"The New Fantasyland" Thread Summary

Actually, I don't think you know much.

Disney's poor quarterly results were ANNOUNCED yesterday (as required by SEC rules). But the company has known internally the poor economic situation for months. It not like things suddenly got bad last week, and all projects approved last month were abruptly cancelled.

I hope to god you're right, but what I heard was that the results were bad enough to put the skidds on a lot of plans...

Actually it is a combination of both hand drawn and cgi. Rapunzel is something entirely new.

The lush feel of the scene is really what I hope the new FL captures. I can't tell you how amazing that art is. Whoever did that has certainly spent some time in the Alps I think. Beautiful.

Well from what I gather it is not exactly hand-drawn, but made to look like it is, as opposed to the normal CG film, but whatever - same sort of result.
If the talk is correct, after Princess and the Frog is finished the traditional animators are moving onto other projects and not Rapunzel.

That is true because Rapunzel is already in production. 2D still will be around but it will rely more and more on computers to bring the art to life. It's was inevitable that the two disciplines would merge I think. The results should be years of amazing visuals. Why else would John Lasseter want to bring back Winnie the Pooh? My guess is this new technology is perfect for presenting the images of that story in a totally new way.

Well this thread was rather a fun read....got my gears working on wanting a Wonderland now....and wishing in addition that it will include an outdoor Queen of Hearts maze like at Paris DL....MK will always be my favorite park...more thrill rides on that side would be awesome....new restaurant would be fun....Mr. Toad moving back into his former abode....darn one can dream...All of my family are not big Pooh fans and my children were disappointed when the playful spot opened....they are a bit old for that sort of thing and I reminded it wasn't for them.....they missed out on 20K and still envision that being over there....

I know they are ripping out skyway in TL...like the theming of the chalet in Fantasyland but wonder if it could be reused into something...

Can't wait to see what actually transpires....:king:.

I remember on my Key's to the Kingdom tour in fall '07 someone in the group asked what are they building over there, point to BLT, and our tour guide said that huge building doesn't exist, its just in your imagination as it has yet to be announced, we all got a good laugh from that one.

I thought the whole "ignore that tower next to the Contemporary" issue was not Disney choosing not to announce it, but rather because of laws governing time share sales. I think they were prohibited by law from acknowledge it's existance until they were ready to begin sales.

So that's a completely different issue than beginning FL construction prior to an announcement.
