all the same since start

The Studios needs the most work in terms of adding more things to do and see. Epcot, as others have said, has changed. Sadly, just not for the better.

I agree, to a point, that EPCOT needs some love. With 3 young kids, it's easily a half day park for us. The kids could care less about World Showcase, aside from Mexico & Norway. Studios, I agree whole-heartedly, needs the most attention. It seems like there is no longer any 'flow' to the park. The other parks have a 'loop-around' feel as far as park layout goes. The Studios is like hitting dead ends and turning around. The Studios needs more kid appeal as well. As usual, this is all my opinion and may differ from others! LOL

Again, they're not "all the same since start". Buildings have been removed and replaced with new buildings. Soarin' was added outside The Land. The Imageworks building has been re-purposed as have the Captain EO and Innoventions buildings.

Your basic premise of no changes since EPCOT opened is simply not correct.

There is very little in the way of real estate in Future World that could be used for additional buildings. World Showcase has space for new pavilions and there has been talk of possibly building, but nothing concrete thus far.

I agree.. the sad thing about the studios is that the attractions they do have are AMAZING. I think the park is actually just too small in terms of ground space. Honestly, I'd like to see the lights camera action done away with... its a pretty cool show the first time you see it, but then you know the tricks. The stage and show area take up a crapload of space. Not sure what I would like to see there, but it could be used better.

Mission Space? Soarin'?

Epcot may have issues, but so much has been added since 1982. Futureworld alone is in its 2nd version... The Land and Imagination their 3rd.

Epcot has developed far beyond EPCOT Center. To answer your question... DHS needs the help in the respect you talk about.

The only full day park is mk, all the other parks imo are severely lacking in rides, ak needs rides the most, dhs needs some dark rides, and epcot can use some more in both future world and world showcase..

Build the rides disney! I've said it time and time again, people will keep coming back for new rides in droves, but when have you ever heard someone say "omg I HAVE to go to epcot, they have a new show!" shows are nice extras to have, but people come for the rides!

Update DHS

This park, is by far, our least favorite park. The rides and shows are sooooo
outdated. Breathe some new life into the park. :brick:

i love EPCOT to bits, but i havent been going that long.. 12 years and im 26 and i feel it is just soo big it needs a lot of attention, i think they should add some new countries, update some (not like mexico, i loved the orginal) and add some rides. And when i say rides i am all for the edutainment, i loved it as a kid and i know my kids will love it but even with the new rides in future world there is some areas that have had no love...
