Business Casual Dresscode for Restaurants Update!!!

Effective July 1, 2007, Disney modified its Business Casual Dress Code at its premier restaurants to include t-shirts. The guidelines, which originally went into effect July 2005, still prohibit hats, swim suits, swim suit coveralls, tank tops, torn clothing or flip-flops. Suggested attire includes dress shorts, pants, jean pants, collared shirts, blouses, sweaters. Restaurants now requiring Business Casual dress include: Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge), California Grill (Contemporary), Citricos and Narcoossee's (Grand Floridian), Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge), Flying Fish (Boardwalk), and Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club).

In addition, holidays at Disney's Hollywood Studios will have a special sparkle this year as the park hosts the Harlem Gospel Choir Nov. 30-Dec. 25, 2007

Just for fun! Log into your account at http://www.waltdisneyworld.com When you enter the site, go to My Disney Vacation Home. Click on Back Stage Pass and there is a hide the scenes video of what Cinderella's Castle will look like during December. All I can say is, breathless.

I might just bring those Christmas window clingers to decorate our room. But DH and I will be leaving on 12/19 so we won't be brining our Christmas tree or anything.

I'm sure our Christmas Elf, Crispen, will be joining us again this year. He went to Florida last year and did the decorating himself!

He got into quite a bit of trouble while we were there too

Austin did not appreciate his shaved and nicked bear and Granddaddy didn't appreciate that he used his electric razer to do it

I didn't get a picture of it but he also found a small Christmas tree in the closet (we rented a house) and decorated it with everyone's underwear! :ROFLOL:

Greetings!

I'm new to this site so I'm sure you'll all be wondering who the heck I am. I'm Kelly and I have a Disney Obsession.

My family will be making our 5th trip to WDW Nov.30 - Dec.9. Our 4 previous trips have been in January/February staying at Pop Century. Trip #5 is special, our first time seeing the world decked out for the holidays (even for *me* who grew up in the Orlando area & visited MK & Epcot lots as a kid). Also, we are marking this landmark trip with my own little dream-come-true: a MK view room in the Contemporary tower. Woo Hoo!!! :sohappy:

Currently our itinerary will be:

11/30 - Biergarten, 7:45p
12/1 - Whispering Canyon,2:30p & *hopefully* early b'fast at Tusker House if they'd start taking the dang rezzies!!!
12/2 - Segway Tour, 8:30a & 50's Prime Time, 11:00a
12/3 - Crystal Palace, 8:10a & Ohana's, 6:45p
12/4 - Chef Mickey's, 8:00a & 5:30p ((may try to change reservation to Liberty Tree for dinner)) MVMCP night!!!
12/5 - Rainforest Cafe, 1:00p but will be trying to get the Yak & Yeti for this date in the afternoon if possible
12/6 - Sci-Fi Dine-In, 3:00p
12/7 - Ohana's, 8:30a & LeCellier Candlelight Processional Dinner Package w/dining at 3:45p & show at 6:45p
12/8 - 1900 Park Fare, 10:00a
12/9 - Chef Mickey's, 8:30a

I'm so jazzed!!! Maybe the thing to do is to set a designated spot in each park with a designated time or two that would be the wdwmagic spot for each day in December. Like at the MK make the spot under the Liberty Tree, at Epcot make it the entrance to the Wonders of Life pavillion, and create spots for MGM & AK. Then set designated times twice a day, say 10:00a and 4:00p where anyone relatively close to the spots can pop by and make their wdwmagic presence known. That way we'd be sure to bump into someone. You never know, we could make friends with other families as completely nutty about WDW as we are. :D

Hugs!

Kelly

Also, I've only ever taken my family to WDW in January/February. What can I expect attendance & crowds to be like for the 1st week of December in comparison?

The last couple years we ran into dance/cheer competitors who were at WDW for the competitions. Even my son who was 9 at the time got into rolling his eyes and wondering what was wrong with those bunches of giddy teenage girls. LOL! :p

Thanks muchly!

We are planning on having a "Gift from Mickey" waiting for my daughter when we arrive. I have both the Disney Florist and the Personal Disney Shopper bookmarked for this. Has anyone used either one? It seems like the Florist may be cheaper, but the Shopper has better stuff...anyone care to share their experiences with this?

Also, the Bibbity-Bobbity Boutiques say ages 3 and up. My DD will be just 2 months shy of three. Do you think she can participate or are they super strict on the age limit?

Thanks!

I've never seen birth certificate checks at WDW. I think if you don't call attention to your daughter's age it will be fine. I've fudged ages at meals some because my oldest son prefers the kids menu. I've never been dinged and that's when it really counts because of the $$. Besides, it's to Disney's advantage to let you do the BBB. Why turn away a paying guest???

I did use the florist last February to have flowers delivered to my cousin's wife for her anniversary on my cousin's behalf since he was in Iraq ((USMC - Ooh Rah!)). They honeymooned at WDW. :) I ordered the flowers months in advance with very specific requests. The flowers had to be just right. When I ordered I requested white lillies because that's her favorite. I was told there would be no problem and quoted a price. Also, I gave specific wording for the card because it was exactly verbatim what my cousin said in his email to me. I had the CM read back the words to me 3 times to make sure it was right. All was set.

Two days before flower-day I got a call on my cell phone from the florist telling me that the price quoted was wrong, that I would be charged by the stem. The recipient was standing right next to me at that moment so I didn't even ask how much it was. I just told them politely that I didn't care, make it happen, and quickly hung up. I was sorta aggravated, though. I thought that was mighty convenient. I could have ordered from a different florist at a bettter price had I known.

