The Park Formerly Known as Disney's Hollywood Studios? Yep ...

Food for thought... going back to the drawing board, if the imagineers were going for "the Hollywood that never was" why did they choose the replicate an already existing theater. Why not build an entirely new art deco old timey Hollywood theater and then make it a Disney original. Get me an imagineer circa 1985!!!!!

I think the meaning of the 'Hollywood that never was' dedication wasn't that they were making a fictional Hollywood, but more a nod to anyone who complained it wasn't authentic - they know it was never accurately like that in real life, but it is meant to be a vision of Hollywood that people *think* they remember/did exist, a bit like Main Street USA, or Frontierland.

It's a nostalgic 'Hollywoodized' version of the golden age of movies, and something like the Chinese Theater is so iconic for that era that I guess they felt it would anchor the park in reality, ready for the Citizens and street shows to really make you feel like you were living through the golden age of cinema.

im all for the name change and a new park icon/weenie. i kind of hope that Hollywood isn't included in the name, as a lot of films these days aren't even made "in" hollywood anymore...

id go with something more like DCA's name change and just have Disney's Florida Adventure. or something less bland...

And why does it need to be part of a brand?

Okay..... I really must not have been clear. One more shot here. In a previous posting I stated that the new icon for the park should be a Disney icon, or one of unique design that people can begin to recognize as that park's icon. It does not have to be a branded icon, but if it is then it will be a Disney brand icon.

So should Sleeping Beauty Castle be replaced with something more unique or Disney? The theater works as a part of a nostalgic Hollywood experience that is its own.

I really don't care if they use the theater, the water tower, or a giant ball of yarn. You seem to be reading something into my comments. Something that obviously is not there. Have a good day. ;)
