I just figured I'd do this before anybody else does.

Post your thoughts about this years All-Star Game here.

I'll start:

I'm bummed Pedro Martinez declined to be on the NL team. Then again, he says he's just getting ready for the second half, which means more.

I find it amazing how the Phillies jumped from one to three All-Stars in a matter of pure luck (for them). Congrats, Jimmy Rollins and Billy Wagner, welcome to the NL team.

Hey! J Roll has had a good year! I'm happy for him! (not just luck!)
But I thought our Chase Utley deserved to go more than J Roll and Billy Wagner. Billy had a better year last year.........but who cares.
YAY PHILS!

I can't wait for the homerun hitting contast with my favorite player, Bobby Abreu! :sohappy:

Go American League!

Too bad Giambi Never made it :( He did good later in the year.

But my hometown hero Joe Nathan made it! (He's from my mother's town)

Giambi does not deserve to go either does K.Rogers from the Rangers.
Scott Rolen is a good 3rd baseman but has barely been playing this season, the Astros' M.Ensberg and A. Ramirez from the Cubs have both been team leaders the whole season. I think it's a little poor on Pedro's decision not to play plus he could be a big help for the National league if needed for a couple outs.

Pedro won't do anything that doesn't benefit Pedro.

He's not really a "team" player...but he is a GOOD player.

Pedro didn't go because he's pitching this Sunday, and with only one day of rest, he wouldn't be giving the NL his best stuff. Besides, he needs to rest up for the second half. As much as I love the ASG, the second half is where the Mets need him. If he can pitch beautifully, and Mientkewitz (not sure if the spelling is right) can get off the DL, the Mets could look at third place at least, and a remote chance at the NL Wild Card.

Pedro's got his head and heart in the right place.

manny, nixon, ortiz vs. giambi

I so wish manny would do the home run derby just once and show every one else his raw strength and I agree 100% with whoever said nixon should have made the team at least a reserve i think guerrerro deserved the starting spot
and yeah it basically is sox vs. NL another one giambi or Ortiz which one would you want? ORTIZ 21 HR. 73 RBI GIAMBI 9 HR. NOT EVEN IN THE TOP 100 IN THE LEAGUE IN RBI

I never said I wanted him on the team, but He did really good later in the year. (Now)
I would rather have Ortiz, he is better. But the Bosox are not better than the Yankees :)

26 TIMES!!

i welcome giambi to the team if i think he can help the A.L ( red sox) win home field advantage but i seriously think that the team the A.L has on the field is the best in their respective positions

I'm going to watch the ASG this season because I always do, but I'm not really excited for it. With the exception of Brian Roberts and Danys Baez, there isnt anyone who I'm particularly fond of.

And I still dont get how some players who really should be on the team aren't.

Red Sox? No.

Yankees? I doubt it.

White Sox or Angels? I think the Sox may finally break the Curse.

ON TOPIC!!

It was great to see Scott Podsednik get in on fan voting. I hope Mark Buehrle gets to start for the A.L.

As a side note, I have been a diehard White Sox fan all my life, and I would really, really, really like to see them win the World Series. I just went through a fabulous but ultimately heartbreaking basketball season with the Fighting Illini ... my blood pressure can't take another near miss.

Hey, probably a long shot, but does anyone have tickets for the ASG? It would be cool to see if someone could give us an eyewitness account.