Flower-day came and they were delivered to our rooms as planned for the anniversary day. She was so surprised and cried a lot. I noted that the flowers were not very good quality. Some had a lot of wilted, brown areas in the petals. The card did NOT have my cousins message on it. It just said something generic like "Happy Anniversary. I love you."

I don't even remember what the price came out to be. It seems like it was more than twice what I was originally quoted. The quality wasn't worth the money. I can't say it wasn't "worth it" because the lack of attention to detail didn't change the fact that she felt loved and thought of on a difficult day. I don't regret it and would do it again.

Ok, so I need my Disney fix today. Had a root canal yesterday. On the bright side, we have the best dentist ever. He actually called the house from his cell phone at 9 pm to see how I was doing!

Just thought of something else from our December trip last year. We bought an ornament from each of the countries in the World Showcase. The tabletop tree we took was a $14.99 fiber-optic one from Walgreens. It made a nice night light in the room and was easy to pack. (We drive down) Anyway, when we got home, the kids decorated the small tree with all of the international ornaments. It was pretty cool.

New to the Forum WDW dates 12/15-23

Hi, new to the forum. I am taking my daughter on a surprise trip to WDW 12/15 until 12/23 and staying POFQ. It will be a mother/daughter vacation. I am very excited! It is a special trip from Santa. I am getting a little worried that it may begin to get crowded because it is so close to Christmas. Any advice? Thanks!!!

First of all, welcome to the boards! It does begin to get more crowded the closer it gets to Christmas, but if you keep that in mind, you'll be fine. It would seem to me that the beginning part of your trip shouldn't be too bad. I would think you may see a rise in attendance once the 21st hits. By then, most schools will be out! I suggest getting MVMCP tickets for early in your stay. It's lots of fun and the farther from Christmas, the less crowded! What a great surprise, you and your daughter will have a blast!!

Thank you!! Most of our park visits are early in the week. I had the crowds in mind. The last offical park visit is scheduled for 12/20 at MGM. The rest of the week is time I left for impromptu fun, so we will have the option to back and see anything a second time. We are going to MVMCP on 12/18. I did the WDW College Prog years ago, so you can say I am a wee bit excited. Probably more than my daughter will be! I was surprised how affordable WDW is for two people. She will be 5 when we go, as long as my ex-DH doesn't ruin it! He revealed to me that his parents wanted to take a trip to WDW Thanksgiving. Some times you have to choose your battles. I have put waaay to much planning and saving into this trip to make it special for my little one. Santa is visting each night we are there and leaving a small Disney surprise and a card revealing his special plans for the day and little reminders to mind your mommy.

Thanks for the reassurance!

Applying Discounts

I thought of another question...I booked my trip through WDW, if there are discounts or promos offered, can I call have them applied to my trip. I can't seem to find any yet, i.e. free dining. I will have my trip paid for in September, but I do not go until December. I struggled with finding discount codes to save some money in advance, however I was afraid that my resort of choice, POFQ, would get booked. I do call frequently to see if any are available, but I always get rejected. : (

If any one has had this experience, please let me know how I can apply the offers and any special deals after booking the trip. Thanks!!

They will start releasing discount codes normally around near the end of July to the middle of August. They normally have discounts for Value and Moderate resorts. It's best to book your reservation in advanced (even months before the discount rates are leased), because there's becoming fewer chances of getting your reservations. So book your resevations months in advance (before they release the discount codes), so by the time they're released you can call Disney and have the code applied. You will get your money back on your Disney account (at the resort). Book your reservations now for the room! There is still a chance you can get the reservation you want ASAP, since December isn't a "low peak season" anymore.

If you want some assistance planning your trip (not sure how much you've planned into it), but if you like, you can PM me and I can send you a link that will help you plan your trip. Though you'll have to wait most likely around the end of November in order for the dates to be released for the time that you'll be attending the parks.

Oh...and I must say welcome to the boards, and I'll be seeing you there on MVMCP on the 18th!

Okay, first of all--have you made any ADRs? If not, I would suggest picking out the restaurants that you want to go to and try calling now to see if they have any availability. If not, than I would suggest calling on the exact 45 day mark to try making ADRs again. The reason is because most people will be calling in around this time to cancel their plans or change their reservations. That means more availability for you!!! I'm not sure what your budget is, but I would try to make at least one breakfast reservations for your vacation. I'm not sure how old is your daughter and what she's into, but maybe a BBB or CRT breakfast reservation.

As long as arrive at the parks before opening, use FP, FP, FP throughout the trip--take a break by 12pm and arrive at the parks by 5pm--you should be okay.

Hey santa's surpriz, I see you are from Ohio. What part? You can see we're in Cincinnati, but went to college in Columbus. Wow, Lori, you are full of awesome advice tonight. When we plan our "Grizzwold family road trip" to DL in a few years (once the kids are a little older), I'll have to call you for help!! I was actually going to state what Lori already explained. Last August, I think, iscount codes came out and we saved several hundred dollars. I always check the boards here regularly, because someone usually poss the discount codes fairly quickly. Does anyone know of any other sites that put them up faster??

Oh, by the way, I love the Santa surprise idea! Last year, my 6 year old lost a tooth during our visit. We forgot to put it under her pillow. Somehow, Tinkerbell helped the tooth fairy find where we had placed the tooth for safekeeping and replaced it with currency!! DD was amazed!!
