The new park commercials

I don't really have any particular problems with this commercial other than opening with "a world of... Mickey Mouse!" followed by "Princesses" because like, those are undeniably the two things they absolutely do not have to emphasize in marketing and doing stuff like this makes people who have never been assume Disney Parks are nothing but Mickey and Princesses. I mean I would hope those people would keep watching but after Mickey and Princesses they'd probably tune it out.

Uh but yeah, other than that, it's fine.

Does anyone else think that they just gave up on how they promote their parks Anymore?

While the landscape shots look good..The rest is just...Meh, isn't their something EPIC down the road opening in a few months..Even without an apostrophe for World's in the title card just looks bad..

I actually think that's a solid ad, but if it didn't hit for you than it's clearly not reaching everyone. With that in mind, I do think Disney's marketing department gets way too much credit and is generally quite poor.

I honestly think AI is at a point where it could cobble together a more imaginative commercial these days.

Disney might as well try that. At least once... just so we can rip it apart in the comments. lol But really, Disney commercials have been treading on park nostalgia for far too long. Sadly, it's all they have when the newer attraction offerings aren't worth promoting. Haven't seen a creative ad campaign for a while. The duckling one was tops.

The idea is solid but the commercial is bogged down with too much narration and dialogue. Maybe strip the main VO or have the scenes narrated by each kid? Overall I think less talking with more world building would make for a much better commercial. Maybe it's just too soon? Revisit the concept when the other lands are built (and rebuilt)

They haven’t shrunk. They’ve left because it’s clear people who love Disney as it is today are ridiculed here.

And there’s no reason for it. People should be able to state their opinions without being labeled as “dusters,” “stupid,” etc. What’s the harm in just discussing without the labels?
So you and Tig are the “true believers”?

All the other disciples are still out there…they just aren’t here because some mean people are saying lighting lane and “galaxys edge” are a joke?

…you may be right I suppose

Bad press and attendance drop be damned

I agree they shouldn't be labeled for their opinions. IMO it's almost as bad coming from the other side too.

Look at the threads for the new attractions coming. The older fans have been upset that more nostalgic attractions are being removed. Instead of understanding why they feel that way, you get snide comments that those attractions are junk, nobody rides them, "I can't believe they still have guns on the island"

All I want to say is that WDW still have a way to go before coming close to the DLP commercial from 2018. 🥰

Oh, that one is really, really good!

I have ammo ready for anyone who says modern WDW ads are good. Don’t make me post a link to it. You won’t like me if I have to post a link.

I also find it uproaringly hilarious when people who have been around the site for 4-6 years talk about “the site has become so negative” like they are experts in site history. Some people around here have seen basically the whole she-bang. This is nothing. But the main difference between then and now is, there was hope back then. Hope that the CEO would see the error of his ways. Hope that the Parks head(s) would check in with WDI and listen to some of the veterans and do some amazing things. DL’s 50th was a shimmering example of what they could all still do when allowed. It’s been a mostly slow decline since then. Not entirely without some specks of sparkle, but it’s been mostly 2 decades of dull.

What *reasonable* things do y'all believe should be done to 'restore the magic' and get us on the right track? Emphasis on reasonable. They aren't going to bring back Splash or destroy the dreaded planter and put a fountain in.

Honestly? I don't know that there is anything they could do to reverse course at this point ~ it's too far gone...which makes me incredibly sad to say.

Go back to what the Disney parks unique. Keeping each park as their own theme. Focus on long dark rides with lots of AAs. Less focus on thrills, keep the coaster projects to the parks that do them well. End the nickel and diming at every turn.

I know I’m personally excited to be there in a few days and experience the magic of the fast pass lightning lane genie multi virtual que express pass!!

Also DVC called and want me to buy more points, this time at the new tower. They offered me a small “trinket” that they said has a $18 retail value for attending the hour long event.

That’s a great deal since my trip is only costing $1.48 per minute.

In my many years of experience, “go back” almost never happens. The commercial focuses on what they offer now.
