The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

Finally rode the new Test Track. Twice. Single Rider line was a walk-on, so yay for that!

While I’m not a fan of the new narration, I will say this new version of Test Track is… um… not the worst ride in the world…

Loved the return of a window view on the pre-seatbelt-check upramp. The first scene is nicely done. The final room with the giant screen is, IMO, possibly the best ride moment in all of Epcot currently. The outdoor portion is still fun and ugly. The braking at the end is still unintentionally hilarious.

I found everything between the first and final indoor scenes forgettable, emotionless, repetitive and dull.

The ongoing remodeling problem, IMO, is that Test Track was originally designed to be one specific focused experience (a factory floor test track) and the two attempts to “reimagine” it while keeping the same layout, pacing, and semi-truck jump-scare have just diluted its purpose and made its messaging regarding the truck encounter… odd. Just my opinion.

On the plus side, the new exit path car showroom is stunning. It’s actually pleasant to walk through. 😃

How was the garage full of Epcot easter eggs and props plus the peppers ghost effects calling back both WOM and TT1.0 dull? I mean the forest set isn’t perfect but atleast they got ride of the cardboard trees and went for more realism. I feel like the truck encounter makes more sense now

Agreed, the first attraction in quite a while that truly feels like it belongs at Epcot

I think the design overlay mirror section goes on too long. Once was fine, three times was a yawn—especially because the designs, IMO, just aren’t very interesting. This is part of the problem with sticking with the original’s pacing and layout.

Again, it’s not bad… just something I’m very happy was a single-rider walk-on.

Here’s why the twisty road/truck encounter strikes me as weird on this version: Previously, it was a steering test with a jump scare (for no real logical reason, I guess—purely for entertainment). But now the A.I. —if I have this right— is taking us on a drive along this twisty road, leading to a near-miss with the semi, and the A.I. brushes it off with a flippant, “Relax, I got this.” Wait—what? In this scenario, didn’t the A.I. get us into that situation in the first place? What is the message here? What the heck is going on? 😄 And why are Disney park robot/A.I. characters so consistently glib and annoying? 😄

I don’t think Test Track 3.0 is bad, just… pretty with, for me, a forgettable midsection (which has never been great, IMO, in any version).

But I do love, love, love the future city room. It is, by far, the best finale for the dark ride portion Test Track has ever had. Even with the door open. I’d tell anyone the ride is worth experiencing for that scene.

Any Home Alone fans here? Went to the Little Nero’s Pop Up at Prince Street Pizza in Studio City on Saturday and it did not disappoint. Think it’s going on for a few more days. First time trying their super hyped square slices and they were very good. Got the spicy pepperoni and the vodka/ ricotta slices. Then of course had to get a Home Alone branded “Lovely Cheese pizza.” Standard NY style cheese pizza. Was better when I toasted the left overs up at home. Prices were fair too- especially the personal pizza at $5.95.. Really did look like the pizza from the movie. IYKYK

Merry Christmas, gang! 🎄🎅

I'm getting ready to decamp down to La Jolla for the Christmas week on into '26, and looking at doing a solo Disneyland day since the family couldn't care less about the place any more. Because I'm reasonably smart, I am looking at the weather those weeks and.... Yikes!

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day look to be a complete washout for all of SoCal, with up to 6 inches of rain forecast to fall over those two days in the LA metro area. Five inches of rain is forecast by the AI computers for the corner of Katella and Harbor in Anaheim on Christmas Eve and Day.

They're selling one-park tickets for $224 for those days. Can you imagine if you paid that much for a Disneyland ticket and it poured rain all day? On the plus side, Knott's Berry Farm will be closed entirely with that much rain, so those employees get a nice holiday at home. Things looking dry for the Rose Parade and game on the 1st however, so fingers crossed for Pasadena.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!
