I'm far too giddy about this. Is it wrong to be 28 and the biggest event you're looking forward to all summer is HP release? :lookaroun

I feel the same way! I am so excited about tonight! (And to think, a year ago, I wasn't a HP fan to begin with!) Nothing wrong with being 28 and this is the biggest event you are looking forward to b/c I'm 21 and it's the biggest thing I've got going!

Technically, the book isn't released until tomorrow. ;)

Well, who cares about a silly technicality such as that. I'm going by my day which I define as time between when I wake up and the time I go to sleep. I will have HBP in my hands before I go to sleep tonight. Unless some stuns, petrifies, or puts me in a full body bind.

B&N called. They're going to start giving out wristbands today at 5pm. But they're expecting a line earlier then that to get the wrist band.

I don't have a car! I can't get there to get my wristband.

Just finished reading the chapter by chapter summaries on harrypotterfacts.com and am allllll ready to go! Bring on the Half-Blood Prince!

And this could be my final post in this thread until after I finish the book so I don't accidentally read a spoiler. So....happy reading everyone!! :D

Ha, I find it very funny that at this point I am getting more Harry Potter info from a Disney World site than I am from any Harry Potter sites!

Are those chapter titles for real? I'm practically having a nervous breakdown coming up with ideas of what they could mean!

Anyway, I don't even post here that often, but I wanted to thank Miss M. After I read your post about your bookstore giving our bracelets at 5, I freaked out and called my Borders, only to find out they're starting at THREE! I don't get out of work until three! So I'll have to go over. But anyway, thank you so much, you just saved my day, if it weren't for you, I probably would have wandered over to Borders at 9 tonight and not gotten my bracelet!

I'm looking forward to the book, but I'm also looking forward to not going to the midnight release.

For Goblet of Fire, we got there around 11:30. Got in a looooong line, and picked up our book around 12:45.

For Order of the Pheonix, we decided to try to get there a little earlier, so we showed up at about 10:30, but they were assigning people to four different houses, and then the houses were randomly selected to decide what group could get their books. Ours was the last house, and we were there until about 2:30.

This year I talked my son into just waiting until Saturday morning.

Hey, no problem! I didn't know either until they called to let me know my pre-order was available for pickup tomorrow. (Duh, right?) I mentioned, "Or 12:01am tonight, right?" And he sighed and mentioned the bracelets. Woah! They didn't tell me that when I pre-ordered it!

Thankfully, the amazing Love of mine is getting off work early so we can go get a bracelet. I have no idea what this means in terms of the lines and getting the book and whatnot. Eep. This is my first midnight release party. I'm a little frightened! :)

Tell me about it! All the stores seem to have left a whole lot of details out about these release parties!

And I'm very glad to hear that you resolved your problem! I don't know if it's working the same everywhere, but I got a cardboard slip, there are giving out of I think 2,000 of them (I was #7!) and then starting at midnight they will be calling people in groups of 25 or 50 to buy the book! I can't wait!

yep...more or less that's what's happening b/c I just went to get my wristband from B&N (I'm number 96, my friend is 97) and the guy told me that they'd be lining people up around 11:45 and then letting the people who preordered get their books first by calling groups of 50 to get the book. After that, people who just wanted to get the book tonight and didn't pre-order will get orange wristbands and they will go last.

Just got back. Little yellow wristband says I'm #54! Boo-yah baby!

Festivities start at 8pm (Busch Gardens will be there with animals and stuff!) though there were already THREE news channels there when I was in line for my wrist band. I'm in the first group so my purchase return time is between 11:30-12:00. First group!

Weeeeeeee!

Ahhhhhhh!! I just stood in an hour long line and was thankfully able to grab my #98 wristband (it's only thanks to you guys that I even knew I'd need one!). I think I should have left my car at the bookstore and had my mom pick me up and drive me back later! It's ridiculously crowded over there. I don't remember it being this bad for OotP. But anyway.

The funniest thing happened as I'm driving home just now that I think pretty much sums up the evening. On a woody, winding, and dark back road, my car got SWOOPED by a gigantic VULTURE!! I mean, it almost hit my windshield...and it definately would have taken it out if it had. I laughed the rest of the way home. I mean, COME ON!!! I know it's bad luck if a black cat crosses your path...but what the heck does a black buzzard mean?? I'd like to think it's a good omen. Well, that, or maybe it was a real live magical creature come to join in the HP festivities. :p
