Ok i saw the windows live link and i would say that that is the island that the old wave machine was attached to since it is by the Poly so maybe it was an old building that some machinery was in?

i just looked again wrong island

How come the wave machine doesn't run anymore? Was there a problem with it? When did that stop? Sorry lots of questions but I wasn't aware of it!

You're right!

From AllEarsNet:

When the resort opened in 1971, a wave-making machine created artificial waves that crashed onto the beach. Although it added to the authentic South Seas feel of the resort, it also created rapid beach erosion. Operation of the wave machine ceased shortly afterwards, but the machine itself is still located just under the waters off the Polynesian beach.

And according to "Widen Your World," an island just off Poly is called Beachcomber Isle. (http://home.cfl.rr.com/omniluxe/poly.htm)

and also whille we're on the subject of the seven seas lagoon was Disney ever going to use the land next to the Contemporary for a resort or something the land across from Discovery Island:confused:

If it works, you'll see the fireworks area.

If you look at the upper section of the smaller island (closer to the Polynesian), you'll see what's left of the old wave machine (that created waves on the Polynesian beach).

[I should add the disclaimer: I have heard from no official source that those are the fireworks launchers, but it is conjecture based on where the mortar shots came from in past shows]

That's a great view! Good work ThumpersThought.

It was stopped sometime in the 70s i thought due to erosion of the beach at the Poly.

I think it stated in the book since the world began that the wave machine did not even make it to opening day due to the beach erosion but will need to go back to verify.

Ok just to give some facts.

The wave machine was on Beachcombers Isle (which is not the island with the buildings on it but the smaller one close to the Polynesian. The wave machine worked for about a week until it was shut down because of the erosion of the beach. The mechanism stayed in the lagoon for a while but has since been removed. What you see on the small island is not what is left of the wave machine because it is facing the Wedding Pavilion and not the Polynesian as the wave machine did. The barrier at the MK is not because of the waves from the machine but because of waves from boat traffic.

The buildings on the other island are for the fireworks that are launched on special holidays like 4th of July. They shoot from the MK and the islands in the lagoon.

I see it now. There is along the western shore of the lake a small island with a building. If you start at the Grand Floridian and follow it south along the monorail and you pass a tennis court and a red roof building. Just south of that building is a parking lot. There is an oval area like a circle driveway which has on the south a long white building with a small extention on the north end. There is a path out over the bay to the building and there is a path way around the lake. North is a small sandy area.

The area I am looking at looks almost like a church and is just between Polynesian and Contemporary. Is that the spot?

http://www.intercot.com/resorts/disney/maps/images/grandfloridian.jpg

The white building described above is the Disney's Fairy Tails xxxxx Pavillion. To the north is the red building that is the Grand Floridian Spa and to the south is ? as it is hard to read the map.

Tell me that is what you are looking for.

as for the other islands it was stated they were the wave runner and fireworks.
