So they built a crappy sign to stay up while the real one being repaired?

That’s what it looks like. Or maybe they saw all our complaints? Lol
FB had been reporting in his construction videos that the popcorn lights had been under the temporary sign for a couple weeks now. So I think its safe to say it was always meant to come back, they were just repairing the old sign/fabricating a new one.

A few thoughts from my trip yesterday which happened to be the best one of the year. Beautiful warm spring day, not too crowded and got on a bunch of rides. Flowers blooming. Baby ducks walking around. Disneyland is in “classic mode” if you will. This is my Peak Disneyland.

Mickeys Runaway Railway works better when you stop viewing it as an E ticket (of a concept that had so much potential) and start viewing it as a modern Fantasyland style dark ride.

Hyperspace Mountain looked and felt better than ever yesterday. So Good. For me it’s the best Star Wars ride Disney has made if we’re talking about capturing the feeling of Star Wars with the adrenaline, classic Star Wars music and being in a dog fight in Space.

Rode ROTR yesterday for the first time in a while. So good to see the canons working again. What a difference they make for that scene. My son’s theory was that “they turn them on for Season of the Force.” Lol. Also as I looked around the transport scene during the pre show going back and forth between Admiral Ackbars doppleganger and the sceen in the back where we always sit. Feeling the simulators movements and just really taking it in right before we step into that cold gigantic hangar bay I couldn’t help but feel like ya know - maybe we are just a little jaded sometimes. Kind of crazy that ROTR only opened to lukewarm reception from non normies.

Rode Tiana too. Really stings that my son got over his fear of drops right after Splash closed. If nothing else please Disney just invest a few hundred k into that last tunnel of nothingness before the lift hill. Removing all the possums, rabbits and the two vultures for two screens is just criminal. It’s well documented that Splash was my favorite ride at DL and TOT at DCA. Even though the structures and ride systems are still there it honestly feels like those rides are gone. What they were replaced with are so flat and one dimensional (in every sense of the words) that it honestly feels like they’re gone compared to the attractions that preceded them. At least in the void of the feelings that those well rounded adventures evoked.
I would say runaway railway is a d-ticket.

Just spent the last hour researching for a quick trip to Sequoia National Park next week while the kids are on Spring Break. Next time I should check the weather first. Highs are only in the 40s! What the hell? I was over here feeling like it was summer already with the 80 degree day we had at Disneyland yesterday

I’m not going to to debate how it should be classified as it’s highly subjective and even when the ticket system was around it was kind of all over the place. Enchanted Tiki Room and POTC were both E tickets. With that said when and I (and perhaps most) of us say E ticket these days what we’re referring to primarily is scope/ scale. Something with the scale of MMRR where you are moving through multiple show scenes would generally be referred to as an E ticket. I’m quite certain Disney views it as one.

The way I kind of view it these days:

1. Mega E Ticket

2. E ticket

3. D ticket - mostly reserved for the likes of shooter rides, simulators or dark rides of smaller scale like Tangled Tokyo or Pan Shangai

4. Flat rides.

I don’t think anyone really talks about A- C tickets. Disney doesn’t really build smaller dark rides or transpo rides anymore so the sheer size of some of these rides make it hard to call them anything other than an E. So you re just kind of left with flat rides, E tickets and not quite E tickets.

You don’t say! 40s seem a bit too cold for mid April. I was in Lake Tahoe in February 2024 and it was 60 degrees.
The General Sherman (which is essentially on the”floor” of Sequoia NP) is 7,000 ft above sea level, more then 800ft higher then Tahoe. I don’t know if you’ve ever been but that drive up is impressive, I’ve only done it in the summer, can’t imagine what that drive would be in snow. It’s also, wait for it, a forest so it’s going to be cooler due to that too.

It was 60 even a bit further up from Tahoe where we were tubing but it’s irrelevant really. We got lucky and that’s not typical weather for Tahoe in February.

Wait, it’s a forest? Dude you are a wealth of information. Do you have Zelle or Venmo? I’d like to show my appreciation.

I’m all seriousness, when you get up there do the Congress Trail Loop, takes off from the General Sherman. 2.7 mile realitively flat trail through the heart of the forest. My favorite hike I’ve taken in any National Park.

Just to add what was already said, its 45 today in Tahoe, and doesn't appear to get higher than mid-to-upper 50s for the next 10 days.

Having lived up in that area I can tell you its not unusual to have a late season cold front move in. I've even seen snow hit in late April from time to time.

Sounds nice! That’s very exciting to think I can do one of the best hikes in America only 3.5 hours from my house…with the kids at that! Really looking forward to it. Probably have to wait for this summer though. From my hour of research this morning here’s what I have on my kid friendly itinerary. How many hours would the below take at a casual pace?

General Sherman trail
Congress trail

I understand both of the above are paved and doable with kids?

Creek at base of Topokah trail
Scenic drive on Generals Highway to Tunnel Tree
Lunch or dinner Wukasachi Lodge. Probably dinner and do lunch at Lodgepool where we’ll take the shuttle to the Sherman trail.

My patented 1 day in Sequoia and Kings Canyon itinerary in the summer (they are connected.)

-Leave early drive to the General Sherman Parking lot
-Walk down to the General Sherman, then do the Congressional Trail Trail.
-Take the free shuttle back to the parking lot from the handicap lot to save you the climb up. (2-3 hours in total out of the car)
-Drive the Generals Highway to the Grant Grove
-Walk the Grant Grove to see the house tree and General Grant (1 hour)
-Enjoy a Picnic Lunch in the parking lot
-Drive the 26 mile Kings Canyon Drive down into the heart of the canyon. A absolutely jaw dropping ride. While down there do the short hike (<15 min) to Roaring Falls, then drive back out (2-3 hours)

Everything mentioned is kid friendly, took my parents on this trip no problem.

Today I learned that this guy from one of my all time favorite movies Tombstone - is the main bad guy from Avatar. For a guy who doesn’t forget a face or voice, my mind is blown.
