I always forget about Waldo too, which I take as my brain doing me a favor. As for the reaction to Muppetvision’s closure I can only guess it’s a lightning rod for the notion that Disney doesn’t care about the Muppets, generally content to let them languish.

Literally what I’ve been trying to wrap my head around too.

The reaction is definitely overkill imo. The valid argument though is that they have underutilized space at DHS, and instead decided to retheme an area that doesn’t necessarily need immediate attention. That, and when all said and done doesn’t drastically increase capacity. That part is valid.

With that being said though, I don’t think 3D / 4D shows really have a place in theme parks nowadays.

I think our WDW/ East coast counterparts have an affinity for original Epcot and MGM Studios attractions as they were/ are original and unique to WDW. It’s the only way I can explain being more concerned about losing MV3D than the ROA. A show on a screen that can be watched at home vs a beautiful vista that not only anchors 1/3 of the park but is part of the DNA of what makes a Disney castle park. With that said, I think it would be cool if they could relocate the attraction elsewhere in the park. I think it has enough of a following and historical significance that they should consider it. Like keeping at least one version of the Tiki Room, Lincoln/ HOP and CBJ running. But then again when you relocate it it kind of loses some of that significance IMO. Is the show still filling up the theatre out there?

I will miss Muppetvision. East coasters missing it more than the river is weird, but I do feel like it never got a fair shake out west due to the long-term bias against static shows of all stripes, and the fact that it got some DCA 1.0 stank on it that it never managed to shake. It was a funny, clever show that I always looked forward to.

It's a bummer that there will soon be no way to get the full experience anymore.

Yes, I don’t get it. This is the reaction I expected from them when Disney announced the ROA was being turned into a Cars ride at MK. Tom Corliss compared the two saying “this isn’t like the Rivers of America and the steamboat that were on their way out…” Lol. He’s saying that losing a digitized show with two animatronics is much worse than losing the Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island and the steamboat. That’s crazy talk to me.

I also think ITTBAB was far superior to MV3D.

Am I supposed to miss this guy?

Thank you all. I thought I was losing my sanity. Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I need to watch it on YouTube one of these days. I can’t remember anything about the show other than not loving it. I saw it once in 2001 when DCA opened where I did other classic attractions like Mulholland Madness, Maliboomer, Orange Stinger and Superstar Limo. Then one I saw it one more time in the early 2010s. I think in 2001 it was one of the highlights of the park even if not really my cup of tea. In the 2010s I don’t remember feeling that way.

The penguins are the biggest loss. Personally, I saw reskin them and put them in an Ice Queen boat ride, but that's just me.

Forgot all about them and it’s vaguely coming back to me now. Kind of bothersome that you have all these perfectly charming AAs in the Muppets theatre and traded them all for Donald Ducks butt. Better than ITTBAB though where we lost that beautifully themed theatre and hopper AA for Tom Holland on a screen

Ugh, I too forgot about the penguin orchestra. I'll take them any day vs. the CGI whatshisname. I HOPE that they will bring over any animatronics over to Rock'n'Roller Coaster... would be easy to put the limited animatronics SOMEwhere in the queue/or load/unload areas...

Any other Californians somewhat shocked by east coast people's adornment of Muppet Vision 3D? I enjoyed the show and its fun but definitely a product of its time. It closed here with no fanfare.

I've been seeing online reactions comparing it to being as important as Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. My whole feed is full of stuff like this.

I understand it's the last show Jim Henson worked on, but it's a 30 year old themepark 3D show that had a huge run. I get people lamenting it going away but the level of adoration really surprised me.
Not gonna lie, I was a big fan of it when it was in DCA and I was sad when it got replaced, so I understand being upset about it, but I’m glad the muppets will still have a place on the new RNRC. I wish they’d bring it back to DCA as a way to keep the show running, but that’s probably wishful thinking.

It would be nice if MV3D came back for DCA's 25th anniversary. I always enjoyed the show and west coasters didn't get a chance to experience it before closing, since DCA just closed it during a refurb.

Speaking of the Muppets, I was surprised to learn that Wally Boag appeared on The Muppet Show with a near identical act to the one he performed in The Golden Horseshoe. The connections between Disney and the Muppets really do go further back than I think a lot of non-Muppet Disney fans give credit for. Even though I don't mind the loss of Muppet Vision, I do think the Muppets deserve a spot in Disneyland, though I don't know where or how. They certainly deserve a spot more than Star Wars does an entire land, that much I know for sure.

Western themed Muppet show in the Golden Horseshoe? Seems appropriate after learning about Wally Boags connection to the Muppets.
