The origins of the "I'm going to Disneyworld" quote?

Disneyland or Disneyworld, either or.

However, the Most Valuable player of the Super Bowl always shows up in the parade a day or two after at Disney World. This happens every year. When did this saying become popular? It didn't just start with Football did it?

Was it an athlete that first shouted it after a championship game? I can't remember.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it started with football yes. I'm pretty sure Disney had some sort of deal with the NFL and that's why they do it... but I have no sources or anything, so uh I'd like to know just as much as you

It was the 1987 Superbowl, when Phill Simms of New York Giants look at the pre-planned camera and answered the question with his paid-for "I`m going to Disneyland" reply.

In Jack Lindquist book 'In Service to The Mouse' he talks about how the whole idea came about and how they had to set up the contracts and everything. It is a great read with a lot of fun bits like that in it!

The "origins" is that it isn't a spontaneous quote at all -- it was PAID ADVERTISING by Disney Corp during the Super Bowl and the quote came directly from the advertising company, word for word, the way they wanted it to be heard across America in the commercial they aired minutes later....
