Trip Report The Last Hurrah ***Completed***

Where: POP
When: Nov 11-16
Why:
  1. Star Wars
  2. to get one final use out of my AP
  3. to have one last hurrah before this arrested development period of my life may end.
Who:

During the trip planning process there was a lot of uncertainty of exactly who would be going.

Final trip manifest:
  1. BES
DH couldn’t go due to work. It’s a double bummer because he doesn’t love his job and he was really starting to warm up to the idea of WDW.

No stowaway youngling will be present on the trip either. This one is a bummer for real life but on the bright side I can ride all of the rides and drink all of the drinks on this trip.

My previous solo trip was more of a physical break from my crazy work hours. I think this trip will end up being being a mental and emotional break.

Will probably try to do this TR live. Obviously going to focus on being in the moment but you all are great company in lines and on busses etc.
Allons-y!

I’m glad you enjoyed Galaxy’s Edge. We loved it! Not totally in agreement on blue milk, but to each their own! Interested to see what you thought of smugglers run!

My take on the blue milk was middle of the road. Do you fall into the love or hate it camp? I’m planning on trying the green another day.

And MF:SR? What a perfect time to ask.
Late, but following along!

Welcome!

Tuesday afternoon:

First Order TIE fighter:

83222718-6F73-4758-909E-6F18ED145AC8.jpeg

Inside the First Order shop I heard a CM thank the guest for “Making the right choice and supporting the First Order”

1. The CMs that are really into really add to the land.
2. In my mind this made it sound like the First Order was supported by donations like NPR which I found hilarious.

Speaking of CM that were really into there was a First Order commander guy around all day who was great.

The MF:SR line was better but only better enough for me to try the single rider line.

Caveats of my review:
  • The queue is different for single rider.
  • I don’t tend to like simulation rides due to motion sickness
I would give the ride a B? I liked it but didn’t love it. I was an engineer so all of my buttons were on the side. This was good for me personally but not for the ride overall.

Especially since I wasn’t steering looking forward the whole time would have made me sick. So I focused on my button pushing. I think if I would have been able to look forward I would have not liked the side buttons. The layout kind of forces you to enjoy the ride or do a good job at the ride.

Since I didn’t go thru the real queue I missed Hondo and the ride ‘story’

I loved the Dejarik room and wished we could have spent more time there.

The cockpit area was awesome. Again I wished it wasn’t so much a rush getting in and out.

Again I overall liked but felt like my priorities of being in and enjoying the Falcon didn’t match to the ride’s goal of coaxiom smuggling.

Tuesday afternoon:

Skipped my 2nd FP for Star Tours since I already did it and I thought post Falcon it would give me too much of a headache.

Instead a snack. My first ever Mickey Bar. 👍🏻Especially on a hot day.

Next up was the Frozen Sing Along. Cute. Liked the tone. Our Aria and Eric did a nice job. Is it always Christmas themed?

Next up Savi’s!

Tuesday afternoon continued:

Checked in for my lightsaber appointment. You get handed a card with the four different types of lightsaber builds.

Soon I got called to the register. I choose “elemental nature.” As I was paying the First Order showed up to harass everyone.

My CM was great. “Don’t worry. You’re just buying scrap metal 😉” and recommended I proceed to the next step when the coast was clear.

You get a pin to wear to ID which type you are doing.

I won’t spoil (or bore you no SW readers) with the actual show but I really enjoyed it. All CMs were great and there was a good ratio of builders to helpers.

As I was putting my lightsaber away outside I had an awesome chat with a kid who was about to build. He was about 5 and so cute.

He also wanted to do the Elemental Nature one and I let him check mine out. He also loved my porg ears. A lot.

I chatted with him and his dad for a bit and as I left I said goodbye and may the Force be with you.

He ecstatically replied: “May the Force be with you too! And may the Force be with your ears!!!”

😍😂

Tuesday afternoon/evening:

One final stop in Batuu (for today).

Got this for doggo:

Sorry porg. This is going to end like Scud eating that alien toy in Toy Story. No hard feelings, right?

Exited HS and returned to POP via Skyliner. Carried my lightsaber like a Faberge egg.

Napped then went to Epcot via Skyliner. It took like 35 min total from room to IG. Overall chiller than the bus. The CBR to Riveria line was paused when I got to it. Started up again in less than 10 min but did make me a little nervous to get on.

