Trip Report The Never-Ending Summer Of Disney *COMPLETED*

Seriously?!!

Can you believe it??

BC7AE996-5BB5-4770-9C10-F20CE1197633.jpeg

This is jaw-dropping news!!

If only.

Two things in life give me the blues ~ the end of summer and the end of a Disney vacation. A never-ending summer of Disney would be a dream come true! But I am certainly happy to “settle” for a WDW vacay in June....in July....and in August. 😊And rather than write three separate trip reports (and annoy @amjt660 when my *COMPLETED* report really isn’t 😉) I decided to take @Rista1313 ’s suggestion and post an ongoing travelogue, à la @blgauger style.

So let’s get started!

Vacation #1
June 16-24, 2018
Tuvalu, Woody and Em get pampered at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

Was there rain? Any snarky Cast Members? Ridiculous guest behavior? A Magic meet-up? How many times did we watch Happily Ever After?

You’ll have to follow along to find out.

Sunday, June 17 ~ Father’s Day

Isn’t it the best feeling to awaken in Walt Disney World on the morning of your first full day? So much anticipation! So many adventures ahead!

Oh why were my roommates still asleep? Probably because it was only 5:45 am. I am the early bird in the family. Good thing I really don’t mind having some time to myself in the quiet of dawn. 😊

Within the hour Woody and Em got up. And before going to breakfast we stepped out on the balcony to take in the views.

The breakfast spread was quite extensive.

I chuckled when I saw that Hard-Boiled “Hen” eggs were still featured. Is the “hen” clarification really necessary? Would anyone mistake these eggs for ostrich or quail eggs?

There were three or four varieties of cold cereal in addition to oatmeal (with a toppings bar!)

Cut-up fruit salad (not pictured) was also available.

The only pastry change from December was the replacement of Double Chocolate Chip muffins with plain Chocolate Chip muffins.

Methinks grandma forgot she was not in her own home for breakfast. :cautious:

We returned to our room to gather bags and sunglasses before making our way toward the main elevator. As we got closer we noticed a burnt, smoky odor.....and then we saw smoke and firemen!

Did someone in a DVC unit use an illegal hot plate? Though I was dying to ask what happened, I did not want to mortify my husband or daughter. All I know is that there was no evacuation and the Lodge did not burn down (phew!)

We found a bench(!) at the bus stop.

Em sat down next to me. I glanced at our feet and noticed we had identical pedicures. NOT PLANNED, I PROMISE!

Of all the bag checks, I hate Epcot the most. Sooooo many people crammed into a tight area and the lines barely move....WOULD IT REALLY COST THAT MUCH TO STAFF TWO GUARDS PER TABLE INSTEAD OF ONE??!

I was already annoyed that the bus had dropped us off in the charter bus lot, which is the furthest area from the front gate. And now Em and I were stuck in a 20 minute (yes I timed it) security line. (Even Woody had to wait over 10 minutes for “no bags” screening.)

As Em and I waited we could not help but overhear the panicked family of adults behind us.

“Why do we have to wait in line? We’ve got a breakfast reservation.” (Like no one else in this security line has a breakfast ADR.)
“We’re gonna get charged $10 person for being late! That’s 60 bucks!” (Not true. You only get charged for being a no-show.)
“Go tell the guard we have reservations. I’m sure he’ll let us through.” (Because of your snowflake status?)
“Here, give me all the bags. I’ll take them up.”

And sure enough, the guy with all their bags bypassed everyone in front of him saying “Excuse me, late for breakfast.” He must have gotten through because there was no sign of him or his family when Em and I reached the table. 😡

Even the Passholder entrance had a long line.

Okay Tuvalu, shake off the bad mood. We’re at Woody’s favorite park and it’s Father’s Day.

Once inside I finally relaxed and we headed for our first Fastpass. We were surprised to find the reservoirs drained of water.

RIP Circle of Life.

We rode the escalator to the lower level. As we tapped our bands to enter Soarin’, a man behind us asked the Cast Member, “Where do you get Fastpasses for this?”

For the first time ever, we walked the entire queue....almost straight to the end of Concourse C....without having to stop.

Woohoo I'm in! Wow that door situation was weird! At first I thought how convenient, but unfortunately it wasn't :banghead:
Loved the tinkphoto and the desserts looked Jimmy!
Once my and Woody’s bands were recoded we could use either our phone or bands to unlock the door.
Is “Jimmy” slang for yummy?

You can also get POG juice in Cabanas onboard Disney’s Fantasy And Dream!! It’s self-serve, giving you a heady sense of power to have that much control over your POG juice ...
Well darn, I will never get to experience that....no cruisin’ for me....but if I ever stay Poly Club Level again I will have access to all-I-can-drink POG juice! :hungry:

That’s hilarious! If anything , they should be tagged as “chicken eggs”, as even an ostrich or quail egg would still come from a hen! Last I checked, roosters weren’t laying eggs! Lol!

The breakfast spread was quite extensive.

Just being able to walk from your room, down the hall to the lounge for breakfast, was my main reason for staying on that level (some years ago when I stayed at WL). With the refurb years later, I'm not sure if they offer the same amount of seating all around the open top floor (looks like they've cut the space down somewhat). Anyway, not having to go someplace and wait in line for breakfast was such a treat!

I actually feel bad for newer guests to the parks, because they really may not know just how much "extra" time is needed, just to get in there for a breakfast reservation. They may have thought they had given it enough time, when they left their hotel room. The rest of us all know the ropes, but maybe not all guests.

I’m late! Sorry - I haven’t been on here much lately but I was met with a BTMRR photo - number 9 which made me happy! Do you actually take the number out with you in the morning or are you carrying paper and pens with you? I feel a fair few more coming and still 128 days until I get home to ride again so I’ll live through your photos knowing others are having fun while I can’t :(

I am right there with you. I usually get up around 5 or 6 am at home (earlier if I have a puppy in for potty training) and I am usually up at 6 am when we are in WDW. That cup of coffee on the balcony overlooking the resort is always a great way to start the day. And plus I get a few bonus points if I bring a few morning pastries back and have coffee ready for C before she gets up.

Outside the entrance to the food area was the menu for tonight’s offerings.

(Note the “Lavosh” and “Grisinni”.....fancy names for crisp bread wafers & breadsticks....that Woody ended up calling “Laverne” and “Shirley” for the duration of our stay. :hilarious:)

“Laverne” is on the far left. Shepherd’s pie is in the dish. This was AMAZING!! I believe it contained bison rather than ground beef. The Soup of the Day was Broccoli Cheese and when Em learned that she scooped herself a hearty bowl. The chef stopped by our table and we raved about the food. She encouraged us to take as much as we wanted so we did!

For me, unlimited beer on tap is almost as dangerous as unlimited soft-serve on tap.
