The Mandalorian & Grogu (Lucasfilm - 2026 Theatrical)

Complete afterthought. Trailer was met with mocking or indifference amongst my peeps.

Spent last night hanging with my biggest SW fan friend and the topic didn't even come up.
This has been my experience also, at work this weekend we talked about season 2 of Wednesday, Higher Intelligence, murders in the building, Black Rabbit… probably a dozen different shows and movies we’re all watching and/or excited for… and not one person even mentioned Star Wars despite it having a trailer for its first new movie in nearly a decade. People just don’t seem to care anymore, it’s tarnished to the point of irrelevance.

Convos have been waiting for people to catch up and finish Star Trek Strange New Worlds S3 (mixed bag horrible), curiosity of the fire cult due to dead aiywa for that tribe and acknowledgement that we'll all see it multiple times Avatar chatter, and slim hopes Tron 3 is good but a slow acceptance it appears it'll be crap.

Had a couple peeps watch Andor S2, they enjoyed it overall but said as with S1 it was slow. I haven't watched any D+ since Ahsoka.

I saw on reddit apparently the trailer viewership for the Mando/Grogz movie is around 8 million after 8ish days and that the sequels (even Ep9) had that many views after 2 HOURS. That's apathy right there.

SNW season 3 was bad? That's terrible. I enjoyed the first two seasons. It was the best Trek since the Orville. ;)

I don't have Paramount+ anymore since I cancelled it half way through watching season 3 of Discovery. What an awful show that was. However, Picard was pretty hit and miss with season 2 being preachy.

S3 SNW has been miss and 'just ok'. S1 and 2 were great.

Disco has been downhill and never great. Lower Decks had some fantastic eppies but the last season was just ok. Picard S1 and 2 were abominations but if you haven't seen S3, I HIGHLY recommend it, seriously. Section 31 was the worst thing I've ever seen with my eyes.

I liked SNW S3 but the pushback from some seems to be due to leaning into comedy and silliness a bit too much.

I love that they can mix all sorts of genres but some people felt it wasn't balanced enough.

Picard S3 was a great example of doing fan service but having a logical reason for everything that happened, rather than just shoehorn in the old ship without justification for example. It was also much better paced that S2 which took 10 episodes to do a time travel story that's usually a two parter.

Oh, and Grogu and all? I'm still on the fence. Not that I wanted a cliffhanger, but I wish the show had set something big up to justify a movie.

The Star Trek shows…much like the Star Wars ones…had a lot of potential but haven’t delivered much.

My theory is time…as in you need a lot of screen time and pacing to do character development and mini seasons don’t cut it

It was better

But it’s almost like someone had to tell them that if you bring all the next generation characters back…people would want them to kinda be like “familiar” or something?

With the "been there, done that" lack of enthusiasm this trailer is currently facing, maybe Disney will take the hint. Give us characters we haven't seen on streaming and countless store shelves in the past.

What about that Hondo space pirate from Smuggler's Run? Why can't he get his own stand-alone movie?

Or that singer, Gaya from Galactic StarCruiser or whatever that hotel was called? Yes, it was a failed hospitality project, but that doesn't mean some of those original, NEW characters die with it.

Rather than keeping on recycling the once popular (Mando and Grogu), Disney could take fans completely by surprise by investing in projects with the never popular characters, (Hondo and Gaya), proving wrong those who claim the company is dead with imagination and doing the completely unexpected.

Wait, are you under the impression Hondo is from the rides and not Star Wars shows?

I've only seen the Mandalorian series and the one on Obi-Wan. Not really a shows guy when it comes to SW.
I want the big feature films. Even spinoff films... Rogue One is Ep 4 & 5 tier on my favorites list.

But not really into the shows.

Yeah, Hondo is in a lot of other things in Star Wars. The problem with your thoughts is what we have seen recently in the film industry is people want characters they know, not unknown. It's a risk going the other way right now. I think this movie makes sense, but, I think you also need to concentrate on what made the show popular, and I'm not sure the trailer or poster really convey that at all.

Hondo was a character in the Clone Wars and Rebels. Both shows are far better than the live action stuff and add some color to them.

Have you not watched Andor? It's the best SW content since the OT
It's actually one of the few I haven't seen. It just is not something that ever interested me. I'm sure it's good based on what everyone says, but the premise and the character just didn't interest me enough to ever spend the time to sit down and really go through it.

Andor, Rebels and Clone Wars (and to a less extent Tales from the ___ and Bad Batch) are the best Star Wars content out there. The live action stuff is totally outclassed by these shows. Don't tell me you don't watch cartoons, we're on a Disney board!

I watched Rebels and Clone Wars, those were really good. Bad Batch I watched for a bit, but just sort of lost interest for whatever reason. Like I said, Andor just does nothing for me personally.

True. Andor is slow and boring. The last season of the Bad Batch was uninspired and a little pointless but still they are better than everything else.

I haven't seen Andor S2, but two friends have. They commented as others have that the last portion of the season is fantastic but that it takes SO LONG to get there with boring episodes ala S1.
