Burbank Frys R.I.P. I had held out hope that someone would save the whole sci-fi building and affects.

Interior pictures:
I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did, most if not all the rest I believe have been torn down including the original location near me.

I would make a point of stopping there when I went to USH. Loved showing it to newbies. I liked the others* but this was the best one. It had a movie drive-in style cafe!

*Well actually, my closest, Industry, was kind of boring.

What if PoC had been based on a colorful animated film? I love the combo of whimsy and darkness in this new Pirates-style dark ride in Italy! A bit heavy on screens in spots, but plenty of charm and spectacle along the way. The impressive, multi-room, surprise-filled finale (starts at the 8:25 mark) is terrific! 😃

As someone who enthusiastically voted for Perot in 1992, that factoid somehow doesn't surprise me. That "giant sucking sound", and all. :(

That seems awfully defeatist to me. This country built railroads across the continent, won two World Wars for the good of all humanity, and sent men to the moon to play golf. I'd bet two churros we could build some clothing factories again. ;)

We can check back on this topic in a few years time and see where we are. But I would love it if most of the stuff for sale in The Emporium wasn't made by de facto slave labor in Communist Chinese sweatshops. Where did The Emporium get its stock of t-shirts from in 1980, I wonder?
And people complain about prices now , just wait - how does a $75 baseball cap sound ?

Yes - and quite honestly automation is the only way to even be competitive in the USA for low skilled work. There would certainly be ancillary jobs come which is a positive , but unwinding global trade is a fools errand in my opinion. Not only that, the greatest way to avoid wars are to have economic ties with countries - see the embargo of Japan prior to WW2
Yep, many here including TP claim to be for the Free Market, unfortunately don’t think many actually understand the concept. Because if they did they’d realize global trade is the ultimate free market, and there is no real way of going back from that.

Went to the Long Beach Grand Prix this weekend... two things-

#1) Grabbed food from a Wahlburgers truck yesterday. It was horrifically bad and a disgrace to food. It was a joke of a burger, bland fries, and offensive chicken fingers.

#2)

So I assume that you always “buy American” now, and not wait for these ridiculous tariffs to start pulling the trigger ?

I try as best I can. I recently bought a more expensive TV set for the guest room because it was made in Japan instead of the Chinese made set the 25 year old salesman was pushing, for example.

My family owned nothing but Zeniths for decades until I rebelled aroung age 30 and bought a Sony Trinitron. I don't think any TV sets are made in the USA today, but that's a situation that can change. If Japan can make TV sets using Japanese employees and still maintain its 1st World status, surely you could make TV sets in Ohio or Iowa using American employees.

Fun Fact: When I moved into my new house a few years ago I bought a gorgeous washer dryer set from Speed Queen; their TR7 models in the medium price range (not to be confused with a Triumph TR7 sports car). They are built like tanks, are basically guaranteed for life with in-home service if anything goes wrong, and they are built in Wisconsin. Go Badgers! They cost a bit more than the Mexican or Korean made junk that are only guaranteed for a few years, but they're worth it! Truly built like tanks, and you can barely hear them work.

And on wash day my delicates have never been, um, more delicate. ;)

So FB mentioned today that they are turning off Lightning Lanes for 4 days soon. In the video it shows they re trying out some new configuration for the standby and LL lines. Basically the merge point for LL and standby happens sooner whcich moves standby guests through the queue quicker. He postulated that they re trying to see if LL sales would go down if they take POTC off Lightning lane. I don't think that would affect sales very much at all. So what I think they might be doing is testing if this new configuration gets an adequate amount of bodies off the pathways. And if it does then maybe they can cancel or postpone the expanded queue project.

If you put the merge sooner, it just creates an even longer line before the merge. Remove LL entirely and the line becomes shorter. Sometimes I wonder if the merge cast member is aware of the last time they let stand by go in. They seem so dazed.
