The Muppets and Disney

that filming being done at mgm a few months ago was for the direct to video movie 'kermit's swamp years' which tells the story of kermit the frog's adventures with his friends in the swamp when he's about 12- sort of post muppet babies, pre muppet movie.

It is a major possibility that Disney may buy Henson, remember, the family's out of the picture now. Henson is owned by EM.TV, and they may sell out to Disney. Disney has already started making offers. :) If I had $600, I'd buy! :)

Also, whatever happened to all of those other muppet shows that mgm had when they opened? I remember two. I think one was replaced by the little mermaid, but I can't remember on the other.

Yes indeed. There was only one other Muppet attraction apart from the Muppets 4D, and it was called HERE COME THE MUPPETS including real puppets on stage and situated right where The Voyage of The Little Mermaid is right now. I supposed they thought two attractions dedicated to the Muppets was too much.

Well, actually, your wrong. There was another show called "Muppets on Location." Read the Jim Hill writing posted earlier in this topic.

Muppets on Location was a meet and greet with Kermit and the Gang on New York Street.Does anyone remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show on the backlot.

'muppets on location' was a show before it became just a meet and greet. the only thing i remember about it was that it opened with the song 'hey, a movie' from the great muppet caper. oh, and kermit was on this big scaffolding thing running a movie camera. the set is partly still there, it is the wall that has a sort of plant shop painted on it right next to the hunchback stage show.

I know this is a little off topic, but the last time I went to Universal, in the kidzone section of the park they were playing the theme song from the muppet show. Did universal make any muppet movies?

Henson made two films :

The Dark Crystal and Labryinth both are on video and dvd.

I also liked the Storyteller series that was on NBC.

I sure do remember the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the back lot - I have some great pictures of my kids with them (must have been in 1991).

It's not strange. I remember listening to Universal tunes at MGM studios like ET or Back To the Future, which were totally out of place.
About the TMNT, I think they started appearing on NY Section around 1990, when they claimed to fame. I remember there war a little car/store that sold TNMT stuff like the toys, cool T-shirts and much more, which I went crazy for.
