The ORIGINAL Imagination Ride

So, there's like 20 Horizon threads (which I loved mind and was really, really depressed to hear it had been shut down) and another dozen If You Had Wings/Dreamflight threads (which I can't remember ever going on) but......where's the most missed ride ever? The original Imagination ride?

When I think about it being gone, I swear, I honestly want to cry. I can still see it in my head. The huuuuge line that would wind back-and-forth past the glass elevator and the great play area afterwards. The new Imagination ride, despite bringing back Figment, is so barren and...pointless.

I've seen a number of pictures on the web of the ride itself (for which I'm so thankful for!) but I can't find any of the queue area or the old play area. Does anyone have images of either? I'd love to see it again.

Have you ever been to www.figmentsimagination.com ? Go there and relive the magic of the classic. It's the only way I've been able to see the original, as I never got to ride it.

I have seen that site. It's a good one. There's not enough dedicated to it in my opinion!

Oh, we DO Miss JII! Before you joined there have been countless debates regarding this attraction, The Image Works, Makin` Memories and Magic Journeys... ahhh...

I actually hated the original Imagination ride. But then again I am not really fond of the 2 other versions.

But the original Image Works was the coolest place ever.

Your tribute video isn't up there yet. I'm assuming that it will be up when version 6.0 comes online.

Oh my god, me too. My Love has to hold me back. I sometimes have dreams about running up there. I want to see it for myself so badly.

Someone online said they talked their way up the stairs that that most of it was still sitting up there. But I taked to a CM to find out if there was any way I could get up there (a tour or anything) and she said she went up and it was empty. But she was so young she didn't "get" why us "older adults" (!) saw in the ride or why we're all so obsessed over it.

So it remains a nagging mystery to me. I desperately want to just run up the stairs one day. If I weren't worried about being banned from WDW (a fate worse then death!) I'd probably do it.

red and yellow are kodak colors

i loved the orginal figment ride. there was no real reason for them to change. i remeber my mom buying me the stuffed old version of figment with the kodak colors shirt on. thank god disney put him bac in the ride! but did anyone even think to rmrber dreamfinder, i miss him and his ballon bike that had all the different ideas to spark ones imagination. i dont feel that ride will be right until they put dreamfinder bac in it!

That's good, though my only problem is that I'm not a premium member. I hope that TJ manages to get more work done on the new version of Figment's Imagination, I've been waiting for a really long time for him to get that done...

I was 10 when I found out that my favorite ride was gone forever. I cried for days, and when we went to Epcot the next year and got in line for the new one, I started crying and didn't stop until that horrible ride was over. My mom told me that they keep all the old ride stuff in some kinda vault, so maybe they'd bring it all back. She was just trying to cheer me up. That'll never happen, and it is really depressing. I've kept my Figment plushie on my bed since then, since I no longer carry it around everywhere I go (bit too old for that, heh). Figment's back, but he's not the same. The dreamfinder is gone, and Disney's gotten a few nasty emails, but the original is gone forever. So sad.

What I will always remember about Jounrey into Imagination was the sheer fun and happiness that it provided to my family. The ride itself was so colorful and vibrant and sing songy. It was a super ride. And remember when they took your picture and then showed it later on, with a huge DreamFinder sitting behind a camera turning a crank.

Oh, how that was such a fun ride. Big smiles all around!!

And, oddly enough, I always remember waiting a long time to board the ride (but then again, we only ever went over Easter week)
