Trip Report The "My iCloud Takes Me Back to 2016" TR's

Hello All!!

So, here I am again with another TR. This is going to be a bit different from my past ones. Let me briefly explain:

As most of you probably know E, J, & I were supposed to be in Disney in March/April. Our mom had been battling cancer for the last 3 years & was not doing well when we were to be in Disney so we cancelled our trip. I was looking back in my iCloud and was surprised at how much I remembered from past trips so I've decided to do some mini TR's as far back as my iClould takes me. I also have quite a few PP pictures from the trips(back when they actually showed up in my account-I'm sure you remember me complaining about them not showing up recently). These will not be as detailed as my recent ones since no notes were taken. There are 8 trips over a span of 2 years. I'm looking forward to doing these as a distraction from the recent sad times in my life plus my mom was on a few of these trips so it will be nice remembering happy times with her. It's also neat looking back on things that aren't in the world anymore.

Primarily based on my pictures I was able to go back & piece together the who, what, when & where's for the most part. Lot's of different things happened during these trips:1st trips for some of my family, a runDisney race, room debacles, a 1st haircut, & leaving propertyo_O for the first time just to name a few. I hope everyone enjoys & welcome aboard!!

Side note: Not sure if you remember(or care for that matter:hilarious:) but I had mentioned in my last TR that there was a specific purpose for the March/April trip. Even though we didn't go I figured I would share it with you. We were planning on a spring trip but we picked our dates based on who was performing at the Epcot Flower & Garden Concert. We were to going to see none other than Rick Springfield!! Now, I am an 80's child but was never a fan of his music. I did kind of like him on General Hospital though. Anyhow, believe it or not R & one of my BIL's really like his music😲 I know, it's not too often you hear of many guys who know the words to "Jessie's Girl". Over the years I have been forced to attend a few of his shows & I must say I developed a liking for his music. Basically, the purpose of scheduling the trip when we did was to rub it in R & my BIL's face!! So there you have it!!

J talked me into asking the CM if I could get my picture taken holding the balloons. I have quite an embarrassing story about me & balloons. Keep in mind I don't even like balloons. Truth be told, I'm afraid of them. I always get nervous that they're going to pop.

Anyhow, a few years ago I had a 40th birthday party for R. It was at a hall above a club that we belong to. At the end of the night some of my nieces were helping carry things out to the cars. My niece, E, accidentally let some of the balloons go. Where did they go? Straight towards the nearest transformer:arghh: It literally shut down the power to the whole town. It's a small town but nonetheless..... They actually had to close the road b/c of all the utility trucks that were there.

A year later I turned 40. My brother was helping to carry things out to the cars. He sat the cake down on the hood of my car. He put the strings of the balloons under the cake box. The strings slid out & guess where the balloons ended up? Out went the power again.:jawdrop: Super embarrassing let me tell you.

So, when a friend of mine saw this picture on Facebook she commented that me with those balloons was probably not the best idea b/c I could end up shutting down the power to Disney World!!:hilarious:

I'm so glad I'm not the only one with my irrational fear of balloons popping! I'm ok being near them or even holding them, but once they start making *that* noise, or someone starts squeezing it, I get so uncomfortable. Having a 4 year old who loves balloons and can't stop playing with them is really great by the way :p

And I'm sure it was embarrassing, but the power story is absolutely hysterical to read about 😄

It's funny that you say J didn't like you. I have a niece Olivia who is very standoffish... I'm pretty sure she's an introvert, because she's much better when we are just one on one. But even at 8 years old I get "side" hugs. I thought as she got older it would change, but not so much. However, I have a 2nd chance, she has a baby sister due in July, so maybe I'll get the closeness I desire with that one. I was SO close with my aunts (and still am) so I really wanted our relationship to be the same.
I usually get the side hugs from my son, or very loose wide-armed hugs. It's not that he doesn't love me, but physical contact can be too much for him. Maybe your niece just doesn't like the contact...I'm sure she loves you.

Oh totally agree, she's just introverted. Grandma gets tons of hugs..... I don't think she doesn't love me, she just one that needs lots of time spend 1-1 with you before she gets really comfortable.

My oldest has Asperger's and on the rare occasion I get a hug I feel like I need to document it! He got a PlayStation 4 for Christmas a couple of years ago and was so excited that he tackle hugged me,thankfully I got it on video!

Aw, that must have been an amazing moment! My son loves sheep, and we take him to adopt a lamb every spring at the local pasture. The look of pure joy on his face is the whole reason we do it. He may not be much for hugs and kisses, but he shows his feelings in other ways, and he'll say I'm the best mom ever, just because I got him some little thing, like a night light to help him sleep. It would be great to get the hugs, but I'll take what I can get, even if that's just a smile.

