Rides like Spider-Man, the Potter Rides, Transformers, Mario Kart and even Kong are so much more then simulators, they are also dark rides where you still move through physical spaces and have real things to see (not just a screen) and some of you need to give them a chance.

More eyesores at Tomorrowland...

Da heck is this?

Poor former COP building. Just needs to be torn down.

The Space Mountain building looks so cool, but you can't even see it when you approach.

And here we have this ceiling which desperately needs to be repainted.

Poor former PeopleMover tracks. Why did they have to ruin you with Rocket Rods? 🤦‍♀️

At least this view is nice.

So the WDW monorails need to be replaced. No doubt, absolutely.

HOWEVER...

These you can tell are the product of the cheap Eisner era. Cabin materials are cheaper (plastic). They look worn. Could use a good refresh.

This is true but strictly from a motion sickness perspective they're very similar. True simulators might even be less harsh for that since they stay in one spot; I know the screen carousels on FJ are a big culprit for nausea.

Not sure exactly who you were speaking to, but for me, I 100% know VR triggers a migraine, so Mario Kart is a no-go. Which I love Mario, so this is pretty disappointing.

I know you mean well with "Oh, try this" because I'm sure those attractions are a lot of fun if you don't get motion sick, but for a lot of people who get motion sickness, doing an attraction that makes you sick is 1. not fun while you're on it and 2. ruins your day because you don't feel well afterwards.

For those of us who get motion sick, we can read descriptions and/or watch YouTube videos and are pretty good about judging if something is going to make us sick. Sometimes there's surprises, but I think the majority of us would rather pass than end up sick.

I just got off of Indy.

The first time around, we got stuck right at the end where the ball is about to roll over you. Everything stops, Sallah announces that there's a problem and to wait for assistance. It's pitch black in there for about three minutes (no idea why since Indy is typically lit) until they finally turn the lights on. CM eventually comes around and asks if everyone is alright, lets us know we'll probably be evacuated.

Meanwhile, Indy is hanging up there, judging all of us...(still moving!)

We sit there for about 20 minutes. No one evacuates us. Eventually, they say the ride is going to move again. They end up pulling it towards the front. Guess they did the old turning it off and back on again.

Anyway, they offer to let us ride again. I say yes because I came all the way out here from the east coast, this is one of my favorite rides, and I have the lightning Lane multi pass, so I absolutely want to ride again. Everyone else says no thanks. So I get to ride it again...all by myself.

Which now begs the question...who looked into the eyes of Mara? It 100% was not me. 🤣

I strongly prefer Disneyland to Magic Kingdom overall, but I agree completely about DL's Tomorrowland. I quickly pop in to ride Space Mountain or Buzz, and then I return to the aesthetically pleasing sections of Disneyland (aka the entire rest of the park).

MK's Tomorrowland is awesome for hanging out, especially at night. I pray that one day a cool hangout vibe (like what I've seen in photos from the 1970s/1980s) returns to DL's Tomorrowland.
This is how I feel. Disneyland is absolutely my favorite Disney park overall, but there are things in MK I prefer, and Tomorrowland is the biggie. Tomorrowland is absolutely my nighttime hangout spot at MK. Today at DL, it was like, get in, ride Space, and leave as quickly as possible.

What a lucky place to get lights on 😭

In all my rides on Pirates, I somehow never noticed -- until my most recent visit -- that these barrels of explosives actually move when shot at. Fun effect! Just goes to show how detailed this attraction is (or maybe how inattentive I am).

Also at the beginning right before you go into the room where they're battling at the fortress, to the left, there is a skeleton of a pirate. If you watch it, right as you enter, he turns back to flesh. It's a cool effect.

I have definitely been on this too many times.

Like, every day, at least one a day when I'm here.

I just love all the details.

I got a video of him still moving too.

Which I (and everyone else in the vehicle) found hilarious. I've been stuck on other attractions before, and typically the animatronics freeze when lights go on. Not Indy, he's out here going the extra mile. I guess someone's gotta watch the tourists. 🤣

You try hanging from a rope for the last 29 years and remaining perfectly still 😝

Almost 30 years now.

I know this because this ride opened the day my longtime friend, who came here with me in 2017, was born.

I told her that the ride was older than me, but not than her (I am eight weeks younger).

She did not appreciate that. 🤣

I was mulling over the conversation the other day about ROTR breakdowns in DL vs DHS (I'm here by myself, what else do I have to do while standing in line?) and it occurred to me the timeline...

DHS's opened in December 2019. DL's opened later. The COVID shutdown happened March 2020. WDW resumed operations in June 2020, but DL remained closed for more than a year. Therefore, the WDW version has more hours and therefore the team has had more time to work out the kinks with it.

Although it has also broken down its fair share there; I've been evac'ed twice off of it.

I figured out the purpose of Galaxy's Edge in this park!
Non-crowded bathrooms
💯 💯 💯

I love Disneyland, but man, their restroom situation (apart from GE) leaves a lot to be desired. Often too small, often in weird locations, they're the one thing that is always better outside of DL park rather than in it.

Ironically (or not?), Tomorrowland is my number two land for DL restrooms. Both the Autopia and Space restrooms are better than the others within the traditional core of Disneyland.
