My job played that movie so much that I have grown to despise it.

I’ve only seen it the one time and it left very little impression.

I’m also pretty famously not a video game guy nor an Illumination guy so the movie being just a meh for me is pretty high praise for what it could’ve been lol.

That said, I did like Jack Black as Bowser a lot and I thought the Mario music worked into the score was pretty cool

The one and only time I saw it in theaters I had a blast with it as a lifelong Mario fan just spotting all the Member Berries, but haven't had even a slight desire to revisit it since then because it's pretty obvious the Member Berries along with some pretty nice looking animation and a great Jack Black performance are about all it has going for it. My favorite section is actually all the Brooklyn stuff at the beginning. It was able to still weave in a ton of Easter eggs while also doing its own thing for the only time in the film. The set piece with the dog was particularly memorable, granted I definitely wish the dog had the Duck Hunt design haha.

Finally got to see Wicked Little Letters tonight and it was an absolute blast. Didn't really go in expecting a ton, but left pleasantly surprised, and laughing the whole time through.

The theatre was packed, to the point where people were turned away at the door, which is very cool for a movie like this, and I think helped by having a large theatre completely full all laughing at the jokes throughout!

Just got out of it myself and I also had a lot of fun with it. In many ways it kind of feels like the female version of The Banshees of Inesherin. I especially loved the dark comedy involved in the ending.

Going to see Godzilla x. Kong in about 30 minutes. Hoping for the best but not particularly optimistic

Go in with absolutely zero expectations of logic and it’ll be so much better.

If you find yourself asking “why is the Kong metal glove so easily accessible” just think “do I want Kong in a metal glove? Yes? Then it’s right there” kind of thing. It’s dumb popcorn fun if you taper your expectations to that

Okay, yea. Honestly while it's certainly not on Dune Part 2 "Instant Classic" territory or anything, I did come away feeling like this was easily the best of the MonsterVerse movies and it kind of cracked the code on the franchise for me. Just gonna bullet point the things I liked about it.

"Old Man Kong" as the jumping off point for a King Kong movie was really cool for me. I've always been a more hardcore Kong fan and more casual Godzilla fan, so you can imagine that jumping off point along with the Hollow Earth civilization of Kongs really stafisfied me just as far as pushing the character in some interesting new directions.

-Godzilla is certainly the supporting player between the two, but he doesn't get left out at all. I love his slow build up basically charging a DragonBall "spirit bomb" through the first two acts, and him in purple crystal mode tag teaming with Kong in the third act was some uber-satisfying nerdy "action figures clashing into each other" fun.

-Scar King is hands down the best villain of the MonsterVerse by a mile. I kind of feel like he was the full manifestation of the ridiculous "The Gigangtosaurous is just like the Joker" stuff we got from Jurassic World: Dominion's marketing. I loved how much personality they put into this guy on top of giving him a genuinely intimidating scale. Without giving too much away, the ice monster makes for a really cool second player to join Scar King's side of the tag team in the third act, and the ice powers lead to some pretty stunning visuals.

I think it's cool that the MonsterVerse has slowly built up the original Skull Island natives from their obviously problematic 1930s versions into characters that deeply tie into the ancient history of the Hollow Earth lore. The Hollow Earth as a concept in general has been surpisingly well built up throughout these movies. Dare I say besides the MCU I think the MonsterVerse has kind of cemented itself as the second most sucessful "Cinematic Universe" as far as slowly rolling out its lore and over the top elements.

The really grounded first entries with Iron Man and Godzilla 2014 slowly unfolding bits and pieces of the Hollow Earth/Infinity Saga lore do feel kind of mirrored. With the MonsterVerse they're definitely getting the world building really well handled and are a bit light on characters, but at this point in the series the team of Godzilla, Kong, Mini Kong, Mothra, and the rest of the Kongs can definitely be used as a good jumping off point to battle more deep cut Toho villains in a potential "Phase Two".

The human characters were exactly what they needed to be. All performed by charismatic actors, a lead character with deep ties to the actual monster conflict and Hollow Earth lore, and most importantly a good pacing intuition of when we DON'T need to see them. The Kong stuff in act two is an obvious highlight, perhaps some all time best content from the Kong franchise as a whole. Non-verbal storytelling on par with the Matt Reeves "Apes" franchise.

I honestly think this is the perfect yin/yang to Godzilla Minus One. Minus One was a literally Oscar-caliber morality fable with deep roots to the human characters and the sense to pull back on Godzilla's appearances for maximum impact in a very Spielbergian, Jaws kind of way. Godzilla X Kong is the polar opposite of that. We have all the toys established in the really cool "Hollow Earth" sandbox. Let's just go nuts the Monster action, really develop the Kong lore, and pull out all the stops on some super memorable "Heavy Metal Album Cover" visuals. In and out in under two hours!

I enjoyed Tales of the Jedi so I’m excited enough for it.

Though personally I’d have rather gotten a true Tales of the Jedi season 2 and focus on another Jedi (maybe Kanan’s background or one of the cool background ones like Plo Koon or Quinlan Vos) and Ben Solo

I really did like the Dooku episodes of Tales of the Jedi, I am probably really going to enjoy this since I am more of a dark side lover than Jedi. I also can’t get over how good grevious looks in the trailer. This is the first time in a long time where the entire fandom is excited for something. I think people are judging Star Wars shows too harshly before it is even out such as the Acolyte, we know nothing about the show and people are already bashing it. Wait for it too come out then bash it.

Grievous did look really good. I’m most excited to see what happens to Barriss, the night sister one though I’m so not invested in besides seeing Grievous’s raid on Dathomir.

I agree about the Morgan Ellsbeth part, I only care about my boy grevious. An interesting theory about the show that it is going to contain a portion of the Fall of Dathomir comic, I never read it but I hope it is in there.
