The Muppets and Disney

Has anyone heard anything new about Disney acquiring the Jim Henson Company?? I had heard that the German company who owned it went bankrupt.

I always heard that the Muppets were supposed to be the signature characters at MGM - with their own area, Muppet Movie Ride, etc. - before Jim Henson died and Disney got greedy - trying to get Sesame Street from PBS as well.

I also read that Sesame Street is only going on for 1-2 more years. Would PBS still own the rights after it's all over??? I wonder if Disney would still try and obtain the rights.

In any case, I would LOVE to see the Muppets used more in MGM! With another ride or two.. and MORE characters walking the park!

I found out last week that the muppets were coming back to T.V. !!!!

I liked Muppets Tonight! They had "Tales from the Vet"! But...they started the series off with Prince...and I lost respect for the show from that point on..

ARE YOU KIDDING?

The Prince episode was in the second season - and by the way was the best episode in the entire series. Of course that could be because Prince is the ABSOLUTE MOST TALENTED ARTIST ALIVE !!! People that don't respect Prince know nothing about music. You don't have to like - him, but if you know about music you certainly have to respect him.

it's not natural for a guy to get his voice that high, and I don't have respect for people who change their name to get attention...

to get attention huh? more to do with legalities and CONtracts... but whatever. as far as getting his voice that high......well talent is talent - widest range of any modern rock musician - range compared to Pavorotti - but I guess you don't have respect for him either.

and that fact that he can sing high negates the fact that he has mastered over 45 instruments - 20 of which by age 12 and all self taught.

In the words of Sebastian "Geez mon....I'm surrounded by amateurs."

I love the Muppets. I have the timeslife DVD's and it is my almost 1 year old daughters very favorite. When the opening song starts she bounces up and down, it is great!!!!!

I would love for Disney to get the contract and see more muppets on T.V. I don't know if any of it will ever be as good as the old Jim Henson. He is surely missed!!!

Truthfully I would rather see Disney accuire MGM than Jim Henson productions. This way the get total right over the theme park and don't have to worry about any of the legalities with a new company.

It isn't really bidding it means that Disney is the company who will get the first offer for the company.

As you read on to around parts five and six.. you'll read about what could have been... i.e. the Muppet Movie Ride. Check it out.

I just figured out what those posters in the queue are for. They were probably going to be used in the rides queue but when it never happened they ended up in MuppetVisions queue. Too bad it sounds like ride would have been great.

I really hope Disney does acquire the Muppets for good this time because they would know what to do with them and how to use them right. Also they deserve a section of the Studios to the themselves and more attractions and with the possibility of the Great Movie Ride being redone I think they should make it into the Great Muppet Movie Ride and go through with all the original ideas with the now New York section of the park. They should also put the Muppet show back on the air.

The Muppets are wonderful - warm, witty and non-threatening to kids (while keeping the grown-ups in stitches, too!) I would LOVE to see more of the Muppets at MGM. I loved the Muppet Show.

I love the Muppets so much. They're my second favortie past time, behind Disney of course. i would love to see more of them in the park. I also would love to see them on TV again. Where did you hear about this show? When is it airing and on what station? As much as I love the Muppets though, I respect the fact that the puppeters don't want Disney to own it. Disney is very greedy and I'm ever so slightly afraid that without Henson around to keep an eye on things and give his imput that the Muppets would become just another venue for Disney to try and make money and they wouldn't be as great as they could be and have been in the past.
