As @Disney Analyst said it better than me I'm going to just quote their post right here -

I can only say that when I watched the full episode (both of them), before social media picked this up and started raging, I found his comments innocuous. He already admits it’s his favourite attraction (several times), and mentioning that it’s not the most brilliant storytelling is objectively true. He never said it doesn’t tell a story at all, we all know it does. But it’s in the abstract, and yet it's very effective, and executed brilliantly.

If anything him recognizing that should mean he understands why it's a huge success. Would be great if that meant they'd build more rides like the ol' days. But alas.

But of course the rage machine picked it up on twitter, and twisted it into something bigger and worse than it ever could have been. Grifters with blue checks working hard to make money off engagement.

What do you and Bob think could be done better?

Not brilliant implies something can be done better. Stop playing dumb.

Or you can just say he chose the wrong words to describe what he was trying to say. Instead of doubling down that what he said was accurate.

Nope, I just agree with that they said.

Its an abstract type of storytelling, it however is the type that draws criticism for not being brilliant storytelling because there is no clear story being told, ie its abstract. The rephrase what Bob said in another way using the same meaning, its not the most clear way of storytelling.

Not Brilliant storytelling to Bob means there is no obvious linear story. And that’s its a more passive experience by modern standards. As the CEO of Disney and leader of the company while many dud attractions have debuted, Id probably choose a different way of phrasing my thoughts when referring to a 55 year old + classic and one of the greatest attractions of all time.

Of course it is but it seems that’s what you spend the majority of your time doing. I don’t see very many posts of you sharing ideas, reviews, links, feelings etc about the parks. Only when they are part of a debate and in response to someone else’s opinion.

I do all the time, you just obviously don't pay attention. For example just yesterday I posted a linked story about Scarlet Witch's temporary return to AC and engaged in conversation about it.

Also so what if I did only want to engage in discussions on what others posts? I didn't realize that was somehow against the rules of this site.

Just seems very lopsided is all. But if that’s what you enjoy doing more power to ya. I just think it’s worth calling out when someone posts something like “much ado about nothing.” I think a posters posting history should considered. You have a history of dragging out unnecessary back n forths.

Except its not lopsided, if you actually paid attention to my posting habits. Because you'd know that I'm active not only here both other parts of this site.

Also if we're talking posting history, well we just had that conversation..... So maybe that history is being considered here.

The basic premise behind this proposed Tomorrowland
attraction (which was to have been built inside of the old Carousel of Progress
theater-go-round building) was that P.T. Quantum's space-going-circus had accidently
crash-landed at Disneyland. And in order to raise the money necessary to make
repairs to his now-damaged starship, this intergalactic ringmaster was – for
the first time ever – going to allow humans to come see his out-of-this-world assortment
of acts.

would have been located in relation to all of the other rides & shows found in Disneyland's

Audio Animatronic extravaganza was a this multi-ton muck monster. Who-after she

note the large-mouthed diva at the very center of this image surrounded by her swamp-

dwelling orchestra. Which was to have performed a musical number that Danny

Elfman was going to write for this proposed Tomorrowland addition.

performance by P.T. himself. Who – of course – was going to be voiced by
Michael Jackson. The only problem was that the Imagineers could never get a AA

Is there anywhere else these amazing details can be backed up or is it just a "source: trust me and my knowledge" situation? I really appreciate you locating this for me, it helps out tremendously.

My post above this had a different imagineer mention an MJ show in the carousel of progress theater, though called it Star Palace, and at an official Disney event. So that lends some credibility.

I don't think Jim Hill himself is a source of his own rumors and likely he hears things secondhand. I don't think reporters with insider knowledge ever cite their sources as it would ruin the careers of those who broke NDAs to give the reporter a scoop.

I remember him bringing up the Monsters Inc door coaster in about 2010? But for DCA. Cool to see that project happen.

I'd assume at some point he had some connections/sources on the inside.

His website is hard to search through but both him and Al Lutz (on Micechat) would write really insightful and entertaining articles. No idea and how true Jim's stories are but they were fascinating back then.

I see he has a podcast now, I'm curious if he still has stories or rumors like the old days or if it's just him reporting on current Disney news.

To me it seemed clear 20 years ago that no one fully trusted Jim Hill.

Nowadays, it seems like whether or not people trust him is whether or not what he says fits with what they feel is right about the parks at the moment.