I'm not ok even being near them!! The worst is when I have to pick them up for a party. I have a fear of one popping while I'm driving & I could see me wrecking the car!! I know what you mean about kids playing with them. I get very anxious when I see that. I usually try to move to a different area!!

Your balloon stories had me laughing out loud. 😂
It was embarrassing the first time but when it happened the second time I was dumbfounded!! Neither time was I actually the one to let them go but since I was hosting the party for R the first time & the second time the party was for me somehow everyone blamed me!! Especially after the second time I was scared that they would somehow try to come after the club that I am a member at since both functions were held there.

Believe it or not the story actually gets more comical. At the time of both incidents my dad worked for the power company🤣😲
He worked Monday-Friday. The first incident happened at 11:30 on a Friday night. The second happened on a Sunday afternoon right after the end of a Steeler game(thank God--I would have been dead for sure if the whole town lost their power during a Steeler game!!).
When he went to work the Monday following each incident that of course was all the talk. Both happened on weekends so they had to call out crews that obviously were making more than straight time. He said one incident like that costs the company roughly $30,000.00😲
Needless to say he kept quiet & didn't let anyone know that he knew the culprit......
BTW, maybe J didnt like you but after buying him those cars I am sure you are his favorite!!!!
I think I rank up there!! He's good at coming to me for a treat when he knows what the answer is going to be from his mom so that could help too!!

Not to gross anyone out but while we stood in line for the bus a little boy got sick. Now, I am always amazed at how quick a CM is there to respond to an emergency or a spill etc. Not today--there was not one to be found. But now that I think of it I rarely notice CM's at the bus stops at the parks. Unfortunately, all that meant was that we had to see & smell it a bit longer. I did feel really bad for the boy though.

This is the after photo--once they put down whatever that stuff is to absorb the odor.

I was able to get a FP for FoP for today. E was not successful. Since J(dad) had not been on it I told him that he could use my FP. The TE was picking us up around 11:00 so E didn't want to rush there with J(son). I had to go since J(dad--but I'm sure you figured that out) was going to use my band for the FP.

Look who we ran into!!
IMG_1739.JPEG

Stopped for a quick PP picture.

Headed to Everest first to get a quick ride in.

IMG_1748.JPEG

J talked me into putting my hands up--that took a lot of courage for me to do!!
wdw2017338878962995_8137506561.jpg

We quickly headed to Dinosaur to get a ride in on that.
IMG_1749.JPEG

Something tells me the people in the row behind us probably had nightmares for quite some time after that ride.

Finally the FP window opened up!!
IMG_1752.JPEG

I just hung out & waited for J. He loved it!!
IMG_1755.JPEG

We left the park in a hurry so we could get back to POR in time. We made it with a few minutes to spare!!

Oh my gosh, I wasn't even thinking of driving with them! I always think they're going to get too hot from the sun and pop! And then I will get in an accident!! Thank you for making me feel more sane 😄

On a side, slightly Disney-related tangent....I don’t know if you’ve heard, but new at Star Lake (or whatever it’s called these days) is a Chef Art Smith stand with the fried chicken and Mac n cheese!

TRIP #8

WHEN:
January 14th-19th, 2018

WHERE & WHO: By now I'm sure you know the answer to both of these.....

SUNDAY, JANUARY 14TH 2018

We had an early afternoon flight & by mid-afternoon we had arrived!!
IMG_1912.JPEG

We stopped in Fulton's to look around.
IMG_1916.JPEG

As we were walking down the hallway by The River Roost I heard a familiar voice calling my name. It was my sister C!! She was there with her husband D & their daughters E & A!!
IMG_1917.JPEG

E knew they were going to be there but they kept it a surprise for me. They had came down a few days before us. I was quite shocked!!
IMG_1918.JPEG

IMG_1919.JPEG

IMG_1920.JPEG

J & A hung out in my room while I dropped some things off. Suitcase is still around--notice it in the background?
IMG_1923.JPEG

We decided to watch the movie that evening. It was Mulan. It was also raining so they moved it inside to The Riverside Mill. There were very few people to watch it. I can't think of what it's called but J & A both got those things they use at the beginning of a scene when a movie/show is being filmed. You can kind of see it in J's hands. Anyhow, the CM told them what to say to kick off the movie. They faced everyone & after their little spiel once they said "action" the movie started right away. It was really cute!! And they got to keep them so that was a neat souvenir!!
IMG_1925.JPEG

After Mulan we all headed back to our rooms.
