The Land evacuated?

My friend was there, a fire alarm went off. It was probably in one of the Sunshine Seasons kitchens. That happened once when I was there. If some smoke in a kitchen sets off a fire alarm, they've gotta evac the whole pavilion for safety reasons.

Makes sense. What happens to Soarin' when the alarm is triggered? Does the video stop, ride return to the floor, etc.?

At Soarin', if The Land building needs to be evacuated entirely, the ride operators will be notified and have to manually ride stop and bring the ride back down to load and direct guests to evacuate from there. As someone already said, the those problems at The Land generally stem from the kitchen or HVAC room.

There is even a Youtube video of an evac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Y-w7l8OK8

Ouch...It's the first time I'd never want to "Listen to the Land"...:ROFLOL:

That video makes it look like everyone needs to go back up the escalator/stairway and out the front door. Please tell me there are other exits used during an evacuation and we are just not seeing them in that video.
There are numerous fire exits all around the building. Between the Soarin entrance and the bathrooms there are several, as there are at the other (north) end of the floor behind the seating area. Remember, the lower level is actually ground level.

In the video it seems like there is a typical rabbit in the headlights mentality; everyone just freezes and wonders what to do/waits for instruction.

That may have more to do with the seeming lack of urgency than society as a whole. Think about it, most people probably assumed that it was a false alarm anyway. Based on the lack of urgency (or panic) by CMs to evacuate the pavillion, and the fact that people hear false alarms repeatedly.

I don't know why people even bother with car alarms: no one who hears one go off ever thinks a a car is being stolen.
