Weren't they grey? I know they're half-crab, half-scorpion, with no visible face. They'd have been great on screen! But no, let's make up a whole chase secene with the dragon, that's sure to work on video games and toy sets!
Yeah, they were grey.
Hehehe! I thought the same thing about the dragon. It was a cool addition, but I was sitting there the whole time thinking to myself "BUT THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!" lol!

Didn't read the books.
Seen all the movies so far.
3rd one was pretty good.
This one was better.

Did anyone else get a kick out of Jarvis Cocker appearing for no discernable reason?
Also, does anyone know where I can buy myself a tuxedo robe?

Jarvis Cocker was playing the lead singer of the band "The Weird Sisters". He was at the Yule Ball as entertainment. I want some tuxedo robes (dress robes)also! Harry's were sharp.

So that was The Weird Sisters, then! For some reason I thought it was supposed to be a girl's group in the book. Either way, after listening to their songs on the soundtrack, I've fallen in love with them...especially "Do The Hippogriff"....SUCH a catchy tune, that! "This Is The Night" is really wonderful as well, though...sounds a lot like Franz Ferdinand, which makes me happy. :)

YOu have to read the books, well read the 1st one and tell us what you think of it!! :sohappy:
I strongly recommend reading the books, as well. I didn't really get into reading them until I got to the 3rd book, though, and my sister didn't relly get into it until the 4th (which she's completely read since Sunday). You might could even skip the first two and go right into reading the 3rd and 4th, as the movies leave out a LOT of the important little details. Give them a try, though, Bairstow. If you enjoy the movies, you won't be disappointed in the books! ;)

Ok, I just got finished watching a special on A&E about HP & the GOF...it was really quite interesting and I suggest that if any of you can catch it, watch it.

I do have an answer about why Dumbledore is the way he is. They spoke about this in the show. To the director (and I'm sure lots of other movie people) this is the first time that Dumbledore is infallable. (I more than likely spelled that wrong.) This movie is supposed to show that despite what we believe as readers of the book, that Dumbledore doesn't know everything. This movie is also supposed to show that Dumbledore is actually scared for Harry because he knows that something is going on that isn't good, but doesn't know exactly what it is yet. He fears for Harry. (Which I think actually does make sense when you look at the fifth book and the fact that Dumbledore doesn't have much contact with him because he is scared of what might happen if he would.)

Therefore, those of you who thought that Dumbledore was this perfect person might have been mistaken and this movie is supposed to prove that Dumbledore has flaws...and leads to the idea that perhaps these flaws end up causing his downfall. (Sorry if I might have ruined anything...but I figure most of us here knows what happens in later books).

hehehe No problem. That one spoiler actually got ruined to me months ago. :fork:
Ergh...I hate that. The day the book came out here, a librarian who had already read it blurted out the identity of the Half-Blood Prince at lunch. Man, I was tweaked off.

(Thankfully, the book still rocked hard.)

Anyone else notice Hermione reading "Order of the Phoenix(UK Edition)" just before Fred and George tried to put their names in the Goblet of Fire?

Interesting, thanks for pointing that out. Are you positive? I want to make sure before I call The Leaky Cauldron and tell them.

Also, Mike Newell says he is open to directing film 7. So far, he is my choice.

I checked with imdb.com which said that she had one of the US books, but I own a UK copy of OotP which has Fawkes on the front cover and the color scheme sure looked right for it to be that one. I know that the book itself probably wasn't, but it was at least the cover for it. My wife also pointed out that at the Yule Ball, Moody is wearing a kilt and there is a ferret on his sporran.

Well, I finally watched it this past weekend, and it pretty much confirmed what I expected. I thought it was very rushed, over al, especially the beginning and the end, which is the best part of the book. I felt that if they hadn't expanded/invented on the action scenes so much, maybe they could've left more time for character development. I see what they had to do with the main plot, since they cut out all elf references, but I still think they dumbed down too much the storyline. The tongue thing was just lame.
They're sticking to the visual tone established in PoA, which I don't like, but at least the kids are kinda wearing witch clothes more, which is good.
Now, I see how they could cut what they did from Goblet without dramatically affecting the storyline, but I really don't see how they're gonna do it for "Phoenix". I mean, the book is bigger than "Goblet" and it's mainly plot and dialogue. The only big action sequence is the fight in the end. Maybe if they decrease the number of times Harry blows up... That may actually be an improvement on the story. "Phoenix" didn't take the #1 spot on my list just because of the way Harry acts the whole time.
In any event, yeah, good movie, and definitely better than PoA. I wish Newell had been called to do that one, he could've saved it.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I know it's been said before, but could someone please fire Gambon? I don't think Dumbledore is the kind of part where you need an actor's "personal touch". He's ruining a great character. I just finished "Half-Blood Prince", and there's a certain point where it's mentioned something along the lines of: "Harry never saw Dumbledore so agitated before." Well, I guess Harry must be looking at the wrong Dumbledore, because Gambon looks like a headless chicken in this movie, so affected and exagerated, chewing his lines like there's no tomorrow.

EDIT 2: John Williams was greatly missed. Times like this, you see why the man truly is a genius.