Rode with two couples about my parent’s age. I’m no Disney expert but it was amusing to hear how much they “knew” about Disney that wasn’t true.

I just sat there like:

I’m also middle of the road, but it’s nowhere near as good as butterbeer to me. Not that I think they were really trying for that, it’s much different. But not bad. I’ve yet to try green, let me know if it’s any better.

This. My second time on the ride I basically just pressed every button without looking if I noticed a light on, and had a much more enjoyable ride. We also got a perfect rating so I guess that works.

I found butterbeer to be way too sweet so that’s probably why blue milk is more drinkable for me.

Good tip on blind button mashing. I don’t want to let the others riders down.

On the subject of other riders:

One of our pilots really hesitated about jumping to hyperspace.

The nerd in my really wanted to yell: “Punch it!!”

The pilot was a younger lady who already voiced some concern that she wouldn’t be a good enough pilot so I most certainly did not do that.

Aww thanks. I’m so glad we can both enjoy this trip.

From the Spirit flight or the Skyliner flight?

Seriously though it was a great first day and I am truly happy my flight down was safe.

great trip report. I always have anxiety flying in the winter months. Philly gets horrible weather especially January and February so it's always a chance that something will happen to your flight.

Glad to be following along

Tuesday evening:

Time for another snack dinner around WS.

Started with the Brazilian cheese bread. Really good.

Shared a table with a baker at one of the resorts. She was super nice and very chatty.

Next up the Hummus Fries. Excellent.

Got a Nami Saki cocktail in Japan. Gin. Sake. Something blue. It was ok. The blue really over powered the gin and sake.

Apparently some former boy band guy was performing tonight. Lots of ladies seemed really excited about it.

I sat and ate/drank as the concert ended and there was a mass exodus of ladies from that area.

Some wandering for more snacks. Settled on apple strudel and the Riesling flight. I say settled because I realized that I only had like 5 min before the food booths closed. And because the strudel was so so.

Chatted with a guy from Texas abo it baseball. Aka he told me about baseball.

It started to lightly rain just as Epcot Forever started. I liked the kites. The rest was kind of meh for me. Glad it’s only an interim show.

Tuesday Evening continued:

Wandered for a bit more and made my way to the front to the busses.

Pop/AoA joint bus waiting that wasn’t full yet. Sweet.

As I swooped under the ropes my one hip popped out of place a bit. It does this every so often. Luckily I caught it before it went too far out of place and did slight hobble onto the bus.

The cheese bread wasn’t a very full dinner and I needed to rest for a bit before I hiked to my room.

Stopped for the kids tender meal with apples and carrots.

Started my walk back to the room. By now my hip didn’t hurt but just felt a little weak. Opted for the elevator to my 4th floor room though.

Wednesday morning sneak peak- hip is feeling ok but just a tinge off.

Wednesday morning:

Up with no alarm. Glorious. Leisurely time getting ready.

I’m going to up my “Wilsoning” game to show the back of my shirt.

C9591C0A-7CC0-4A89-B906-18D84070FA74.jpeg

It’s a bear not a mouse but I was a little hesitant to wear it because it does look like a satanic Mickey.

Saw a dude wearing a similar shirt yesterday and no children were crying so I decided to give it a go.

Today is my “cold” day. High of 69. Typhoon lagoon is closed due to “cold”. Seeing lots of sweatshirts. 🤣

High temp at home: 22. This would probably fall into the “at least bring a coat to have in the car” cold.

On an Epcot bus now regretting my decision to wait til the park to eat breakfast

Wednesday morning:

Test Track first as a single rider. Walk on for me. Posted 35 min.

Then chocolate croissant in Sunshine Seasons as I planned out my F&W spots.

In the booklet I crossed out all of things that were a:

(Like shrimp, bananas, most of the wine and most of the beer. )

My maybe and yes items list isn’t too long. Should be able to try most of them

Then a non-needed FP for LwtL. Glad they left some Halloween flowers:

Nemo next as a 5 min wait (posted 20). After watched a CM doing research with the dolphins. There was stuff suction cupped to the tank wall. She would jiggle the stuff and the dolphins would look unamused.

Loved the pose of this chocolate chip starfish with 2 of its arms sprawled out:
