AKA: BALD-LEG AND BURNT-KNEE GO TO WALT DISNEY WORLD!
Ok, so it has been a couple of weeks since my trip to the World, settled in with my fiance's family up in SC, so it's time to start the Trip Report!
WHO:
ME- Emma (AKA Burnt-Knee). Musical Theatre Nerd. Uni Student. Lover of Disney Princesses (Especially Snow White!) and Winnie The Pooh.
My Fiance- Shane (AKA Bald-Leg). Harry Potter nerd. Soon-to-be Uni Student. Lover of Jack Sparrow, The Lion King, Peter Pan and all things Pixar.
Shane and I have been involved in a long distance relationship for almost two years now. I am British and he is American. We are engaged and hope be married within the next two years. This trip to Disney marked our first vacation together, the first week of my six week visit to the States. I am very much the Disney fanatic of the outfit, my favourite vacation was Disney World at aged 12 and the movies were my childhood. Shane, not so much, he had been to Disney before, but had never seen fireworks or even been to Epcot! The boy needed some educating and it was up to me to do it!
WHEN: 21st-28th May 2013. I would say that crowds were fairly moderate, probably slightly better then expected given all the events that were going on and Memorial Day Weekend.
WHERE: Best Western Lake Buena Vista Resort. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying at Disney on a budget. The rooms are lovely, any problems we had were solved very efficiently. The best perk of this hotel is definitely the buses. They run two buses every half an hour. One route covers Epcot and Hollywood Studios, the other Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Granted, they are not as frequent as Disney Resort buses, but we never waited more than 10-15 minutes for a bus, except for one occassion.
Now let's see what we got up to!
(I have some pictures from this day but they are on my English cell phone so i can't get them online until I get home.)
My day started at 5:30am, today was the day! I got ready, packed the final things in my luggage, and said goodbye to my kitty for the next six weeks. Around 7:15, I left for the airport with my parents, and made it around 8am. Checked in, and then sat down for a last full english with my parents. Then, it was time for the big goodbye, my parents. I am an only child, and very close to my parents, and this was my first time flying alone, the furthest I have traveled alone and the longest time I have been away from home. So it was really hard to say goodbye.
I made it through security, to find out my flight had been delayed an hour, great. So I browsed the duty free shops, picked up some chewy sweets to help with the ear pain that take off and landing cause, settle in and text Shane, who was driving down from South Carolina. he was making good progress, and finally the time came around to board. As it turned out, I got the bulkhead seat, giving me a good amount of legroom.
We took off just before 1pm, and so began what felt like the longest 8 1/2 hours of my life. XD We landed at MCO around 4:25pm, in the rain. Good old Florida weather. I got through immigration with a lovely lady officer to remarked I told how long I was here for, "Girl, you must have something special here!" Too right I do, lady. XD
I hopped aboard the non-Disney monorail and set about finding my fiance. Eventually I got to him, turns out he had arrived about four hours before me. That boy is fast. I was so excited to see him again, especially knowing I had so much time with him this trip. He had already checked into our room so we drove to the hotel, stopping off at Walgreens to pick up a couple more essentials. I loved our room as soon as I saw it. Two queen beds, big TV, beautiful view of Hotel Plaza. I was finally in Florida!!
We had intended to go to Downtown Disney this evening, but we were both so exhausted from the traveling we decided to eat at the Pizza Hut Express Station (the chicken alfredo pasta is to die for!) and then turn in. The fun would really start in the morning!
