Do I even want to know what this is?

I'm no prude, and I might have been known to pay a decent cover charge or a two-drink-minimum to get into a bar like this in the late 70's. But using a 21st century lens and sensibility towards this visual??? Nope. You couldn't pay me now.

Please tell me these folks were not on the Disney payroll, and that they just wandered in off Harbor Blvd. after pre-gaming in a Honda Civic parked behind the International House of Pancakes.

Its a scene from the classic Mel Brooks movie Space Balls with Chewie photo shopped over one of the characters played by John Candy (or in this case supposed to be a stand-in)

Oh, phew! I thought maybe TDA was charging a two-drink-minimum at Oga's Cantina for this vignette. I wouldn't put it past them, with their current standards.

Still, I like the idea of this quartet getting themselves ready in a Honda Civic behind the International House of Pancakes.

That's Showbiz!

My gosh, yes! It's just so early in the season to get this type of rain. We got a nice soaking here this afternoon, about half an inch, which for La Jolla is practically Biblical. Looking at a weather gauge a few streets over from my old place up in OC, they had 1.95 inches today. Over 2 inches all over Anaheim Hills, etc., etc.

Disneyland really got doused too. Landscaping loves a good natural rain, no matter how good the gardeners are at watering.

And over two feet of snow in the southern Sierras today! Have we mentioned it's only mid October?! ❄️⛷️
I’m sure much of tropical plants are appreciating the rain. I can remember smelling pothos vines are melting in the summer heat around Pirates and the Treehouse.
I believe we are in La Niña season. So another dry spell for the winter storms.

Yes, it's a "weak" La Nina, and La Nina used to mean a warm and dry winter for SoCal and all of the Southern states. But now, since the weather and climate seems so hard to predict even though people now pretend they can predict it, La Nina can mean anything. So can El Nino. Because the "experts" need to cover all their bases, now that we all have access to Google. Thus, you get statements like this...

Welcome to La Nina where anything can happen including inches of rain across SoCal.

Whereas, traditionally, for those of us who have lived west of the Rockies for many decades, a La Nina winter meant a wet Northwest and a dry Southwest. Until it suddenly doesn't mean that anymore in 2025. The traditional definition of La Nina was just memory holed, and now La Nina means an early, wet, cold winter for SoCal. And me drinking hot tea on a chilly, drizzly patio in mid October! Which is also what El Nino brings. And also what San Diego used to only be in January. Or something.

I can't keep up. 🤣

You forget I’ve lived in California for ~50 years so I’ve seen all different types of weather patterns including snow in places where it hardly ever snows during La Niña years.

Recently watched a FB video where he went through the park stacking LL’s. I’m wondering if anyone here actually does this? I guess if you are trying to maximize attractions it makes sense as you keep modifying your return times for later in the afternoon when waits get longer while you do non LL rides in the morning through early afternoon. By the time you get to 2pm you should have 3-4 LLs ready to go assuming you got to the park in the early morning. Otherwise stacking wouldn’t make sense to begin with.

I don’t really buy LL’s unless I’m going with family/ friends from out of town who don’t go often. Doesn’t really makes sense to do with a group like that especially if that group doesn’t have any kids in it. For example I’m taking some cousins (adults) from Italy to DL next month. I can’t imagine spending a morning doing Fanstasyland stuff when they can be riding the likes of Indy, Space Mountain, POTC or ROTR. I think after the second FL dark ride or flat ride they might be wondering what’s going on. Haha. Kind of a high risk game when you only have one day at the park. You never know when a ride goes down. Would really suck to have your fam/ friend from another state/country miss out on Indy, Space Mountain or ROTR because you spent the morning stacking and riding Finding Nemo or Pinocchios Daring Journey instead. Now don’t get me wrong I do like to sneak some of those types of attractions into the day between the headliners so people can try all the different flavors of DL but they aren’t prioritized.

I haven’t bought LL from my past recent three visits. I always arrive around 1-2 PM. Seems like a waste to spend now especially if I wait after 3 PM. I’m learning to enjoy to just soak in the ambiance and always remind myself I have countless of visits to go with Inspire.

Yeah I’d imagine most of us here who are MK’s only purchase LL’s on special occasions. I’m wondering what the various tactics on those special occasions might be. Obviously much of that depends on the demo of the group and priorities of that group.

I stack LL's when I go. I always get my first one when I enter the park, so at about 7:30am and then I keep modifying the time until I get it to the actual time I want to use it. I'll pick my first LL for something that gets busy later or for a LL that goes quickly. So that is usually Indy or even Space. Indy is a good one because if it doesn't open right away then I get a "free one" or as I like to call them an anytime lightning lane. I sometimes gamble when I see an attraction is down and try to grab a lightning lane that might change into an anytime one, sometimes the gamble pays off. I like to stack those for later in the evening and often use those to loop Big Thunder.

I spend the first couple hours at the park riding what I can without lightning lanes. I usually get all of Fantasyland (except Peter Pan, that's an end of the night ride) and Toontown down in almost the first hour and then hit up HM, Pirates and either Thunder or Jungle in the second. I also usually splurge once per trip on a Rise lightning lane. I'm from out of the area and finding stacking an easy way to make sure I hit the headliners at the times I want and don't spend much time doing it. That's just my strategy, everyone has their own way.

Oooh I like that early Indy LL strategy. If only I could only get to the park that early. I’d have to wake up at 5/5:30am to make that happen. I have to imagine it’s be crashing hardcore at some point after lunch or in the late afternoon.

They let you grab LL’s for attractions that are down? And then if it’s still down during your return time you get the Multiple Experience pass?

I like your overall strategy. I’d prob use that or for when it’s just my family when we do the 3 day passes and buy LL’s. When taking fam/ friends from out of town/ country though I’ll probably focus more on headliners especially if they are only in the park for one day.

Maxpass was the best iteration. Crazy to think it was only like $10 when it launched 10 years ago.

What a steal. I also remember having the legendary flex pass (where they were testing out the reservation system) which was essentially what an Inspire pass is today for only $600 bucks right before the pandemic.

I remember when I had this level of excitement and enthusiasm when going to Disneyland. Navigating the park to minimize waiting in line and getting as much done as possible was an art.

Now? I show up for a few hours ride a ride or two then call it good and leave.

I don’t try to stack, but that’s what usually happens organically because I prioritize the park I didn’t start at. If I’m starting at DL, after getting one LL (usually Space or Mickey) I prioritize DCA and get subsequent LL in this order:
-Guardians
-TSMM
-Soarin
Invariably these will all be between 3-7 pm. After that I switch back to DL and if I’m lucky nab Matterhorn and BTMRR in the evening (HM is the back up.)

If I start with DCA my first LL will be TSMM, and then I grab a Soarin LL (as that one is almost always less then 1 hour out) followed by:
-Space or Indy (both will likely be gone or too late by my 3rd pull)*
-Matterhorn or Mickey*
-BTMRR
-HM

*Lucky days I’ll be able to get both of the choices for one of those but I don’t count on it. Again those DL LL will invariably stack between 3-7 for the most part. I’m not attempting to do this (just trying to get all my favorites) and it happens organically.

I wish I could just pop in for a few hours and leave but I live too far away for that.
